when i see the police in my community (often) i will slow down and observe every single time, without fail. i will wait. and watch. and i will act if it comes to it. it's teenagers on bikes caught out alone at 1 am on a quiet road i happen to be traversing. and good people at protests. and boys i see being stopped and searched in the park. and i don't care if the person has done anything thats actually 'wrong'. most of the time they have not. i care that they are safe. i do not believe the police care about their actions, so i care. and i want you to care too. i want you to know your rights, and tell anyone who may need that one day. i want you to watch the cops. and let them know theyre being watched. i want you to intervene when you see instances of police aggression or abuse, so long as it doesn't escalate things. the police do not stand for you or me so we must stand for each other.
