say hello to my little friend, Pio. (at The School of Positive Psychology)
hey Nicky you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind hey Nicky! hey, hey, hey Nicky! (at Bandar Sungai Long)
I want someone to look at me the way I look at lok lok. (at Kota Kemuning)
made a new friend tonight, but the cheeky fella hopped off & went into hiding after the shot. mum said he'd likely starve to death since our home is so spick & span; am tempted to leave out some grub so the wee bugger will grow up big & strong.
“Receive this cross of ash upon your brow, Brought from the burning of Palm Sunday’s cross. The forests of the world are burning now And you make late repentance for the loss. But all the trees of God would clap their hands The very stones themselves would shout and sing If you could covenant to love these lands And recognise in Christ their Lord and King. He sees the slow destruction of those trees, He weeps to see the ancient places burn, And still you make what purchases you please, And still to dust and ashes you return. But Hope could rise from ashes even now Beginning with this sign upon your brow.” — Malcolm Guite, Ash Wednesday (at Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Singapore)
it's a rough time; mad deadlines at work & I've been in school since last Saturday attending classes/supervisions on top of client sessions.
what's a man to do? keep moving forward, rise & grind.
had a late lunch today, rushed out to grab a quick bite when I noticed an elderly chap struggling up a slope in his wheelchair.
gallant rogue that I am, I offered my assistance which he graciously accepted.
turns out that he lives all the way next to Redhill MRT (we were at Bukit Merah Central).
half of me was yelling internally that I don't have time for this, that I've deadlines to meet.
the other half calmly replied that one makes time for what matters.
ended up wheeling him all the way to his front door (getting caught in a sudden shower & with a stop at the loo along the way; he said there's an old Indian adage that one can endure hunger, but not the urge to pee 😂).
he was sharing about his NS days (he was in the Military Police, ROD-ed in 1975) & whatnot, when he suddenly remarked, “God sent you.”
& inside my heart I thought, no, perhaps God sent us to each other.

“I don’t think that anything happens by coincidence. No one is here by accident. Everyone who crosses our path has a message for us. Otherwise, they would have taken another path, or left earlier or later. The fact that these people are here means that they are in our lives for some reason.” — James Redfield, The Celestine Prophecy (at Bukit Merah Central)
“No obligation to justice does force a man to be cruel, or to use the sharpest sentence. A just man does justice to every man and to everything; and then, if he be also wise, he knows there is a debt of mercy and compassion due to the infirmities of man's nature; and that is to be paid; and he that is cruel and ungentle to a sinning person, and does the worst to him, is in his debt and is unjust.” — Jeremy Taylor (at Supreme Court of Singapore)
fuelling up before we head for CNY service, wishing everyone a blessed day with your loved ones!
a lovely gift to herald in the lunar new year; homework that I assigned to one of my most challenging cases, & the client selected me to be amongst the recipients of the day.
a supervisor once quipped that he didn’t know whether to consider me lucky or unlucky due to my tendency to encounter the toughest cases, & that my growth must be exponential due to the challenges that I face.
but that’s the very reason why I chose to do psychotherapy; the years of struggle with mental illness was meant for a purpose.
to sit in a room & be authentic, present, & nonjudgemental.
people are not problems to be fixed, they are to be loved into wholeness.
they may face challenges, but their challenges do not define who they are.
& what I’m doing is not a job, it’s a calling.
on a lighter note: blessed lunar new year, y'all.

“The worst possible thing you can do is to step into the therapy room & think that there’s a person to be fixed. I challenge you to set aside your biases & prejudices, & see the person for who they are.
A person who isn’t that different from you or me.” — Mervin Judah Lee
a lovely birthday gift all the way from Cairo, Egypt. thanks, Sally! ❤️
“The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire.” — Pamela Hansford Johnson (at Bedok Jetty Singapore)
what better way to bid 2016 adieu than with some pan-fried pork chops?
❤️ in a pan.
client asked if I provide recordings of my hypnosis scripts, decided to get myself a Christmas present. (at City Music Singapore)
