“i don’t think you’ve got to worry.“
gany leans back – rocking precariously on the back two legs of his chair, both hands behind his head as he asks, “weren’t you his favorite? that’s what it seemed like. nobody’s gonna blame the potential heir. if it means anything – i think you’d make a good queen.” at the mention of spouses, gany’s tone turns dry. “sure. or those fingers pointing at his lover. that’s gotta be a long list.”
“I’m unsure of the truth of that, but either way, it would’ve been a well earned moniker.” A satisfied half smile flashed across Athena’s face. Had she been Zeus’s favorite? It was difficult to tell. “I have no intention of being anyone’s queen.” At least that was an easy truth to deliver. Athena was much too content with her human occupation. Teaching gave her some sort of purpose in this world that changed constantly but never enough.
“If anything,” she began, drumming her fingers against her thigh, “I think that that gives the spouse even more of a motive. Don’t you?”

Medusa chuckled her eyes drifting from the screen on her camera back to her friend. “Oh please, you and I both know I’ve taken some of the best photos of you. Your candid photos will always be my favorite, that little slice of Lee when no one is looking” She nudges his side some and then holds the camera over to him for him to see the photo she took. “Sometimes it looks calmer. that brief moment of just people existing and getting fresh air without worrying about wars or what other people think about them”
The argument died on Achilles’s lips as quickly as it had risen. He didn’t enjoy photos, but Medusa did have quite the eye. A notion which was reinforced as he glanced at the photo she had snapped. It was difficult to believe that that was him. “You’re very talented,” he said simply. He paused for a bit as he considered her words. “I guess I never thought of it like that.”

hades + open !
the king of the death was tired . his usual flawless face now had bags under his eyes . it was hard for him , not knowing . he knew his brother had many ( many ) enemies . “ but who is stronger than the king of the gods ? ” he mumbled , not even realizing the words had left his mouth .
Poseidon had been lost in his own thoughts. Zeus’s death had affected them in different ways and he was still trying to figure out just how he felt about it all. “Does it even matter,” he heard himself say. To his own ears, the question sounded jaded. If Zeus could die, the rest of them were no longer safe. Sure, he wanted to know the identity of the killer, but just the act was enough to rock his entire world... to shift the things he’d simply taken for granted.
“You look like absolute shit, by the way.” At the last second, he added, almost jokingly: “I say that as respectfully as possible, of course.”
Photography had always been a passion of Medusa’s. She grew up with camera in her hand, though usually one of those disposable ones. It had taken her well into her teens until she’d manage to scrounge up enough money through working odd jobs to buy a decent camera, planning to start her life as a photographer. Her plans had been derailed and that passion had been demoted from career to hobby.
Settled in the park her eyes drifted over the landscape searching for the perfect lighting, the perfect shot. Granted right as she found it she noticed someone giving her the side eye. “I’m not trying to take a picture of you I promise..unless you want me to”

Quiet. It was all Achilles craved nowadays. Life was fists and busted knuckles; he’d gotten used to it -- the constant feeling of threat hovering behind every corner, the taste of blood in his mouth. But some days he wanted more. On those days, he made his way to the park. There, he could watch the children playing as if they had no cares in the world and envy them the innocence of youth, and the lovers who were more concerned more with the looks of love that passed from their lover’s gaze than the things happening around them. He envied them all of their carefree approach to existence.
“That’s what you always say,” Achilles replied, turning to glance at Medusa. The reverie with which he’d been regarding those around him was now broken. “Does the world look different from there?”
“you know – if you don’t cry they’re gonna think you did it.“
gany takes a sip of wine, crossing and uncrossing his legs before making his point. “i’ve seen enough true crime shows. it’s either too little tears, or too much. you have to pretend like you’re holding the emotion in. then you – ” he takes a breath, closes his eyes, and cries on cue.
“can’t ugly cry either. pretty privilege.” he dabs his face with his sleeve. “you try it.”
Athena watched in fascination as the emotions flashed across Ganymede’s face. “Too much work,” she concluded after a few seconds. Her own expression was more ineffable. She’d never really been one to convey much through the flashes that passed across her face. It was one of the reasons why she’d often been accused of being cold-hearted.
“I do believe I’m quite safe from accusation without your coaching,” she reflected, chin resting on one hand. “Fingers always point to the spouse first.”
“you know – i was voted most beautiful god of 2020 on this poll the other day. thousands of votes. so of course it has to be valid.“
dionysus is clearly pleased with himself. “not that i’m trying to drive aphrodite out of a job. no, no, no. having to constantly deal with matters of the heart? how exhausting. not sure how ‘dite does all of that. but it’s nice to be recognized for my gifts.” he softens his voice, projecting sympathy as he leans close, “maybe you’ll come in third next time, love. tough competition out there.”
A scoff and rolled eyes. That was the response that Athena offered at Dionysus’s words. She could hardly be concerned with such trivial matters. “And who, pray tell, were those thousands of votes from?” She regarded him with raised brows, the accusation in her eyes even as it fell from her lips. “You wouldn’t have happened to pad the vote in your favor, would you? Because that questions the legitimacy of the results.”

A laugh that sounded something like a bark fell from Poseidon’s lips. He wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting, but that was hardly it. “Quite the honor,” he commended, clapping the other god on his shoulder. “So who was most beautiful among us before then? And since? Did you manage to maintain your crown in 2021?”

06. the lovers : how important are relationships to your muse ? do they value having a significant other ? + achilles
Achilles is terrible at romantic love. As with all of his relationships, he is fiercely protective, but romantic love requires a vulnerability that he simply isn’t sure he’s capable of. That being said, were he in a relationship, Achilles would value it as he values his life and fight for it with every breath in his body.
