The neogender definition is confusing and that's frustrating me. Can you make it simpler? Are xenogenders considered neogenders and if they aren't why wouldn't they be? They were literally coined after 2000.
This post is about the Neogender page (as of June 10th 2025) for any viewers reading this post far in the future.
The current content of the Neogender page is entirely imported from another wiki (The-Mogai-Community Wiki on FANDOM), per the banner at the top of the page. We didn't write the definition¹ and do not necessarily agree with the page contents or a quoted definition. I also personally do not know why the page was written the way it is, or what the writer(s) intended. The given definition for neogender does explicitly include xenogenders. Here is the definition of Neogender straight from the cited coining post:
Neogender is an umbrella term used to describe any gender coined/created in or after the year 2000. It also includes genders that were given definitions in or after 2000, as long as there was no strong implied definition and/or it was used to describe something different than does now.
Neogenders are also MOGAI genders and any genders that don’t fit under Neogender aren’t MOGAI genders. That doesn’t exclude genders that fall under Xenogender, Aesthetigender, etc. due to both of them and every term under them being neogenders.
I think that your confusion may stem from misreading "exclude" as "include." Please note that due to our wiki policy we will not try to simplify this definition, we will quote it directly in our Definitions section when the page is eventually reformatted and rewritten.
¹ If you look at the coining post, you will find that the term was coined by a tumblr blog in 2020 by the name of "mogai-wiki." That, however, is not this blog and doesn't have any affiliation with this blog or our wiki. I don't know who owned the previous mogai-wiki or what happened to that blog, but our wiki was called Ezgender Wiki (named after the previous wiki owner) until 2022. We changed our blog name when moving from FANDOM to Miraheze. I don't know why the archive's website icon uses the current image, but you can see on the edit history of the wiki page that the wiki was still "ezgender" in 2021, after the term was coined, and that our blog URL was ezgender-wiki in 2022.
hey this is Cas and I was wondering, how do i go about archiving a gender that i coined? I dont want my personal accounts tied to it but I would like to let people know about it :)
You can use web.archive.org or archive.is to archive a gender coining!
Hello!I don’t use tumblr so I think I am doing this right? I want to submit a page for my coined term “paregender” for intersex people like myself. However I have no idea how to do that. -- Someone named Jax
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Hi Jax!! To create a page you navigate to that page name and click “create this page,” or the “create” or “create source” buttons at the top. Here would be the page for “paregender”: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Paregender
As it is a gender you will want to use this template to create the page: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Guide:Gender (To use it, click view source and copy the page contents, then paste it into the source editor on Paregender. Then fill it out by replacing the placeholder text.)
Before creating the page you will want to read the editor guide pages that tell you our guidelines: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Editing_Guide + https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Editing_Guide/Citing_Standards + https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Editing_Guide/File_Standards
If you need more help feel free to submit another ask or join the discord at https://discord.gg/T6zXEVnD5z which will get you a faster reply probably as I am not very active on Tumblr.
(Also, you submitted a post to the blog, but I think what you actually wanted to do was submit an ask. No worries I’m also not great with Tumblr!) -- Paul
Hi everyone! Recently you may have noticed that our wiki is no longer online (error message: “Wiki temporarily unavailable”). This is because the database (db141) it was being hosted on is no longer accessible for some reason. We don’t know why this is the case, but this is a Miraheze issue that affects many other wikis as well. We don’t know when or if the wiki will come back online, and we can’t do anything to resolve the issue ourselves. We will make another post when the wiki comes back online or if it can’t be recovered.

i saw the recent post about the wiki outage, is that why all pages "currently have no text" in them when i visit off of search results? hope this all can be fixed :[ otherwise, i did see an archive of the wiki on archive, org if y'all ever need to rebuild
Yes, the wiki outage is why there are no pages on the wiki right now. The site itself has been put back up, but the data has been lost, so they need to restore it. We will be using the web archive data to restore the wiki, we are just waiting for Miraheze to do it. (Nobody can edit the wiki currently, not even staff, because none of our usergroups have been restored.) There is no backup of our wiki aside from the web.archive.org backup and the XML one I (Paul) have saved to my computer from when we migrated from FANDOM.
At this time we have no ETA on the restoration of the wiki, but it should be soon.

Somewhat of an update: It appears they suspect that the SSDs have been corrupted and they are sending them to a data recovery service. This will take at least a week, so we won’t know if the wikis can be recovered until after November 27th. From what I can tell, there are backups, but they are from October 1st or older. The most recent backups got sent to the void. There are possibly some internal database backups, but I’m not sure. Worst case scenario for this wiki, I have an XML backup on my personal computer which we can use to restore it to a much older version (but still a version and not have to restart totally from scratch.)
Tomorrow (November 23rd, 8am Pacific time) they are having a Miraheze Meeting in their official Discord server over text. There will be an announcement about db141 wikis during the meeting. Please note that this meeting is about all of Miraheze and not any specific wiki. You can use this link to join and mark yourself as interested in this event.

* It was clarified in later posts definitively that he meant the week of November 27th would be the earliest time they could get the SSDs recovered and returned. It may take longer.

Can I please have a list of feminine floragenders?
And is there any gender feeling fairy-like but in the pokemon sense?
Hi, we don’t do gender lists/suggestions on this blog. If you join the discord you can ask there in our assign-me channel and get some suggestions :)
I did find these really quickly for you though.
https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Fairipokeac Fairy-type pokemon gender
https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Floragender All genders in the category “Floragender” on our wiki.
https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Peonygender I took a glance and found this one which says it’s connected to femininity, but I didn’t see any that were outright feminine.
Hi! I wanna add on to the wiki, but i have limited internet access (meaning I can’t make long pages). I still wanna help though! I have coined a few terms and I thought they would be good additions. I understand if you say no, but i hop you consider.
(• u •)
Hi! You do not need to make a complete or long page to edit the wiki. It is ok to make small edits, and to edit or add on to existing pages. It’s ok to make a barebones page as long as you include a source. The wiki is open to edit for everyone as long as they have a Miraheze account, which is free to make. Anyone can add their MOGAI terms to the wiki as long as they have been coined off of the wiki and the link to that coining (called “the source”) is provided.
There are some channels in the Discord dedicated to providing a starting point for editing (like, what can you do?), so I’m going to pick out some of the suggestions that might be helpful. I might add the text from the channel into a page on the wiki later.
- Adding pronunciations to pages, and updating older pages to use the dedicated template.
It’s not always clear how to pronounce a given term. That’s why we have a dedicated Pronunciation section for all terms. However, pretty much all imported pages, and many others, don’t have a pronunciation section filled out at all, or only have one partially filled out. Some people find it hard to write pronunciations, and many aren’t comfortable recording themselves speaking the word. A text pronunciation can be added to a page using this template: {{Pronunciation|Phonetic=|IPA=}}
This site can be used as a reference for text pronunciations:
Phonetic: https://easypronunciation.com/en/phonetic-symbols-chart/american-english/phonetic-spelling
IPA: https://easypronunciation.com/en/american-english-pronunciation-ipa-chart
Generator (not always accurate): https://easypronunciation.com/en/english-phonetic-transcription-converter
Pages needing one or both types of pronunciation: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Needs_Pronunciation
Needing written pronunciation: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Needs_Written_Pronunciation
Needing audio pronunciation: https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Needs_Audio_Pronunciation
Adding a written pronunciation doesn’t take much time or bandwidth, so it should be accessible to someone with slow and limited internet.
- Adding image descriptions to file pages.
A lot of people find transcribing and describing images difficult. This means there are a lot of images lacking image IDs on the wiki. But image IDs are essential to making the wiki more accessible to disabled people and people with poor internet who can’t load images, so adding them to images that lack them is always needed.
Images without descriptions are in the category https://mogai.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Needs_Description_(Image).
An image description goes on the file page for the image. Click source, then put the image description into the textbox. Most files don’t have it yet, but the template Image should be used on images, and it has a dedicated spot for image IDs.
To use the template, type/paste {{Image|id=|idnote=|source=|sourcenote=|note=}} and put the image ID after id= and the link to the image’s source after source=.
A concise but informative guide on writing image descriptions can be found here: https://archive.ph/JmoMi This guide can be applied to all images, including flags and screenshots.
Another guide can be found here: https://archive.ph/v8aic This one is specifically about flag descriptions for the visually impaired.
There is a dedicated channel in the discord for image transcription requests and has some helpful tips. You can also look at file pages that have a description already and mimic those. If you are in the discord you can provide descriptions without editing the wiki at all when people ask for them. I’m not sure how bandwidth friendly this is, but most flags don’t need a terribly complex or time-consuming to write description.
Another task is renaming/moving file pages to descriptive names. There are a lot of file pages that are named some random nonsense string or like “Gay (47).png” which makes them hard to find or use. It’s also helpful to add sources to image files, but it may take quite some time to find their sources depending on the flag.
Edit: I realized this post was extremely long so I added in a read more.
Hi, I'd like to help with adding pronunciations and missing flags/symbols/sources to the wiki! My miraheze name is "Bigender" (and I think I already have a few edits on there from before it was locked, MOGAI info is my SPIN)
Hey, I'm the original coiner of the term "EnderMasc." Is there any way I could get it removed? I don't really want the term out there anymore, and I personally associate it with old aliases that I don't really like to remember.
I removed it, thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay.
