i have never felt as mature as when i finally understood (through therapy) and internalized (through emotional work) that you cannot connect and communicate with some people no matter how kind, compassionate, understanding, articulate, eloquent, or smart you are, and that sometimes a person not listening to you does not reflect on your communication skills or ability to connect or straight up intelligence. in a way, it’s letting go of the belief that you have the power to make people understand you. communication is a two-way street, and needs two willing participants. some people are just walls, and it has been unbelievably helpful for my mental and emotional health to let it slide and know that it does not affect me or my self worth.
Isn’t it odd to have a body? To be alive and dying, all the time. There are things we can only become by dying, both the act and the process that takes a whole life to happen. I am interested in those things, though I know I can’t know them.

I saw an article called “Make Peace With Your Unlived Life” and it really made me stop and think. So much of our lives is mourning for what we didn’t become. It’s a waste. We didn’t waste any opportunities. What came and went was not meant for us.
idk what it is about pride and prejudice that’s so appealing. maybe it’s the fantasy of telling a man he’s self centred and arrogant and he believes it and changes for the better

Hot take: people waiting for celebrities to "speak out" about things like racism are just fans wanting to be reassured that they can keep supporting their fave. No sane, well-informed person with their own moral compass would await confirmation that racism is bad from celebrity #397.
Extra-hot take: if you expect these people to use their platform to educate, why? Why do you think they know better than people who dedicate their lives to these causes and can do a better job of imparting meaningful information? Go look to your community leaders and your teachers for information, maybe?
Super spicy take: if you think these celebs are actually able to influence people to evaluate their biases and moral code and perception of issues, then ask yourself why you would want a person largely isolated from major social and economic issues to even have that kind of influence.
