I rarely visit this website and I really do miss writing, blogging, and everyone here. I just don’t have the drive to do it anymore, sadly. But I’ll still pop up every once in a while.
That said, I’m so excited for 2019 and all that it has to offer! I have made some plans already and I cannot wait for them to happen.
Here’s to a year with fewer breakdowns and more adventures.
There’s no official list yet, and graduation isn’t until the 24th of June, but I got all my grades already, so here’s half of my sablay pic hahaha.
Ya gurl is graduating! I already miss the campus and the people. I am greatful for the four years I spent in this place. I became a better version of myself - independent, less judging, and more aware. To be frank, I was a huge mess. Getting to this point came with so :) many :) breakdowns :) and :) doubts :) but it’s worth it.
In other news, I’m moving out of the house tomorrow and starting work on Monday. Hoy di ka pa graduate. I’ll be learning how to budget my money (hello rent and everything else) and starting a job that I love (very thankful for this opportunity huhuhu)!! I have no idea how the heck to adult but here’s to a new chapter.
A few days late for a round-up, but I can’t seem to get it off my mind.
I learned quite a lot this year. There were moments to treasure and a few breakdowns in between, as is the usual case. The year flew by so fast, especially the last few months (I was shookt). This post contains a few things I associate with the year. You’ve been one hell of a ride, 2017.
Most of my savings this year went to watching movies. I’ve lost count of how many movies I watched. It’s a mini break from all the stress of college. Here are eight of my favorites from this year.
Oro - An overlooked film, it’s more than the issue it faced, really.
Seklusyon - Chilling and thought provoking (got to learn more about the film too, since the cast and crew came!)
About Time - I just love a good romcom, late to the party on this one
Wonder Woman - Gal Gadot and Chris Pine! Such a nice change from the usual superhero films.
Tomorrow I’ll Date Yesterday’s You - Another romance film because, me, I blame my Pisces self.
Bar Boys - A movie about friends and family!!
Love You to the Stars and Back - Romance, again (I cried HAHA)
Coco - I came into this movie expecting a typical Disney Pixar movie. But then again, it’s Disney. I didn’t know much about the plot but I was sobbing by the end. I’d say this is the best one here.
I appreciated Filipino movies more, too. This includes: I’m Drunk, I Love You (ily too Paulo Avelino), 1st Sem (we were only three peole in the cinema when it showed), and Patay na si Hesus. Thank you, Film Center. They show quality films at a reasonable price. Inside the campus pa!
The 2017 Wrapped, although scary (a company has data about your taste in music, and may even know better than you), gave me a list of my top songs for the year. This is where the list is based on.
La La Land - A musical romcom, what more can I ask for?
Divide - Ed Sheeran never fails with his albums.
Beauty and the Beast - The classic songs with the new ones they’ve added aaahh such beauty!
Panic! at the Disco - My sister introduced me to this (I know just now, why Jaye)
Invisibilia - I didn’t know where else to put this. It’s a podcast about the invisible things that shape us. I listened to this during my walk to and from my internship, and I love it.
Hamilton - A late addition to the list, a few days before 2018, but I knew I had to include it. Lin Manuel-Miranda is a genius. I also listened to Moana a lot this year.
Binged watching has always been a past time of mine these past few years. 2017 is not excluded. Thankful that Netflix and iflix exist as I get access to these shows easier. A goal for 2018 is to be able to afford my own subscription. I’ve been relying on free trials.
Black Mirror Season 1 to Season 4 - Techno-paranoia. Each episode is stand-alone and it makes you think. A lot. I LOVE IT.
Sherlock Season 4 - This just keeps getting better and better every season.
Silicon Valley Season 3 - They pay attention to the tiniest of details. It’s about code and tech and start-ups, basically everything I may be a part of in the future aaahhh.
Mr. Robot Season 2 - Rami Malek’s a versatile actor and I just adore him. Also, hacking.
Stranger Things Season 2 - The focus wasn’t just Eleven this time around. Binged watched for a whole night, worth it.
The Big Bang Theory Season 1 to Season 11 - I don’t know why I haven’t watched this earlier. It’s also cool that I get most of the jokes huhu nerdy.
Finally, some moments that made my year. I wouldn’t go into much detail on each one. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Even if they are mostly selfies. Yeah.
Hackathons
Ice skating
Internship
PI 100 fieldtrip
Graduation picture shoot
Foooood
Time with faaam
Time with frieeends
Aaaaah, my heart is full. Weirdly, this year, I had the most hectic sem ever but also, the chillest one (to date) after. Thank you 2017!! I do not have clear plans for the year ahead (omygod h e l p), but let’s go 2018!
We’ve been allotting an hour every two weeks for ice skating! It’s not really an hour, more like a whole afternoon, if you count going to the mall and eating.
The best part is that we get to skate for free thanks to an app. We just have to meet a certain step goal per week. Hitting two birds with one stone!
Just finished our third session and we’re kind of gettimg better. Much better than during the first time when we had a kid we didn’t know to teach us. Can’t even let go of the bar at the side.
I’ve seen different ice skating movies in the past and being able to try it in real life is a great experience. 7 year old me watching Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus (this was one of my favorites, no shame!!) would be proud.
I got myself a new laptop recently (thank you, internship money) since my old one was giving up on me. But that’s a topic for another post.
Given that, I challenged myself to practice my Illustrator skills everyday and started this project! I’ve waited for 20 days before announcing it here, to see if I really could commit to doing it. I am!!
Here are some of my favorites so far. Every 10 days, I change up the subject of what I do. That explains the buildings and Pokémon. These usually take up an hour or so of my time. So far, I’ve been managing time well enough.
If you would like to see the other illustrations I’ve done (plus, a short description about each), I’ve put up another blog for it here. I’ll be posting there for the next 80 days (I hope!!). Let’s see!
Edit: Life got in the way. It became 20 Days of Vector. Woops.
Hey! The last post I made here was about my first legit interview. I got the internship and it’s been a week (on Friday!) since it ended. Here’s a few highlights.
Got to explore Taguig :—)
Harry Potter themed internship
Turned strangers and acquaintances into friends
Lived in a new place for two months
Learned so much, both in and out of work
Got a great pay!! Can’t forget that
Got to be independent-ish
Finished Mr. Robot Season 2
Started watching The Big Bang Theory
Attended tech-y stuff!!
Found a new love: the podcast Invisibilia
Watched new movies with the people I love ahihi
Went back to UP a couple of times (missing it more each time)
MRT alone!! Always rode it with some company before
Improved navigation skillz
Still depended on Uber once in a while
Became more observant
Never thought this would even happen. These past two months have been exciting. I’m off to my (hopefully) last year of uni next week. I’ll miss this!
Half of my Monday was spent at BGC for an interview at a company. Time flies. Some time ago I was just looking at brochures of universities! My ghad time stop.
My friend and I arrived 15 minutes past 6 AM. The scheduled time for my interview was 2 hours away, my friend’s was at 7 AM. I had quite some time to roam around the place. I needed a break. And some coffee. Hooray for 3 hours of sleep.
Being from the North, I was rarely here. It was nice to just walk and explore. Plus eat pancakes and a hash brown at McDo. It was a busy Monday morning for everyone; I can actually imagine myself being a part of it. I don’t know if I’ll like it, though. I like the place but it's a hassle to go to.
Small things like these keep me sane. It’s not a new place per say, but I still get giddy everytime I find myself somewhere unfamiliar. It’s a new thing to figure out. A way to keep myself busy and distracted from life. And from the interview and exam. Which went well, in case you’re wondering, thankfully.
I rarely like Monday Mornings. This one was an exception.
I will never get tired of exploring the campus and taking photographs in the process. It’s a great way to get my mind off of, well, life in general. Hey UP, you messed me up a ton but I’ll always love you.
2017′s really something, so far. I’m turning 19 in a week, too. That has not sinked in yet. (How to adult?) This post is a result of me blocking FB and Twitter in an attempt to finally start working on my piled up work. Well, that is not happening anytime soon. So, here’s a list of things that made this year “really something, so far”.
Hackathon with friends
Resume, internship, job fair, exam, interview
Sick for weeks, not good
Mystery Manila
Folk Dance for PE (I’m surviving, yes)
Monopoly for 2-3 hours, this might be the first and last (this ruins friendships)
Food!! (Yabu, Sushi Nori, Beef X, S&R, Maginhawa in general HAHA) (Filed under: Mag-exercise ka na Jaye)
New books to read <3
Bowling, hooray for beginner’s luck
Dorm supply shopping at Divisoria
Films!! (Saving Sally, Seklusyon, & Oro)
Jogging and badminton... yeah, this stopped a few weeks after
The (more than, hopefully) once in a year catch up with high school friends
Casey Neistat’s vlogs
Ahhhh I’m actually an SA somewhere in the campus and I’m just realizing how great of a decision it is, after more than a year of working there
Sherlock (Season 4), Black Mirror (Seasons 2 & 3) and Silicon Valley (Season 3)
HAHA what is acads. Fine, I’ll start now. I’m still up for conversations though. Missed you, Tumblr!!
This year, we’ve been trying to exercise more. We find time for jogging or badminton after classes. I’ve been loving the campus more because of it. How can this place be this lovely and yet stressful at the same time? I’m glad I’m here though, there’s no doubt about that.
Is it too late for a new year post? I always find myself coming back here. Wow, 2016 just flew by. It was one for the books, well, mostly, for me. Here’s to the new year. And to hopefully updating this blog more.
Ah, the things you end up doing when you’re alone in your dorm room without anything productive to do. I should probably write down my goals for this year, just in time before classes start. Wish me luck. I hope 2017 treats you well!
I’ve been feeling under the weather these past few days. Blaming you, changing weather. Anyway, here I am, making a happy list or life lately of sorts for August because that’s me, which is a good enough reason. Also, I’m too lazy to write for the required blog we have in a major course.
5~ hours line for PE 1
New dorm with less insects
Finished Mr. Robot!!
Restored friendship with After Effects
Pokemon Go (of course)
New glasses
Dinners at Maginhawa and KNL
Flooooood (this is actually a bad thing but it was fun, too)
NIGS canteen (we miss you CS lib)
Snapchat
Watching Eiga Sai films
Bought a book, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore!
3 free McDo chicken fillet meals
Monopoly
Some of these may not be clear; I didn’t write any explanations. Not like they need any in the first place. Here’s to September! Should probably go back to doing acads. Or sleep. Hope you’re feeling well!!
Editing photos is now becoming a stress relief of some sort. More photos from Universal. Such a stress-less (Is this a word?) place.
Some rides and attractions to try:
Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle - B e s t. If you can (and if you want to), sit up front!!
Revenge of the Mummy (!!)
Shrek’s 4D Adventure
Madagascar: A Crate Adventure
Battlestar Galactica - I did not get to try this one; no one wanted to except me.
Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure - You will get wet. Actually, it depends on where you’ll sit. I hope you’re lucky. I was. Still got wet.
Oh, and watch the parade!
If you are planning on going here, buy an express pass! It is a bit expensive but it cuts your waiting time to more than half. We did not buy + we went on a weekend. Regrets. Still, just walking, eating, and exploring the theme park was wonderful!
