Remus sat on the grass, occasionally flicking a wordless flipendo at a garden gnome but mostly just watching the children run around. He was tired, feeling the relentless pull of the Moon and the effects of months upon months of losing out on proper sleep. Occasionally, one of the children would ask him to give some input on their game but for the most part they were happy enough to entertain themselves as if they could tell he was falling asleep sat up.
He stood only because he really was in danger of falling asleep otherwise but didn’t even notice Molly come out of the house, though usually his sensitive ears would pick up on the movement behind him. Instead, he jerked in surprise when she grabbed onto him, an arm reaching out to try and steady her as best as he could. “Jesus, Molly. Are you okay?”
having remus watch the kids outside was something molly couldn’t have needed more. he was one of the few she trusted to be able to manage to watch all of them. it was nice to get a few minutes to herself, to clean up a little. so when she walked out to see how they were doing, she felt like an actual human.
if it hadn’t been for remus, she would have fallen completely down. how she had never managed to break a bone from the amount of times she had tripped never ceased to amaze her, especially considering how many toys there were strewn across the house. “you’d think with how often i do that, i’d know to pick my feet up,” she said. “thank you, honey.”
