the artfight theme pisses me off so much because itās not even historically accurate to where the masks come from.
the traditional theatre masks come from ancient greece, where philosophers saw religious songs and rituals that told the stories of gods and thought āhuh so we keep telling people that murder is bad in these songs but people still kill their kids. what should we do about that.ā and this guy Thespis was like āhey letās pretend to be the gods and *show* them that murder is wrongā and invented catharsis. thatās where theatre came from inherently.
now, the thing about these plays was that they were performed for literally everyone. so they needed a really big stage (iām talking 15,000 seats big). so nobody could hear these people performing because the actors were so far away, and they werenāt learning any lessons and they were still killing their kids. to fix this problem, the greeks invented masks that not only showed the characters being played and their emotions, but they also were made specifically to amplify the sound of their chanting for everyone to hear. thatās where the masks come from.
the traditional comedy and tragedy symbols come from the formatting of the festivals. the festivals would consist of four plays: three of those plays would be three hour long tragedy plays made to show the consequences of disobeying the gods. at the end of those three plays, there would be a thirty minute play called a satyr play, or a comedy. the play would be lighthearted and it would make fun of the stupidity of humans. both types of plays went hand in hand and grew into what we now see as the symbol of theatre.
and not ONCE does mystery ever come up in this. NOT ONCE!!! i had to do a 15 minute project on this in my theatre class along with a 10 minute performance (where i made 14 masks and performed) of The Orestia. and mystery doesnāt even come up later in theatre history either!!! SO WHAT IS THIS??? WHY IS MYSTERY THERE??
anyways iām only mad at this because that project took up my life for a month and i know too much about greek theatre. tragedy ftw
the lengths that i will go, the distance in your eyes

hello #totaldrama fandom do you remember me
forgot to post this when i made it ahh but hereās a youtube trend with Avari
you guys remember the dunhar era. yeah. what a timeā¦
some album and song reviews piss me off in a very specific way. ā(song name) is a bright and cheerful break from the heavy and dark sound and themes of the rest of the album. it offers listeners a safe retreat from the rest of the grim songs in this album.ā and they rate that song a 10/10 and the rest like 2/10
like girl do you think the listeners of this band are scared or something. no dude we know what weāre getting into, we didnāt expect cute and calm music from this band that has built its brand on loud and dark music. sure, the bright song is nice and lots of people might love it! but if thatās the one rare happy song why are you comparing the whole album to that standard. no the album doesnāt suck because thereās only one lively song. the album sucks because you went into it expecting everything to be bright and lively. i get that youāre a critic but donāt compare an alternative band to your pop music standards
i think we need to start appreciating oc content more. i feel feel like i (and maybe other people do this to) often see a nice piece of artwork that i enjoy but because its someoneās ocs i think āi shouldnāt like and reblog this, i donāt even go hereā or āif i reblog this the OP will think that i know their ocs and iāll feel bad because i donāt actually know themā. and then when i post oc related artwork iām really proud of and it gets 20 notes i get sad and think āwhy does nobody care about my ocs?ā
i think we should like and reblog oc posts not because we know whatās going on but because we appreciate OP for creating something. especially in our current world, we should be happily pushing up artists and not feeling guilty for it.
or i might be the only one to experience this and iām an asshole if so ignore me
