So there's lots of talk in the DC fandom about wanting to encourage more people to actually read the comics and move away from fandom conceptualizations of characters. It's always a question of how we do that as a fandom.
Well, I think something that is not discussed enough is how bad the DC wiki is. Many Pre-Flashpoint (New Earth) pages are too short, inaccurate, and lacking citations. A vast majority of Post-Flashpoint (Prime Earth) pages lack anything from the last 5 years. For instance, Damian Wayne's page's last storyline summary is from the Supersons comic prior to the Lazarus Contract storyline. This means his page does not have Alfred's death, his Robin solo, or the current Batman and Robin run. Much of fandom only engages with him up to Supersons, which is reinforced by the wiki lacking anything he's does since! He's just one example of many.
So what do we do about it? Well it's quite easy, update the wiki! If you're an active reader of current comics, go check the pages for the characters you love and give an some summaries for important storylines. Reading back issues, check New Earth pages for characters to make sure they're accurate. You don't need to summarize every issue, just include things that are vital for a birds eye view of a character's history. (And if you have more questions the wiki has a discord they advertise on the wiki or you can dm me and I can see if I can be of assistance)
I don't think fixing the wiki will make fanon stuff we don't like disappear but it will make it easier for people getting into these characters to know who they are and easily find comics they want to read!
