so Please Stay has fewer direct references to Julien than Graceland Too, and I get the sense from her interviews and from the song that Lucy wasn’t necessarily writing about just one person, while Phoebe’s was pretty clearly directed at a particular individual. that said, it’s difficult to imagine that Julien wasn’t on Lucy’s mind for this one, especially given the lyrical references (new dog, going back to school, breaking a vow) and the timing (written in Sep 2019)

other note: Please Stay is incredible, lucy has always had such a gift for writing her love and i think this might be her best example
