Happy pride month!! 🏳️⚧️🏺🏳️🌈
We had a casual challenge put to us to construct an animal without looking. I tinkered a bit and did the carving afterwards, but I think he came out pretty well! I decided to take him in a more Mycenaean or Minoan direction.
He’s been terra sig’d and burnished. He’ll go in the kiln tomorrow morning, and we’ll see what happens!
He made it! First through a tumble stacked saggar, then across the Atlantic wrapped in a sock and put in a shoe for protection :)
This mug is up in New Jersey! The show opens on Thursday.
This is the very first thing I made! It is a kurinuki jar inspired by the Cycladic figurines, though it went a bit more Easter Island. It is unburnished, just a coat of terra sigillata (which you might see has flaked off in a few places. My bad; I need to work on that.)
It’s also my first attempt at the kurinuki technique, where you take a hunk of clay and shape the outside by cutting, then you hollow it out. The lid could definitely have a tighter fit, but I had a lot of fun with it, and I learned a lot.

The view from the hotel on Aegina. Temple of Apollo (well, the one column of Apollo) and the Peloponnese in the distance.
The view from the lunch table in Marathonas. I got to swim in the Aegean today :)
And some sketchbook pages, since this is still an art blog. We’ll be loading a kiln tomorrow, so if nothing is horribly embarrassing, I’ll be posting some pots soon enough, though they will look very different than usual!
🏺inspired by the skyphoi of Ancient Greece, but with a modern, single, vertical handle 🐈lined with a clear, glossy glaze for easy cleaning 🏺
And I’ve got a promo code running (NOVEMBER10)!
The model I met at the agora today, plus a quick doodle :)
So, I’m out of town at the moment, but I will be coming back with a whole lot of ideas soon enough. I’ll also be making some pots over here, so my posts might look a bit different in the imminent future. (I will try to post lol. I forget though.). But I’ll get back to the regular stuff soon. I’ll tag these different posts “travel” if you’d like to avoid them. Assuming I actually post.
This is an orchid pot for Mother’s Day! I haven’t picked an orchid to go with it, but I’ve got some time.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Hey guys! Little announcement. I am going to be out of town from May 17-June 3, so the shop will be closed during that time. Here’s a little promo code, active from now til then: MAY10
Link!
I’m going to be going to Greece, first with my family before they leave me behind for a pottery workshop. I’ll have a bit of time to myself in Athens and Aegina, so let me know if you’ve got any restaurants, tours, activities, or absolutely anything else you’d recommend!
This little Hestia themed kylix was a delight to work on! It was an excellent exercise in seeing how fine I can get a line :)

I told myself I was going to get some bud vases up in time for Mother’s Day. I’ve got some drying on the shelf that are definitely not happening, but this one makes the cut!
(Don’t forget about promo code: MAY10 for a little extra off!)
