Well…thanks. I know it’s dumb, but sometimes it’s nice to hear. Nobody is perfect, but sometimes I still feel like I’m dragging everyone around me down with me. He keeps…it’s like he’s an adrenaline junkie or something. I keep finding him doing things that could kill him, and I’ve had to feed him a few times. I don’t really know what to do about it. Whatever happens to them, hopefully they don’t regret it. Living like that is always worse than the alternative. Trust me, your approval means everything. He is pretty great, isn’t he? Sometimes, I think it’s too good to be true.

It’s not, it’s completely human. Sometimes we need to be reminded of our humanity. No one is in your life that doesn’t want to be there and if that was true in any capacity we all still love you. That...is worrisome. He could end up getting himself killed. That’s why...falling in love with someone that’s a part of this world when you’re human can be dangerous. But, her family didn’t really keep her out of this world so I’m not surprised it happened. I’m almost surprised he’s Damon’s son but I like to think he got the very best parts of him. He has a good heart, and so do you. I’m happy for you. For the both of you, really.

I’d like to think that I take after him. Even if I’m probably more flawed than stable these days. He…in so many words. I think it’s only getting worse. They’re young, it…is easy to get wrapped up and emotional. But the few times I’ve met Jordan he’s seemed smart, hopefully it works out. They deserve better than I got first time I loved someone. Though, I should…really work on forgetting about that, at some point, in the grand scheme of things.

You are so much of the good parts of him. That’s just a part of growing, and getting older. No one’s perfect, Hope. What’s been up with him? He’s smart and she’s strong. I have no doubt she’d survive it, maybe even thrive in it but sometimes you have to ask yourself what kind of life you want when you get the choice. First loves don’t always end beautifully but it can all make you stronger. Just learn from your mistakes. I can tell you I think Jesse was a good choice, he’s cute. And, he’s a good man. I approve. Not that it’s really my approval you’re probably looking for.

Dad might be smart, but he’s impulsive. I get it from him, but it’s worse in Ryan. But that…that’s another conversation. I think…I might know the boy half of that equation, actually. She should trust her gut, not logic or anything else. Dwelling can screw things up, too. At least, that’s…what I tell myself when things get too scary. The situations are different, though, so what do I know.

He is. But he’s also driven, loyal, and talented. Everyone has their flaws. Has he been displaying that trait a lot? It’s quite complicated from what I can tell but I know she’ll make the right choice. She seems kind of lost but I could have related to that when I was younger. People inherently always make the choice they really want in the end, regardless.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m smart so much as I’m pretty screwed up. But, since I’m pretty sure that wasn’t aimed at me, what’s up?

Trust me, your father is the smartest man I know and your mother doesn’t fall too short behind him. I...know a young girl who...is very conflicted. She’s in love with a boy who’s a vampire. Turning has crossed her mind multiple times and I can’t tell her what to do because I don’t even know what I’d do in the situation. Advice is the best I can give. Even giving advice is difficult. Following your heart can be hard and reckless but rewarding, following your head is the smart, practical thing but it can leave you with regrets.

Sorry, I know that’s a random thing to just…be asked. My mom doesn’t really seem to be a fan of it here and I can’t decide how to feel about it.

It’s okay, there are quite a few who are pretty new to Mystic Falls, too. I came here about seventeen years ago, I think and I met my daughter Kara and then the curse separated us. I’m still not used to it, either.

I’d prioritize getting to know you, of course. There are other powerful witches here working on the same things I have been so I can afford to take breaks.

Sounds like the beginning of an interesting story, though. I don’t particularly believe in horoscopes but I believe in the universe.

Well, it...comes from within. Some things take spells, incantations which I can teach you if you’d like me to. I have old grimoires and then there are things I have committed to memory. I don’t know everything but I know a lot. When it comes to defending yourself sometimes it’s not easy to control at first. Fear can bring on powers you didn’t even know you had but it is controllable once you learn how to harness the power inside of you.
