Anthony Stewart Head was one of the most amazing actors I even saw on tv growing up. I loved him on Buffy and adored him in Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Honestly, I don't blame Ar-Pharazôn at all—I'd cut down a sacred tree for Sauron too 🥀

Also, I'm going to yap a little!!

My idea of what Sauron looked like in Númenor!! It seems the fandom doesn’t have a completely unified vision on this (while most people draw him with red hair during his era with Morgoth, with Celebrimbor he has light blonde to white hair), and there isn’t a consistent version for Númenor. My version is somewhere in between—kind of golden, almost orange-tinged hair. I think that Sauron in Númenor would have chosen to look masculine enough to flatter Ar-Pharazôn’s ego and the notion that he had “conquered such a powerful being, the self-proclaimed king of the world,” but at the same time he would have retained a very feminine, delicate manner of expression, dress, behavior, and movement—as a contrast to his body and also as a way to seduce Ar-Pharazôn and remind him that he is powerless under his rule 👀 I also think this version would keep freckles, like, “from the sun,” and of course, Ar-Pharazôn would have him dressed in gold all the time, including gold dust as makeup and such. That’s also the basis for my choice of hair color—Sauron voluntarily becomes part of Ar-Pharazôn’s treasure.

Well, anyway, that was my rambling; it’s all headcanon, of course, because we don’t really know what Sauron looked like except for the fact that he was unfairly beautiful, but as an artist and writer, I always like to focus on the aspect that Sauron can shape his appearance to the utmost perfection for whatever purpose he needs—and I enjoy analyzing why he might choose different, well, “design” choices 😝
