changing the topic with speed whenever someone mentions their name a little too quickly

convincing themselves that this is probably just a phase and that their feelings will disappear sooner or later

character b slurs, "geez...why do i keep thinking of you...? get out of my head silly..." laughing drunkenly as character a smiles. "maybe you're just tired, b."

"don't...don't look at me like that, a...just...don't. my heart's already unsteady enough."

"...you know you'll forget this by the morning..." "then promise me you'll remember it for me."

"if i say i love you now — can we just blame it on the alcohol and forget it all in the morning?"

"you make me go all...i don't know...maybe it's the alcohol talking..."

character a downs the shot when asked who their crush is, then points straight at character b without saying a word.

it's late, the stars are bright as character a and b relax on the rooftop, drunk as they can be before, "b...i think i want to be more than friends..." a says, sipping onto the bottle of beer. "what....what?"

"i keep pretending you don't mean as much...but i'm a little drunk and — i guess i still love you after all."

meeting your lover from a past life - prompts ! 

"do i…know you from somewhere?"

“this is going to sound absolutely crazy, but i feel like we’ve met before…”

character a bumps into character b in a crowded street, their bodies accidentally brushing. "whoa, sorry!" character a says, pulling back. character b’s gaze lingers on them for a moment. “…hold on do i know you?”

"i don’t know how to explain it, but you feel like someone i’ve known for a long time."

"i think i've loved you before."  character b looks over at them, their gaze filled with fondness. "i think… i’ve loved you too."

"maybe we’ve known each other longer than we think."

"you look so happy when you talk about them... i’m glad you have someone like that in your life."

"you’re seriously asking me for advice on what to text them..? i mean sure! i’ve got you."

character b texts character a that they're thinking of making a move on someone else, and character a type out a supportive response, even though they're secretly wishing they'd look at them the same way.

character b leans over character a's shoulder, their breath warm against a's neck as they point out something on a's paper. character a tries to focus on the words they’re saying, but all they can think about is how close character b is.

"oh my god! i was only staring because you had something on your face. stop making it weird!"

"i wish we could just stay here forever." character a says, lying on the grass, staring at the sky. "yeah…me too." character b replies softly, but their gaze is on character a, not the sky. 

"are you alright?" character a asks, noticing the silence. "mmm…yeah." character b says, smiling, but all they want to say is, i’m fine, i just wish you could see me the way i see you.

"you’re my favorite person. i mean, not like that... unless you thought i meant it like that?…i'm kidding!"

character a tells character b they need to talk, and for a moment, character b thinks maybe this is it — maybe they’ll confess their feelings. but instead, character a says, "i…think I’m in love with someone." “oh…”

character a tells character b that they’re planning to confess their feelings to someone else, and character b feels their world shatter in an instant. "…good luck." character b says, but inside, it feels like they’re losing a piece of themselves.

"i wish i could find someone who makes me feel as safe as you do, b" "you will, a..."

"i’d rather be their friend than nothing at all..."

"the stars look beautiful tonight..." character b says, their eyes locked onto the starry night sky. "don't you think so...?" character b continues as their hand reaches out to the sky. "...yeah." character a responds but their eyes were locked on character b. "so beautiful..." they added with a bittersweet smile.

giving the bigger half of their food when their best-friend asks for a piece.

"you have plans tonight, a?" "i'm going on a date tonight!" "....oh."

character b compiling a playlist for character a, trying to confess their feelings through songs but is to scared to share it to them, instead character b listens to the playlist at night with a million and one thoughts and every single thought is character a.

^ character a is probably sleeping soundly or talking to someone else whilst character b is having a crisis.

searching for them in a crowded room but they're already with someone else.

"you look...amazing." character b says, breathless as they look at character a. "thanks, b. do you think c will like it...?" they asked, blushing at the mention of character c.

feeling a spark of electricity when they hold hands but their best-friend sees it as just platonic.

character a gets into a relationship before character b had the guts to tell them that they were in love with them.

character b religiously listening to heather by conan gray on repeat.

"what?! you're crazy! b is just a friend! b is like a ( brother/sister ) to me!" they laugh as character b's heart crumbles.

character a starts spending more time with someone else, and an unexpected pang of jealousy hits character b but that jealousy slowing fading into guilt as they realised they had no right to be jealous.

overthinking their interactions

^ their best-friend thinking nothing much of it.

being the first one to offer their jacket to their best-friend when they're cold.

"c they stood me up..." character a says with a heavy sigh, tears threatening to fall down their cheeks. "they're stupid for that - who in their right mind would do that?" character b responds, containing their anger knowing they'd never do that to them.

going to karaoke and dedicating a song to them but they're too busy with someone else.

character b re-reading their messages over and over again, thinking about different scenarios and what-if's.

helping character a get with character c knowing that they'll break their own heart in the process.

"...i love you." "love you too!"

prioritising their best-friend's happiness over theirs because if they're happy, so are they.
