The door shudders as Sakae hefts Haruka against it, falls open beneath their weight as Haruka's frantically scrabbling hands find the handle. The apartment is dark as they tumble inside and Sakae pauses on feeling up Haruka through his sweat soaked shirt only long enough to fumble for the light switch, both of them wincing at the sudden brightness after the warm, comfortable darkness of Makochi's night.
Haruka's weight shifts in his arms and Sakae nearly comes unbalanced as he feels one powerful leg unwind from where it had clamped around his waist, braces himself against the force of a swift kick that slams the door shut behind them. Oh, right. They should probably lock that.
"What the hell's up with you?"
The breathlessness of Haruka's voice sends heat shooting directly to Sakae's groin and instead of answering he buries his face in Haruka's damp neck, nosing against his steady pulse.
"I just wanted to." he says finally, lifting his head when he feels Haruka start to squirm in his hold. He responds by tightening his grip.
Of course that only makes Haruka struggle more, body bowing away from him, hands on Sakae's shoulders as he shoves, "Lemme go, I need a shower."
Alright, alright, fine. Sakae reluctantly loosens his grip and lets Haruka slide unceremoniously out of his hold, if only because his comment reminded Sakae of just how grimy he felt himself.
It was nearly summer break and already sweltering. The oppressive heat enveloped all of Makochi in a bubble of humidity that left anyone who so much as stepped outside feeling as though they were wading through a pot of soup. Throw Furin's training regimen into the mix and it was the perfect recipe for a bunch of flushed, sweaty, worked up teenage boys.
Not that Sakae minded in the least, especially not in Haruka's case. Not when Haruka's shirt was vacuum sealed to his shoulders and sharp waist, near translucent where it clung to his slender back. When glistening sweat turned his white hair pearlescent, gleaming at it trailed down to drip off the line of his jaw. And Sakae could always feel when Haruka's attention zeroed in on him in turn, felt the weight of his brilliant eyes follow every movement, the flex of every muscle.
It was all well and good in the moment of course, but now…
Sakae becomes keenly aware of the layer of filth on his skin and the chafe of damp clothes worn for too long, his hair tacky where it clings to his neck and skull. He'll need to trim it sooner than later.
"I'll join you." he says as the tugs at the collar of his shirt.
Haruka's voice echoes out of the bathroom and Sakae looks up to see him leaning out the door, shirt already off and pants halfway there. Oh…
Haruka doesn't technically live with him —still retreating to his little apartment every now and then to make sure the old place didn't fill up with dust and when he needed space—but he does spend more nights than most sleeping over, having dinner, or just spending time, and Sakae wonders how much longer he should put off asking Haruka to just make it a permanent thing. Or maybe the better option would simply be to go to his place, pack up all his stuff, and cart it and Haruka over in one go before he could protest. It soothes something deep in Sakae's core to see how comfortable Haruka has made himself in his home, but also….
Haruka is flushed pink all the way down to his chest from the day's heat and exertion, or maybe from Sakae's very obvious staring, it was difficult to tell.
"I'll join you," Sakae repeats once he remembers how to speak, his throat working as Haruka's eyes follow the movement of his fingers while he unbuttons his shirt, "It's my shower."
Pink turns to red, Haruka's shoulders hiking up to his ears, "Whu—" his voice is sharp, startled by Sakae's brazenness. Then softer, curious, shoulders drooping, "Are we both gonna fit?"
It'll be a tight squeeze which is likely why they've never tried it before now, but Sakae's not about to say that out loud. Not when he's got the perfect set up right in front of him.
"I think we'll be fine." The smirk appears all on its own, "You don't take up much room."
The sound that leaves Haruka's mouth is one perhaps known only to feral cats and Sakae throws back his head as the laugh rumbles up from deep in his belly.
