In tarot, Judgement often depicts the day of judgment, with the Rider-Waite deck (the most well-known tarot deck, which is often used as a reference point when designing one's own deck) portraying a scene of the dead rising at the sound of an angel's trumpet call. The meanings associated with the card include keywords such as self-awareness, reckoning, and truth. It can be interpreted differently depending on who is reading the card, but one common interpretation is that it represents discovering a truth about oneself and being called to act upon it.
I felt that this scene fit Judgement pretty well, as it's about Kim Soleum being presented with a very harsh truth about himself, bringing about a revelation about who and what he is. Just a little disclaimer now that I'm not an expert on tarot, I just find it interesting and used to collect cards because they were pretty lol.
There's also some more literal reasons why I paired this scene with Judgement. As stated before, the card usually depicts an angel with a trumpet announcing the day of judgment; I think having the music box, which reveals the truth of the world to the listener, was fitting (also, as a minor fun fact, the next card in the deck is The World). The day of judgment is also seen as part of the end of the world, which pairs well with how Kim Soleum's summoning essentially kick-started a mini apocalypse.
Other things!
The bronze part of the halo is actually from an image of a music box disk. Old, large music boxes looked more like record players, with songs being made on metal disks rather than cylinders.
The lighting used for OG Kim Soleum's face is known in photography as butterfly lighting due to the shape of the shadow under the nose. Considering butterflies can symbolize rebirth, which is also a keyword often associated with Judgement, I thought it was a fun coincidence.
anyways that's all my yapping for now. for anyone curious, both soleums were drawn in ms paint, part of the halo was done in some random math website, and the rest was done in rip-off photoshop through the power of the pencil tool, minor collaging, 18 different hand PNGs, and a concerning amount of filters and layers. hashtag yolo

the drawing app that i was using on my phone kinda fucked itself over with its ads for its premium version to the point where saving was fully blocked unless you bought premium, so i'm trying ibispaint but honestly i really hate it. i can adjust to a new layout but i got really attached to the brushes i was using on the other app, and i'm really picky about brushes bc if they don't feel right then i won't use them.
the first app now unblocked the save function (i think it was likely a bug. but now i have to wait five minutes to save while it plays an ad for premium)
