A mom’s night out to see MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. It’s time well spent together, according to Meredith at 4hisgloryblog.com:
I literally belly-ached laughed, with a few snorts on the side, from the first ten seconds until the end. Minus the two minutes I cried the ugly cry as Trace Adkins biker-tattooed-up character sat on a bench in a jail and explained how Jesus has all of us mamas wrapped in His arms and that’s all that really matters, not all the chaos we get so wrapped up in.
This mom’s night out reminded me that sometimes when we take time to just be and be with others sharing the same struggles or that have been there and done that, we learn things about ourselves we didn’t know.
I learned from a new friend that my favorite snack is an entire box of reeses pieces mixed in the same bowl with greasy movie popcorn (I am still here. I did not have a heart attack.) Try it. You can thank me later.
I also learned that time with other women may be bad for my hips, but oh-so-good for my soul.
Time spent laughing and crying together is time. well. spent.
A week short on words ended in a week long on laughs and thirteen new friends. Yep, I went to this gig only knowing a few and I’m glad I didn’t let that stop me.
We are all in this together. Life. Motherhood. Wifehood. Sisterhood.
It’s not about her and them. It’s about us. Together. The sooner we embrace that, the better off we will be. And maybe we will find someone to walk off the reeses pieces with…

Moms from coast to coast are identifying with MOMS’ NIGHT OUT and being inspired in the midst of all the chaos of life. Denise at deniseisrundmt.com says:
I understand how women dream about being moms then feel let down or unfilled by days full of poop-filled diapers, or even losing a child or never being able to conceive at all.
It’s o.k. to be sad. It’s perfectly fine to feel less than perfect, because each of us knows that motherhood is far from perfection. When did life ever promise a perfect ending?
As moms, we try our best every day to provide just the simple basics for our family. Sometimes we scream and “have a moment”. Other days, we lose it often and other days we get it right. We’ll barely survive one day just to do it all again tomorrow. We secretly pray for a better tomorrow to be a viewed as a hero instead of a villain by our children.
Motherhood can be elation and depression all at once.
As any mother veteran will tell you, for a small window of time each day, it is absolutely essential to do something for yourself before you lose yourself in the chaos of motherhood. Find what makes you happy and hold onto it and enjoy every fleeting moment…
The important message to take away from the movie is to remember you are not alone. Despite loving our husbands and our children unconditionally, we occasionally have this sad, twisted empty emotion inside us. Every mom everywhere has felt that emotion one point and no matter how laced-up, buttoned-up and beautiful someone’s life may appear on the outside, they’ve felt it on the inside too.
To all the moms, when that emptiness hits, just remember you are never alone. When your husband travels and you’re trapped under a pile of dirty laundry, dirty dishes and dirty diapers, you are never alone. You may need to call a rescue party to find you, but a true friend will definitely deliver the life line you need. Let them lift your spirits and lift you out of the funk you feel.
If you feel depressed, call someone. Plan a dinner date or a coffee chat to reconnect to another adult. Join a book club, wine club or a women’s bible study. Take a moment for you and be o.k. with it. Remove the guilt. Your family needs you to be happy just as much as they need to be happy…

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT and The Mom Factor love these words from Mrs. Gore, at mrsgoresdiary.com:
And what I was completely unaware of when I took my seat in the theatre, flanked by my friends, a small cup of Dr. Pepper to my right, a pile of buttery popcorn in my lap, is that I was about to be taken on a two hour journey cataloguing MY LIFE.
You guys, it was like watching my every day activities, my secret frustrations, my rarely-expressed fears and the chaos and hilarity of raising my little children play out on a giant screen in front of my face.
The main character was even a homeschooling mommy blogger! You can’t get much more relatable than that.
And sure, the story took twists and turns that my life probably (and hopefully) never will, but throughout the entire story was a thread of spot-on humor, a glorification of motherhood, and a wellspring of encouragement for the tired mommy heart.
I don’t want to give too much away, but by the time the movie was over, my life seemed so normal. So sweet. And most importantly…
so important.
And silly things that at one time tempted me to lose my cool were all of a sudden typical and funny, even…
I came home renewed, refreshed, and eager to embrace this season of my life with a healthy and biblical and light-hearted perspective.
And as I sit here on my stairs with my laptop, a naked toddler next to me begging for nail polish, a baby asleep in the next room, and two always-hungry kids in the kitchen, I’m seeing it all with fresh eyes.
This mess is beautiful, and there is nowhere else I’d rather be.

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is a great reminder of the importance of our perspective in life. Kelly at generationcedar.com writes:
I went to see MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. Twice, actually, and I positively loved it. It was super funny and tears streaked my face several times, some from laughter, and some from the stomach-pit place that felt just what Ally was feeling…
Ally says, at the end of the movie, “For me to be happy, something has to change.” And she smartly responds that she is that something.
And there it is. That thing I tell myself, and you here, and that thing we so need to be reminded of day after day, regardless of where we are in life, or what our circumstances–
that our happiness doesn’t depend on a life being always in order and things in a row, and our nails manicured and quiet vacations at the beach and pretty clothes with no wrinkles or stains, and uninterrupted bathroom breaks.
Happiness (which I’m not sure really exists and would be better defined as “joy”) is something that comes from within…

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is good, clean, hysterical fun…and that’s a FACT! Carey, of womenofbslc.wordpress.com, writes:
I’m the type of person who watches a movie and depending on how much I love the movie, I will go several times to see it! Currently, there is a movie in theaters called MOMS’ NIGHT OUT which I have seen twice now! When I first saw it with my 15-year old daughter, I thought it was hysterical. There is no swearing, no nudity AND it’s even rated PG!! This week, I encouraged a few friends to join me Sunday night for laughter and fun.
My friends didn’t know what to expect when they saw the movie. They knew it was going to be funny, because I had given that part away, but none of us expected to laugh THAT much!
…There are so many more instances of FACT in the movie, but I can tell you one thing that should be fiction but isn’t always understood to be not true. Every day, moms feel like we can’t do anything well; we mess up, our kids throw things in toilets, they fall and break their arm, and it seems we can’t pick up our homes quickly enough before the kids tear it up again. Sometimes we even hide in a closet with chocolate to get away from it all!! We tell ourselves that we aren’t good enough. We feed ourselves with lies. This is FICTION.
Proverbs 31:26 says, “She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” God has breathed this FACT into His word.
The next time your child does something outrageous, don’t blame yourself. I’ve done this for so many years, but recently I’ve decided that children can make choices and learn from those choices. You are their instructor, and you have the privilege to walk alongside them. Don’t beat yourself up!
Take time out of your busy week to go see this movie! Laugh a lot, come home, take an extended bath and read a good book, the Bible. That is where you will find the meaning of your existence, in all of this chaos called life…

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. It’s YOUR movie. And it’s “MY movie,” says Christie at SavingSaidSimply.com:
So you know how folks find the one movie that describes their life? The one that they can refer to for all of their life’s moments, laugh, cry, watch a million times over and never be sick of it?
I found MY movie.
It’s called MOMS’ NIGHT OUT and it’s in theaters right NOW.
In essence, this movie captures all of my mommy melt down moments in a hilarious visual gag reel throughout [the] entire movie journey. A mom, a wanna-be blogger, wife at the end of her mommy rope. ME. ME. ME!
…I kept pointing out moments saying… “Yes, that’s me. I’m not alone.”
Crying in a closet while eating chocolate because your kids were driving you crazy. That’s me. Wanting to pull your hair out because kids are smearing raw egg all over the kitchen while you say a “salmonella” mantra in your head. That’s me.
And those moments you become “Stress Paralyzed.”
…The all-star cast with Sean Astin, Sarah Drew, and Patricia Heaton were perfectly chosen for their roles. I couldn’t have asked for better. There’s a scene with Trace Adkins NOT to be missed…
But most importantly, you do NOT stop laughing. Seriously.
…This. This is MY movie. MOMS’ NIGHT OUT. …A great reminder that I am worth it. I am an imperfect mom that is perfectly loved. Hilarious, insightful, refreshing, uplifting, and emotional, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is a great reason to get out there with your friends and watch a movie…

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT hosted several special contest winners at our red-carpet premier. Becky, one of our winners, says she felt “like a million bucks,” but it was because of the heart, not the hype:
… it was an unexpected scene toward the end of the movie that really got me. I won't give away the full context, but let's just say Ally was feeling like all her efforts to take care of herself, her kids, and her friends had failed. Miserably. Once again, she just felt like not enough. A wise man says to her,
"It’s a beautiful thing watching one of God’s creation just doing what He made it to do… And that’s enough." Without knowing the profound mark he was making, he continues, "I doubt the good Lord made a mistake giving your kiddos the mama he did. So just be you... He’ll take care of the rest."
My popcorn box was empty but my mama heart was right full.
Back at our hotel room I took off all the glitz and set it on the shiny desk. I saw myself in the reflective surface. Saw that it wasn't all the sparkle that made this night so special. It was being reminded that I'm a good mom, that my mothering is important, and that our loving, all powerful God (the One who gave my kiddos to me and me to my kiddos) will equip me to mother them well. And even when I don't, He's there to catch me… So PLEASE, go treat yourself, your mom, your sister, or your best friend to 1 hour and 39 minutes of feeling like a million bucks…

In the MOMS' NIGHT OUT jail scene, Bones (played by Trace Adkins) tells Allyson, “It’s a beautiful thing to watch one of God’s creations just doing what He made it to do…and that’s enough. …so you just be you. He’ll take care of the rest.” Tanya, a contributor at Catholicmom.com, heartily agrees:
The beautiful mess of parenting is portrayed so wonderfully in MOMS’ NIGHT OUT (released in theaters on May 9, 2014). The film stars Sarah Drew as Allyson, who is a stressed-out mom in need of a night alone with friends (without the kids). They leave the children in the care of their husbands for a few hours only to have a crazy string of events take place with God at the heart of the message. Children are His gifts to us, and sometimes we need to slow down to appreciate His gifts. We get caught up in the drama of the everyday mishaps, instead of just loving our children as they are.
The story has a bunch of laughs and pokes fun at the amount of stress in one day as a mom. I see myself in the times she freaks out and how she just needs a break from the “Mom” title. As a mom, it can be hard to let other people help out and let go of some of the control. It may be easier to do everything on your own and push yourself to be some ideal that you can never be. God meets us where we are, and He doesn’t expect us to be someone we weren’t made to be. There is a peace that comes with being as God made us.
…The movie is great for a family night or even wonderful as a date night for parents. It will help you to laugh at yourself through familiar moments on the screen and remind you of the blessings already in the home: your children.
