BREAK UP WITH YOUR BUILD UP
Hard water minerals, shampoos, conditioning masks, hair styling products and the environment can all cause build up to gather on your hair.
Build up can reek all sorts of havoc like making your hair dry, brittle, unmanageable, static-y, curl resistant, dull, heavy and probably other stuff I can’t think of right now. It’s bad. But luckily you can kick it to the curb and send it on it’s merry way with a very easy concoction that I used on my little sister Celeste (who has hard water and was really struggling with build up). She has been so thrilled with her hair since we did this and can’t believe that all of that dry brittle ickiness was just build up!
Recipe: (this is a tough one so brace yo-self)
1/3 Cup Baking soda (I’m convinced that between baking soda, corn starch, coconut oil and duct tape I could create anything! ) 4 T Water
Directions:
Mix together until it’s a paste. Then (starting with the ends) massage into your *hair. {I did this over the sink so I didn’t make a mess) Leave it for 10-15 minutes then wash as usual. * For recently color treated hair always try a test piece first! Celeste has colored hair and it looked vibrant and beautiful when we were done but you never know!
I hope this works wonders for you!

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: exfoliates skin and reduces appearance of fine lines. you’ll notice a more radiant complexion right away. its antiaging effects take longer to kick in though. usage of AHA consistently for four to six months can help stimulate the production of collagen, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles.
Ceramides: a fatty compound that fills the gaps between cells on the skin’s surface, hydrating and soothing dry skin, replacing ceramides skin naturally loses as you age.
Hyaluronic Acid: naturally found in the body, helps pull water into the skin, hydrating and plumping for a smoother, dewier complexion.
Caffeine: by constricting blood vessels in the skin, caffeine minimizes unwanted puffiness and can reduce the look of dark circles.
Salicyclic Acid: common acne treatment that fights blemishes by exfoliating, declogging pores and calming inflammation.
Vitamin C: potent antioxidant interferes with the production of pigment in the skin, fading dark spots. it can help significantly fade hyperpigmentation in about two months.
Retinol: antiaging all-star minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooths skin and improves tone.
Benzoyl Peroxide: kills of the bacteria the cause pimples, helping to prevent and heal blemishes and clear your complexion.
How Your Diet Affects Your Skin
You’d be a fool to think what you put in your body has nothing to do with how your complexion appears. It’s not to say you can no longer enjoy chocolate and ice cream, but maybe you should just a little less.
Generally speaking, the more greens, fruits and veggies you eat the better you’ll feel; also, the better your skin will look. Your skin does not like dairy and meat, they are your delicious enemies.
Milk hormones irritate and will inflame your skin AND make you fat. My time going dairy free gave me amazing skin but I am weak when it comes to queso. That is a battle I lost. I still refrain from real milk, I prefer almond milk.
Sugar will ruin your skin, it dehydrates you and leaves you sullen. This is hard to swallow because I am a candy fiend. Keeping the sugars you intake natural is what’s actually difficult (like from fruit).
Red meat wreaks havoc on your skin. Hella full of hormones that can trigger excess oil production & clog your pores.
Basically anything delicious is probably bad for you & your skin so you must learn to love fruits & vegetables, which isn’t a hard transition! I promise. All those fruits & vegetables are packed with all sorts of antioxidants which is just what your skin needs to fight off free radicals and the natural effects of aging! Anti-aging routines should start at around 25, so why not give yourself the boost you need through a healthier lifestyle instead of spending more $ on serums & moisturizers that can never reverse those effects?
You can still have carbs too okay? I’m all for carbs. To quote Oprah, “I love bread.” Keep them whole-grain tho, white bread is from the devil and the devil wants you to have shitty skin & he wants you to get fat. Plus, it’s just better for your body!
Increase your water intake. I love Diet Coke but I know that it can’t hydrate me like I need, so I force myself to drink at least 2 bottles of water before I treat myself to a DC. Seems totally stupid but it works for me. It flushes out impurities, regulates your body temp & helps prevent bloat and you feel like a hydrated goddess (or god)
I’m not saying you should cut out all the delicious yet disgusting foods out of your life because I love them as much as you do. You don’t need to be a vegan-raw-gluten free weirdo.
It’s all about being conscious of what you’re choosing to eat, and knowing how your choices affect your body & skin. It starts with one simple change at a time & soon it won’t be a “choice” anymore, it’ll be a habit & your lifestyle.

TZATZIKI SAUCE
Easiest recipe ever!
Hi guys! Yesterday I posted some zucchini tots and I mentioned that me and Cameron (@climbing-my-mountains) made them with tzatziki sauce! We like to put this sauce on lots of things because it’s low cal and super yummy :) My family eats it with chicken, pita bread, veggies, whatever!
Ingredients:
1 cup greek yogurt (I like 0 fat oikos)
¼ cup shredded cucumber
1 tsp dill
1 tsp minced garlic
Lemon juice (to taste)
Instructions:
1. Peel cucumber
2. Shred cucumber
3. Mix all ingredients together adding as much or as little lemon juice as you’d like! (I like mine really lemony)
4. Enjoy!
If you make this let me know how it turns out!

I’ve finally achieved a fitblr right of passage: eating avocado on toast. Today’s brunch was inspired by the lovely @healthyontheinside. I made sure my eggs had chives for the full experience. I don’t know why I didn’t try this sooner. It was a fantastic breakfast!

PARMESAN CRUSTED CHICKEN BREASTS
Hey guys! Here’s my second recipe that I’ve tried for you all :) I tweaked this recipe to be a little healthier and I hope you guys try it because it is simple, delicious, and a definitely crowd pleaser.
Cameron and I made this chicken when we had our friends Emily and Kyle over for dinner. Kyle is a football player for OU and he ate 3 chicken breasts! I would’ve too if I wasn’t sticking to my plan lol. It was a hit with everyone though, even Emily who is a super picky eater. Can’t wait to hear your success stories with this chicken!
Each chicken breast is about 7 WW points. Paired with veggies or salad, it’s the perfect dinner!
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 40 mins (in oven though, so don’t let that number scare you away!)
This recipe makes about 2-3 chicken breasts
Ingredients:
- chicken breasts
- ½ cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons parsley (dry works fine!)
- pinch of salt
- pinch of pepper
- ¼ cup melted butter (this will not be completely used in the recipe, so don’t let the butter scare you away!)
- 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 garlic cloves minced (I buy already minced garlic, if you do also just use 2 teaspoons of minced garlic)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350*
2. Mix bread crumbs, parmesan, parsley, salt, and pepper in a plate.
3. Melt butter in microwave and then add lemon juice and garlic in same plate.
4. Coat both sides of chicken in the butter/lemon/garlic mixture. Make sure the garlic is sticking, sort of press it in
5. Move chicken to bread crumb/parmesan/parsley mixture and coat it in that. Make sure it’s fully coated, again pressing it into the chicken so it sticks. 6. Place chicken on non-stick pan or glass baking dish. When putting chicken on cooking pan, do not let them touch.
7. Bake for 40 minutes
8. Enjoy and send me a message letting me know your thoughts!
I changed this recipe a bit, but the original is from tasteandsee.com
