With deep sorrow, we say goodbye to little Abdullah Abu Zorqa (5 years old), the child whose heartbreaking cry “I’m hungry” shook the world.
He passed away today in a hospital in Adana – Turkey, after his fragile body gave in to illness and hunger, deprived of medicine and proper treatment in Gaza.
Abdullah is gone, but hundreds of children in Gaza are still facing the same fate — slowly fading away without food, without medicine, without hope.

Today, I want to ask that you spare some time and attention for the Shamaly family @familymajed2. They have been fundraising to survive the ongoing genocide in Ghazzah for over a year now. Unfortunately, donations have been exceedingly slow, often stopping for days or even months on end. Because of this, they have yet to reach even 30% of their total goal.
The Shamaly family is large, and includes over 15 children. Some of these children are being taken care of by their aunts and uncles in the family, as their father was martyred, leaving them orphaned. These kids have had to grieve the loss of a parent while suffering through hunger and fear of bombing.
Necessities like food and shelter are extremely expensive in Ghazzah right now, and aid is very hard to come by. The Shamaly family needs your help to get necessities to stay alive. We are one of those families.
Our home was destroyed, and we’ve been displaced seven times, living through some of the harshest and most painful days imaginable. As I write this, my family and I — including our children — can barely find enough to eat. Even bread has become a dream. When we do find a little, we give it to the children, because it is too expensive and so rarely available.
There is no food. No medicine. No safety.
Death and bombing are constant — every day brings more than a hundred martyrs, many of whom die simply trying to reach the so-called “aid distribution points,” which have become death traps.
And beyond the horrors of hunger, siege, and destruction, there’s another deep wound that has been neglected: education.
Our children have now lost two full school years. What future awaits them in a world where they are denied even the right to learn?
My family is trying to rebuild what little we can. We are making every effort to get our children back into school — despite the high costs — because we cannot bear to see them lose another year.
