Clark held onto her sister tightly, letting the tears finally fall as she said goodbye to her sister. As the girl pulled away, she shrugged. “You don’t need to worry about me. I have Deni. She already told me she wanted to claim me so…” she trailed off. It wasn’t how she wanted to tell her sister, but she needed to make sure the girl knew she was okay.

Molly’s eyes widened at Clark’s revelation, and she clapped her hands together in front of her. “Oh my god, Clark!” she said, her voice rising half an octave in her excitement. “That’s so wonderful! I’m so happy for you!” She dropped her hands to her lap and gave her sister a more serious look. “That’s what you want, right? Don’t agree just because you think you have to.”

Clark swallowed hard and nodded. “I’m gonna miss you too. I will. I’ll keep you updated. We’ll be good, promise” she signed, biting her lip as she felt tears well up in her eyes. “I’m mad that you’re leaving suddenly but I understand why so I forgive you. You just…you guys take care of each other, okay? Promise me” she begged her sister.

Seeing the wetness in her sister’s eyes made Molly want to hug her, but she held herself back until after she’d finished signing. Needing a good line of sight to someone was one of the few downsides to her Deafness. She wrapped Clark up in her arms and held her closely, not letting go for a good thirty seconds. She tried to hide her own tears, but in the end, she settled for wiping her eyes when she pulled away from the hug. “I promise. You don’t need to worry about me or Santana. It’s you in this awful place that I worry about.”

Clark nodded as she bit her lip, gathering her thoughts before taking a sip of her water and placing the glass down on the table. No it totally makes sense. You guys don’t belong here. And you guys are going together which makes me feel better that you’re not going alone. I just….it sucks that’s all. she signed, finally looking up at her sister, and sighing. A few months ago, this wouldn’t have sucked so much but now? Now it hurt.

Clark looked at her sister as she signed the words. Leaving. It was the one that stuck out the most. She wasn’t super close with her sister but they had just gotten past their differences and were moving on with their lives as sisters again and now she was leaving. “Oh” Clark mouthed, looking down at her water glass, not really sure what else to say.

“I’m sorry,” Molly said, looking at Clark for a few seconds before she had to drop her gaze downward. Leaving her sister and some of her friends behind was her only regret about this. “We can still text and Facetime,” she said, “but Santana and I... we can’t take it here anymore. Leaving’s what’s best for both of us, and you know I’d do anything for her. I’m going to miss you, though.”

When Molly asked Clark to come over to talk, Clark knew something was up. While they had worked through most of their issues, this was different. It felt different. And the moment she walked into the room, she knew she was right. “Water would be fine” she signed to her sister, watching her move around her suite that felt emptier than before. Seeing the glass placed in front of her, she looked at her sister, eyes narrowing slightly. “What’s going on?” she asked as she signed along with it.

“Sure,” Molly replied. She got a glass of water for her sister and then grabbed a cold can of diet Coke for herself before joining Clark on the couch. She stared back at her sister for a few seconds when she saw the question, unsure of how to really say this. “Santana and I,” she started slowly, “we’ve decided to leave. We’re going to find another institute somewhere. Maybe California. Our flight’s on Saturday.”

“Hey, Clark,” Molly said as she let her sister into her suite. “Come on in, have a seat. Do you want something to drink?” Anything to postpone this conversation. She knew she was doing the right thing for herself and for Santana, but leaving her sister behind was going to be hard. They’d only recently gotten past their issues, and she wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet. @lightingclark

I’ve got notes! And I can definitely share ‘em, as long you don’t mind the scribbles on the sides. I think I drew a little hot dog monster somewhere on there so like, as long as you don’t make fun of me, I can totally share my notes. 

What do ya need to study for, anyway? Is there a test comin’ up I didn’t know about??? Do I need to panic? I’m panicking. 

Is it a cute hot dog monster or a scary one? Because I think that might determine whether I make fun of you for it.

I generally spend a lot of time studying so that I can pass when it comes time for exams. I don’t believe we have anything coming up anytime soon, though.

“Eli?” Molly repeated slowly, not sure she had gotten the vowels right. She was pretty sure there was an L in the middle at least, and she recognized the surname from some of the other students. “I’ve met your siblings, yes. And there’s no need to apologize! I was the one who wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.”

Eli looked up and then to the hand steadying him. He didn’t know this girl but he noticed her mark and bit his lip, “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry Miss, I didn’t look where I was going“ he stuttered out, “Are you OK? I’m fine. I’m sorry. I’m Eli Hummel Miss“ he said, introducing himself.

Molly narrowed her eyes a little bit as the boy spoke, trying to make out everything he was saying. “I’m just fine,” she said, giving him a smile. She squeezed his shoulder lightly before letting it go. “Could you say your name again for me, though, please, darling?”

I’m probably disproportionately excited for the view. But in fairness, this winter was an absolute mess. You definitely are, but I can’t fault you for that. I’m glad you started the cross country club, because there’s something to be said for a more challenging track and more attractive view than one might have on a school track. 

There’s no such thing as being too excited for a gorgeous view for our runs! I suppose it’s nice to switch things up a bit with the track team, but I do go a bit crazy running around the same loop over and over all the time. I’m so glad they allowed us to start the cross-country team.

Eli had been wondering what to do all morning, growing tired of sitting on his bed with his music so, he made his way out to the pool area, looking around to see if he could see any one he knew. He had his earbuds in and his iPod in his pocket as he walked not really paying much attention to where he was going. He was about to look up but, as he did, he felt himself bump someone on the shoulder and he gulped, “Oh my god, I’’m so sorry“ he breathed.

Molly couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was down here. She really never wanted to leave, not if Santana were with her. Thinking of how happy her girlfriend had looked the past few days put a smile on her face, and she was completely lost in thought when she felt herself bump into someone else. She reached out to grab the boy’s shoulder to steady both of them. “Are you okay?” she asked, turning to face him.
