The new Black Lives Matter mural in Washington D.C., captured by the WorldView-3 satellite of Maxar Technologies. The mural spans two blocks of 16th street and was commissioned by the city’s mayor, Muriel Bowser. The installation has sparked both praise as a sign of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, and also criticism from the DC chapter of the movement itself, calling the mural “performative" as Mayor Bowser has not met their demands to defund the city’s police force. Protests in the city have been ongoing for more than a week in response to the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.

I’m sure many have seen this. In PETA’s campaign to be the worst, they compared these phrases to racism and homophobia.
I actually think some of these phrases are weirdly cruel and maybe better ones could be used. But animals can’t actually understand them, so comparing this is just ridiculous.
Beyond that, I just thought their examples were low effort. I had the idea to come up with my own, but two problems popped up.
First, I was too slow and a giant meme about this went viral before I had a chance to finish this post. And now it seems like I’m a bit late to the party.
Second, the examples I came up with just highlighted our capitalist dystopia and are more sad than funny. I thought I’d share them anyway.

here’s an essay I wrote this morning, and I hope you like it!
A variety of flowers, ornamental grasses, and other plants grow at a nursery in Mount Vernon, Washington — a small city roughly 60 miles (96 km) north of Seattle. Mount Vernon is the county seat of Skagit County, which has a climate similar to Northern France and thus yields millions of tulips every year.

The Richat Structure, also known as the “Eye of the Sahara,” is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara Desert of west-central Mauritania. Measuring 30 miles (50 km) in diameter, the structure was originally thought to have been formed by the impact of an asteroid; however, it is now known to be an eroded structural dome of layered sedimentary rocks.

I found out today that Whale (the band) is from Sweden, which caught me off guard and made me look them up. They made a couple albums apparently, but it seems that perhaps they put everything they had - musical talent-wise - into their big hit “Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe”. It’s a good contribution all on its own.

it could be YOU. probably not though, because who is refueling or recharging that self-driving car? it wouldn’t work, unless the car knew to pull into automated self-serve stations that used contactless payments (a technology which already exists) to transfer funds, in which case, yes, a self-driving car could drive around a dead body almost indefinitely, and even be used to HIDE a recently murdered body by putting it in a self-driving car and sending it off to drive around the country for years. well bye

Take the highest road possible and you will start to see the multiplicity of life within you (and around you). You can only begin to fully embrace or dispute something once it comes into fullness.
