Why I Run the 408k
The San Jose 408k was my third race and my longest one at that time. I had run two local 5ks before this and felt that the 4.97 miles was a big jump! But boy did I enjoy it. I have run many, many miles since then and to date have completed two half marathons the last one being the Tinker Bell Run at Disneyland.
I would like to think that the 408k was my "gateway drug' to the world of running. I may have looked like a mess when I crossed the finish line last year, but I felt triumphant! The serene streets of San Jose, the crazy, bendy luchador and of course the Mariachi Mile were very encouraging. And the course support? Yup, it was amazing! I loved how the locals cheered the runners on.
Running has been such a great addition to my life and has brought me more that I had asked for. I am now more self-confident, healthier and happier. I have also met a great group of friends who continue to inspire me and encourage me to keep on running and staying healthy.
It was through one of the 408k bloggers that I found out about an amazing group of running moms. The San Jose chapter of Moms Run this Town is group of mamas whose goal is to stay healthy, encourage each other and in the course of the group runs form amazing friendships.
Need more reasons to run the 408k? Bragging rights! There aren't many people who can say that they have run through downtown San Jose to Santana Row. Oh yeah, the finish line is at Santana Row!
