So because I got into hiveswap, after burying homestuck proper for, like, 9ish years, and I have come up with the best headcannon.

Trolls nickname their moirails after the gemstone that closely matches their blood color.

For context, I was reading a couple fanfics where they referred to them as ‘their diamond’/‘diamond-dust’. But in my head that started to get old real quick.

The blood colors (including lime and crimson) already have set gems. I'll write those down eventually.

Sometimes, moirails might also nickname their other half after a gem that matches them. Not really the meaning behind the stone, but the way it looks/is usually cut. It'll still be the color of their blood, just about, but the secondary gem either sounds or looks better instead of the set one.

I know people want another Okami game, I do too, but I just realized something that the story could potentially include.

So Kaguya is based off of the story of Princess Kaguya. She’s the princess of the Moon and it’s people, and the game never says it but I feel like it’s the same there.

Based on what Waka says in game and reading some Traveler’s Guide scrolls, it’s safe to assume that a very large portion of the Moon Tribe was killed by demons. Therefore that means that the Lunar Realm is overrun by them (and some of which, we’ve probably never seen in the first game, so we won’t know how to fight them right away)

Basically, I want the next Okami game to start off with the Celestial Plain being the tutorial area, like Kamiki to Agata Forest. Then somewhere in the middle Waka finds out that what is assumed to be the last member of the royal family was sent back to the Moon. He clearly gets upset by this, as the princess didn’t have a way to defend herself on her way up there, and drags Amaterasu with him to see if they can help her. Bonus points if Issun is there for a visit and spills the beans that it was Ammy that helped Kaguya get her ship (this will make Waka more upset btw).

Kaguya is not only revealed to be fine, but (as per Capcom protag rules) she has an entire armory of plasma guns at her disposal. So now Ammy has a gun too.

The final boss is the guy who unleashed the bigger demons unto the universe. For drama purposes I want that guy to be Waka’s brother. For more drama purposes, Issun has to nearly die during the battle.

I also want more Oina stuff, but that’s just a me thing. Totally not important.

I can’t believe with how long I’ve liked the game Okami I haven’t made a post about it!

Anyways I was thinking real hard about it sometime last week, and an idea formed in my head.

So in the game you meet Lika, little kid from the Oina tribe, and she’s got a mask on her face. (Makes sense, as do the other tribe members.) But she’s the only one with a non-animal based mask- she’s got this leaf.

Now I don’t remember where I found it, but her leaf is supposed a butterbur(?) leaf. I think that’s what it said, I’m 40% sure that’s the specific plant. Funnily enough, the beings poncles are based off of are associated with the leaves as well. Understandable, considering her family’s history with at one of them. I can remember that part, at least.

That, however, wasn’t what I was thinking of! It was how some things in the game had a dual connection with others. Like Oki and Waka; which I have mixed feelings towards, but that’s another topic for another day. Regardless, I was real focused on that leaf! I even thought to myself when I got it: “This seems like I’m reaching, but it also makes too much sense.”

The tanuki! Kemu’s mask is supposed to be a raccoon! I didn’t know if they had whole raccoons in Japan, but they have raccoon dogs! That’s what a tanuki is! In folklore they have leaves on their head, which is where some of their powers come from!

The tie-in was that both Kemu and Lika can do the Volcanic Incantation. Lika is also apparently more powerful of the two (at least at the point you meet them). She also wasn’t trained to wield said power, she just kinda existed with it? At least as far as I know, I don’t think they ever mentioned her being trained to begin with. They just said that she was able to do it.

I don’t think that’s what they were going for when making them, but it’s a pretty cool thought!
