this is totally inspired by @oathworn​ ‘s post, but ik i’ve spoken ab this on my sansa blog in the past, but when i think about her dynamic with jon i get so sad.

sansa probably (very early on) admired jon, mostly because of robb. catelyn probably got super mad/annoyed that her children were embracing jon as their own blood. i see catelyn poisoning the idea of jon to sansa very early on. “if you embrace him as a brother, you’re betraying your mother” type of thing. i see it being very toxic.. sansa’s behavior towards jon wasn’t natural, it was LEARNED behavior. 

i have a feeling cat made it very much like him vs me, as sansa was probably one of her easier to manipulate children with this sort of thing. one day sansa just shut jon out completely, once she realized what embracing jon as a brother would mean for her mother. it was like a switch. i think that’s why her guilt was even greater when she’s older - she realizes he really didn’t do anything to cat. it was a situation out of his control.  sansa (as much as i love her) was absolutely terrible to jon.
