GEORGES HOBEIKA - FALL WINTER 2016-2017 - PFW

In his new ready-to-wear collection for Fall Winter 2016/17, couturier Georges Hobeika prepares for us a very strong collection that goes far beyond meeting the needs of his clients. Equally dominated by pink, black, royal blue, sea foam green, deep olive and crimson red, there are many beautiful gowns and cocktail dresses. The designer also give us an indispensable jumpsuit for the season and even some near-flat, simple sandals with just a small heel.

It all began in 2014-2015, titled “Selfie Worker”. This concept was introduced to influence research for new technologies in line with the demands at the forefront of our time, resulting in a self-analysis. I have reached my turning point; each of us has a dark side that represses our true essence. Through introspection, we can bring out the best versions of ourselves, overpowering fear and insecurity, hence the metaphor of the cracks where powerful Light, which signifies love and appreciation, escapes. In this long journey, equally important were the contributions of Alberto Burri and Willy Verginer, having enabled me to liberate my feelings.

For the next Fall/Winter season Oilily used ethnic diversity as its inspiration to create their collection. It’s fascinating to see how well the surprising combinations look together and still are very cohesive: colors, materials and styles all got turned upside down, and we love it! Besides the development of beautiful new designs to wear, Oilily also manages to inspire us with imaginative styling possibilities which we are dying to try for ourselves.

After an enthusiastic review on Chapter Friday, we were more than curious to see the presentation of MICKKEUS during the Amsterdam Fashionweek! While sitting down, the designer already left us a message: “WARNING! This show contains REALITY”. Not long after, the models started showing up behind curtains one after another, walking fast as if they are on their way to an appointment.
