My second blog. Dedicated to conjurer and rootwork and all things dealing with magic I've been interested in this path for a while, but not knowing where to start. i've decided to create a blog dedicating it exactly to this, and meeting others along the journey. Haven’t posted here in forever. My current significant other’s ex paid someone to make my life miserable. I was wondering what was going on with me, because I’m pretty much blessed into Haitian Vodou had my head cleansed and I felt so off mentally. I finally reached out to my mambo and as soon as she got on the phone she said who is this that put witchcraft on you 😳 my mouth dropped because I felt that that person did something. But yeah she paid someone. So now me and my manbo are going through the process of returning that energy back to its sender. Y’all be careful out here in these spiritual streets. Stuff like that is the reason I don’t deal with too many people. I haven’t done anything wrong to the girl

The guy my partner, we’ve been friends for 12 years. He told me that they were over. My mambo explained the situation down to the tea. She said they got into an argument and the dude told her that he wanted to be with me and she got mad behind that. It’s not something that I’m proud of in my mind I was told that they were over it wasn’t my intention to steal anyone’s boyfriend

I give thanks to the ancestors for showing me people for who they really are. I always question why I go through the shit that I go through, but it’s really spirit showing me that these people aren’t right for me. It took me a year to realize that. I feel relief. Sometimes we wonder why our magic don’t work or isn’t as effective as we want it to be, it’s because there really are spiritual protections placed around us. It’s also good to do divination work beforehand as well.

Momma said “you have all the tools over there why you don’t use it” I really don’t know momma lol. I do have a bookshelf full of candles and herbs. School just takes up so much of my time. if it aint school it’s cleaning my house when I have free time. I’m really just drained mentally.

Then I’m stressed about kanzo, because I’m supposed to get initiated in december and I don’t even have the money for that. Now I wanna go hide.

I’m looking forward to my mom coming for thanksgiving so that she can teach me how to play this ouija board, because it’s just been sitting here lol.

Just because a book about Hoodoo is authored by a Black person, doesn’t necessarily mean the information in said book is accurate. There are people (and yes, some of them are Black) that stand to profit from misinforming you, or are misinformed in their own right and just spreading whatever misinformation they learned from some white person. Either way, if you must rely on Hoodoo books (and you really don’t have to/should not rely on them, in my opinion), let your book selections be Spirit led.

I feel all of this, but at the end of the day spirit don’t see color. Spirit choose who they want to choose not us. I have saw some mambos that won’t i initiate white people. But it’s spirit who chooses who gets to initiate or not. It’s Ogou who chooses who gets initiated into Haitian Vodou not the mambo or hougan. Y’all forgot about spirit huh 😕 we worship spirit not humans. Spirit will always have the say so and your ancestors. Y’all gotta get y’all a teacher and stop reading bullshit off the internet and these YouTube witches. The root of all of this is spirit please don’t lose sight of that. We work for spirit spirit don’t work for us, unless you are trained to do that which are higher up priests/priestesses

These ATRs it ain’t no just jumping into saying you wanna get initiated. I do get irritated about how “hoodoo” I call it conjure because I’m from the south, how it’s getting away from its original roots. Conjure is everything. It’s the dirt. It’s the herbs, the candles hell the bible. So I do agree with that aspect of spirituality, but people these days try and make the shit pretty. Ain’t nothing pretty about conjure lol. But everyone is different. And me personally I like the old school way of things

I’m buying a ouija board today. I don’t know why I felt the need to ask my mambo, but she was saying how ouija boards are apart of my culture

My mom has been using them since I was younger she said that my great aunt taught her how to use them. I’m not afraid of them. She told me to get one and practice with it.

I’m thankful to have a spiritual mom/teacher. I just hope that I don’t disappoint her

I love the fall. I love the taste of pumpkin flavored coffee. I love to see the leaves fall off the trees. I love the coolness in the morning. Even the sun sets different. I love the fall so much, but why tf am I so depressed. I feel like I’ll never be happy. I can be out doing the most happiest things all day and come home and just get sad. I try to think about things that makes me happy, or those past moments when I was happy, and I sometimes feel like I won’t be in those places anymore. The fall makes me happy. But it’s here and I still feel shitty.

I’m so socially awkward it’s so hard to make friends without me being so awkward. Like I’m too old for this shit. It’s getting harder to get up and go to class everyday, but this is what I signed up for when I decided to go back to nursing school. I tell myself everyday that it’ll get better, but I’m still waiting on that day. My anxiety won’t let me do shit. I’m trying to hold on mentally, it’s starting to get hard, but I’m not dropping out of nursing school again. I hate that I did the first time. I think I’m just tired

Just wanted to add we do honor the orisha in Haitian vodou as lwa (Ogou, Shango, etc), but most lwa aren’t simultaneously orisha.

And yes, as Mama Rue would say, many marketeers afoot.

Yes my mambo/spiritual mom acknowledges Oshun, but some people mistake the orisha as being lwa. I have my head blessed in Haitian Vodou and supposed to get initiated in December. I also have Shango in Orisha Ifa, but those energies are different. I appreciate your input ❤️

As I go back through my old posts I realize how stupid some of my shit sound and look. I have a more clear understanding of some things.

My spiritual mom/mambo told me “your faith is your power”

I love her so much. Before getting a reading done, I use to watch all of her videos on Youtube i followed her on facebook, to make sure Haitian Vodou was something I wanted to dedicate my life to. I did reach out to other mambos before her, but I didn’t feel comfortable at all with them. 

One did me a divination reading that didn’t have anything to do with me, another I think practiced New Orleans Vodou and she did everything different, and  sometimes I questioned if she was even legit, she never talked about kanzo etc

I finally booked  a reading with my current mom, who told me that I’m a chosen one from both sides of my family. She said that I needed to get a Lave Tet  done. I ended  up taking a contract job(I usually take contract jobs when I need  a  large amount of money quick)

I left that contract with the amount of money I needed included travel. We schedule the lave tet to be towards the end of july, but I contacted her earlier and asked if it was possible to go ahead and get it done. She ended up calling me and saying “Oh hey I’m in new york” i said look at spirit

Me and my partner drove 17 hours to New York.I didn’t question anything or have any doubts. I said I’m coming, I’m on the way.

It was one of the longest road trips I’ve taken  in my life, except for driving from MS to West Virginia. The scenery was beautiful. New Jersey was  beautiful. On the way we  pulled over once in TN to rest, when  I woke up I continued to drive and ended up running over something on  the highway  which caused me  to get a flat tire. I debated about driving  on  a  donut, but we decided to just get a hotel in  TN and get a tire the next morning. We jumped up at 8 and headed on out.

We  ended  up making it to New York at 9pm that night, Traffic was horrible. I never seen  anything like it.lol. I ended up parking  my car in a parking garage,I’m sure I spent 200$ on  that  alone.smh. It even got scratched and the guy was rude about it.

I got a chance to eat some New York food. I walked around a littel before everything happened. I’m going to skip over the details of the actual lave tet

But i know that I was told to kanzo in December or January by a particular lwa that I was able to meet And that I have to marry 3 lwas

I’m excited, I haven’t been thinking about how I’m going to pay for it, because that particular lwa said they would take care  of everything, and I don’t doubt spirit. So as of right now, I’m taking care of myself and paying attentioon to my dreams. I think this entry is mainly for myself to go back and reflect on ha!

And my hair still smells good from the lave tet.  I want to just wrap it up and keep the scent it. This happened almost 4 weeks ago

I’ll actually be in Haiti in December, I’ve always wanted to visit Haiti.  I heard how spiritual the land is. I’ve visited a country in Africa before, so I’’m happy about  going out of the country again.

After all her family was made aware, it was made public yesterday that Marie Thérèse Alourdes Macena Champagne Lovinski--better known as Mama Lola, of Mama Lola: A Vodou Priestess in Brooklyn fame--had passed away.

With her pitit fey Karen McCarthy Brown, Lola collaborated to produce possibly the most well-known book about Haitian Vodou to date, providing an important picture of what the religion looks like from the inside.

For me, the work Lola contributed to informed me about what I wanted my relationship with my spiritual mother to be. It's a very warm, human book, and reading it feels like being in my mother's home.

It was a divisive book in every direction. Academics raised their eyebrows because the manuscript was not based in standard observe-report-critique format but more a narrative autoethnography full of soul...and how could it not have been when Dr. McCarthy Brown was writing about her spiritual mother? Practitioners raised their eyebrows because this was the first time a Haitian voice had been a part of a major published work. It is by far my most recommended book to get a picture of what the culture of Haitian Vodou can be like.

In the religion and in Haitian culture when someone passes, we say woukoukou because a great tree has fallen. May Lola wake in Ginen and meet the mysteries she served for so long and loved so well, and be greeted as a priest, servant, and beloved wife. May all her children and those who loved her be comforted in their grief.

Dreams 5.10.20

Every since getting a reading done by Mambo, I was told to pay attention to my dreams. I’ve been writing them down and trying to interpret them. I started talking to my partner about them and he was pretty much saying to go by my own interpretation and not read what’s on the internet. I felt some type of way, but I also understood where he was coming from

My mom has been interpreting her dreams for years and she said that they always came true in two weeks time. I know that everyone lives are different. I started to feel a little discouraged when he told me that.

But last night I had a dream about a woman proposing to me. I know that it probably wont exactly mean marriage in the future. I also believe in spirit spouses and I know that they exist. But in my dream I was in a poly relationship and the woman also bought my partner an engagement ring. To me it symbolied a new beginning. I was even in a new city. I don’t know. I’m going to go tend to my altars

But all of my dreams recently have been about new beginnings and prosperity
