Immortal Man & Homeowner

There are only two of us in the kitchen. Just two… human. Yet sharing a table becomes unbearable when paranoia paces beneath the skin.

I hate when someone stands behind my back. I hate loud noises, and I startle just as easily at half-open doors and the way they creak. I hate dim light as much as I hate bright light.

And yet I’m afraid of the dark— just as I am afraid of people.

I hate this.

I hate the person sitting across from me, smiling so calmly while shuffling cards. For him, catastrophe does not exist, and that infuriates me. A lunatic without a second thought, speaking of immortality as if it were a fact.

A madman.

And perhaps madness is contagious, because through the veil of noise I still heard his words when the barrel of my gun pressed into his smile. He kept smiling, murmuring softly, without fear. And I couldn’t believe my eyes— or the fact that I wanted to pull the trigger.

Let’s test your immortality.
