Oh Aphrodite trial you will stay with me forever,,,so aside from playing checkers with Hermes our first trial was with miss Aphrodite, where our characters were shown their perfect world and had to make the choice to leave it in order to complete the trials,,,Maeyr’s perfect world was her parents loving and accommodating for her, her brother was alive, Nephil was a boy who worked at the local market and her family knew they were in love and were perfectly ok with it and just,,, a a a a my heart 😭😭I fully cried that session.

Also let it be known that her friends call her Mae Mae but her parents never have, except in this perfect world,,this audio hit me like a truck

I can’t believe I was betrayed like this, I had spent so long simping very publicly ooc for Hermes, the first trial we did was the Aphrodite trial which was a whole other pot of angst, but the confusion and betrayal when I suggest Hermes for something lighter and I’m just sat there like 👁️👄👁️I do not understand, no do not try to explain to me I do not get it

Love love figuring out Maeyr expressions, a very fun detail is that I will only ever draw her with eye highlights if she’s interacting with Nephil, it’s just that loving sparkle you get it-

Artfight attack I did for @mmonarchmoon !! I wanted to draw our two sweets obsessed characters yapping about their partners so I went insane doing all the food and tying to make it look appetising and it was so fun but took me like 10 hours 😭😭but definitely worth it it turned out so cute

One of Maeyr’s character traits is that whenever they go to a new place she’s so ready to learn about all the different types of sweets and desserts and try them all, there is very little food she doesn’t like but she does like things to be extra sweet. Her worst enemy is protein pancakes, they are a crime against food.

Ooo this animatic is from a bit ago but it’s one of my favourite things I’ve made for Maeyr, I really wanted to explore her extremely complicated feelings towards her brother. She grew up only knowing that Elwin had died before she was born, killed by the same group goblins that her parents made the alliance with, and despite literally not even being born her parents have always had this kinda unspoken blame on her. She was never allowed to refer to him as her brother, not until she literally met him in hell (where for a solid while he was lying about his identity) and when he did reveal he was so quick to be like, “Maeyr you gotta understand that our parents are horrible horrible people that have been literally abusing you for years, hi I’m your brother and I love you and you deserve a loving family”

So like very much within canon they are the sweetest siblings and super protective of each other, this animatic was very much like,,an exploration of Maeyr’s very stressful feelings that she won’t allow herself to feel

Crash out is inevitable at some point but for now she has friends and people that care about her, but is she talking about her feelings and not keeping secrets? Debatable

old Maeyr art from like, early campaign where we got to design masks to keep our characters identities hidden, I got very inspired by phant0masy’s mask designs on insta and I thought it’d be fun to have the juxtaposition of super cute character with spooky mask. She does have a tendency to stare at people without blinking. Or breathing.

Anyways, it’s a comfy mask, we ignore that her silhouette is clearly the most distinctive about her and is clearly hiding nothing, but it’s fine, she’s cute, we love her. I redesigned her with the low down hair buns not long into the campaign and in universe it was due to her hiding the fact that her hair had grown, but she let the illusion down for Nephriah’s sister, and thus got the iconic buns. She can do it herself now, but she will also let Neph do it for her, which is a sign of their friendship really evolving. Nephil grew up with mostly seeing her hair down or up in the high pigtails, but he loves the buns a lot. His favourite is probably her hair down.

Wanted to try out a new rendering style with her that I’ve been experimenting with,,

Aika is an incredibly light sleeper, even the slightest noise will have her bolting awake, so in this hypothetical scenario she’s definitely be awake if the door opened, if not beforehand from said person walking to the door. She can run on very little sleep, but it’d probably be a good idea for her to actually have a good nights sleep at some point. I feel like once she’s closer with everyone she’d be able to relax around them a lot better.

I am full of cold and want to ramble about happy things so I will talk about how Maeyr and Nephil first met in more detail

So bi yearly the Bannea family hold a ball full of influential people, one of which happens to fall on Maeyr’s birthday, but Maeyr has never been allowed to attend. She usually stays up in her room, a servant will make sure she gets something nice to eat, but she’s never been too upset over not being able to go. It’s just another thing in her life, she accepts it. This does change however when she’s 4 years old, and instead of a servant coming into her room in walks a young looking fish boy, one she doesn’t recognise. After accidentally jumpscaring him by appearing right in front of him as lightning flashes, she learns that this is a staff member here to transport expensive and important items during the party to ensure that they can be transported as discreetly as possible, while everyone is distracted. She believes him upfront because of course she does. He doesn’t give his name, and because she’s gullible and happy to help, even if she’s recently been told servants can’t be friends, she offers to help him take the most discreet path to where things are. He scoops her up, she’s a lil surprised because most people don’t just do that but he does it with so much confidence that she barely has a moment to question. He does explain it’s just easier that way, cuz she’s little. She is, he’s not wrong. (Ah, the beginning of the Nephil privileges..) She helps him through the house, literally helps him carry stuff out, she’s a sweetie.

From Nephil’s perspective, he had been sent out on a mission from the gilded shadows leader, both to assumedly see what his swimming limit is, but also to try and get a bigger haul. He is very much there to steal, was not aware of the goblin child that he’d run into when he decided to slip into what he thought was a side room. He did however, likely fall in love so quickly. Very puppy love, he can’t help but scoop her up, he’s absolutely still stealing but also he’s a tad focused on the girl in front of him yknow.

Of course he doesn’t only show up the one time, he’s visiting twice a year, both to steal and to see his favourite girl. I think deep down Maeyr probably knows he’s lying,,, I feel like he’s going through all of his memories of her right now, reminiscing on the past and trying to think about the future, even if it’s uncertain.

oooo this took me 14+ hours

Geno is one of the people we met in hell and Maeyr did noooot gel with him lemme tell you, so her being remarkably chill with him while hypnotised is probably bringing him a lot of joy. Unfortunately for Maeyr, I, personally, l o v e him his whole vibe is incredible he does things because they’re funny to him and he has a scythe and he’s cool as fuck. I need him in my life. Unfortunately Maeyr in any situation where he hypothetically would flirt with her post hypnosis would very likely end up like this. So in this comic I really liked the idea of him trying to give her head pats purely to piss Nephil off except she is not that close to him yet and therefore does n o t like it. She’s not even biting him to show off to Nephil or anything that’s just straight instincts baby, she’s got chompers and she’s gonna use them. I think he’d find her reaction somehow even funnier than however Nephil could react. She’s a well of entertainment to him I’m sure.

Something I really like about this piece is that it could be placed before they start dating or after, they just are that clingy with each other, but in my heart of hearts this is after they get together and he’s just so elated and clingy

I love love drawing her with her hair down I think it shows how like, relaxed she is around him, she doesn’t to have to look perfect all the time,, but even in the reverse, for him, he has no shyness about being close to her and expressing his love, but also I can see him being super protective over her, maybe even to a fault. And like, he’s been lying to her for years, and maybe deep down she knows this, but it’s still a big conversation to have,, she’s been to hell, she found her dead brother, got closer to her friends, she’s changed and grown a lot and a a a I’m so excited for the interesting moral stuff that will arise but also the soft fluffy stuff of their relationship, there’s still so much more growth for Maeyr to go through and I feel like Nephil has gone through some of his own development while she’s been gone and I’m fascinated to see what that’ll do for his character and just!! I love them!! So much!!

DND very much holds a special place in my heart and has been a big comfort over the last year of my life, some escapism is very pleasant in these trying times yknow

I’ve been playing Maeyr since July last year, and Aika only for a few weeks, and I also run a campaign of my own for the same friend and partner I play with, so usually I just gush about ocs with them, but it kinda feels like a few more people get to hear about them here,,I really hope they’re liked as much as I like them

Aika’s magical girl design WIP! The shape on either isn’t quiiiite right but I feel like I’m getting there. Plus I love love how the ball jointed doll effect turned out. I think the skirt tiers are throwing me off a bit, and I do like the amount of detail with the corset type vibe but I feel like it doesn’t carry across to the rest of the design,,? Her hair definitely turned out super well.

We’ve got our next session this Sunday and it’s the first time they’ll be doing vigilante stuff!! Super excited 👁️👁️

First time I drew Maeyr not in twin tails! I thought the idea of a braid with this outift was so sweet and makes her look a lil more mature. At this point in the campaign half the party is hypnotised, Maeyr and Nephriah included, and they think they’ve been living in this country since they were young,,, Neph’s a demi god (dw about it). Anyways, he has a skill in doing hair due to having a little sister, and is one of the few people that can do Maeyr’s hair, even hypnotised, I’m sure. But he did a cute braid for her, she would’ve sat very politely and she looks darling.

Despite being hypnotised, she still remembers Nephil, specifically as a Lord that would visit twice a year, which like I love that despite a very strong hypnosis their bond overrides and she still remembers him and just aaaa that makes me super emotional. While hypnotised she’s a little more open and physically affectionate with her friends and I think she’ll get a lil flustered when she gets her memory back.

The rebel riot group!! 💙💚🩷

This is the most recent piece of art I have of them, so I thought I’d do a little intro to each character in this one!

💙Starting from the left, Cassidy! - he can move through shadows, he’s the half brother of the person who kidnapped and experimented on the group, and also part of the family that is currently taking care of the group in the home base we are staying at, he’s obsessed with monster, he’s a lil emo and avoids his family for a living (he’s failing). He’s a lil awkward but g r e a t at fighting, very intimidating when he wants to be. His vigilante name is Void!💙

💚In the middle, Aiden - he is essentially Spider-Man, lives off coffee and is a excellent barista, he’s a bit of a conspiracy theorist and loves quoting memes. He’s trans masc, he’s just a guy, he made the group do a miraculous ladybug marathon so he could point at cat noir and go “I want the same weapon as him”. His vigilante name is Toxic 💚

🩷Finally, Aika - my idol girly, she’s a magical girl with her magical companion Usagi, who gave her her powers. She’s trying hard to keep up her idol practice, misses the kind of food she could get back in Japan but is a big appreciator of Aiden’s coffee in the morning. She has little to no self preservation and a lot of audacity, but she is incredibly scary when she wants to be. I’m sure that means nothing about her character 🙂‍↕️. Her vigilante name is Blooming Love, or Bloom! 🩷

For reference, Aika is played by me, Aiden by my partner, and Cassidy is a NPC played by my dear friend running the game!

Finally I am getting into the illustrations,, the full coloured pieces,,

So Nephil is a ✨gorgeous man✨ but ohoho the amount of things going on in this piece. First off, Nephil himself! For some context, in the campaign he found Maeyr again with the party in a literal black market area, why is he there? Uhhh he does some work for the guilded shadows on the side, nothing to worry about. But while she’s staying in a place in the same city, they get to hang out a bit more than usual, they go out for a cake date on Maeyr’s birthday (and during this time she’s in a training arc, forced to be on a specific food diet that means no cakes, and she hates it, Nephil teaches her about the HR department,,,besides the point). The party ended up being kidnapped by wraiths and taken down to hell, which, for them, was a few days at most. For everyone else, it was a y e a r. Due to these magical seed things they got, the people in the place they were staying (which is called the silver flame order, by the way) knew that they weren’t necessarily dead, just no longer in this mortal plane. So Nephil dedicated himself to officially joining and rising through the ranks of the silver flame order, becoming a literal lord, all to try and find Maeyr (and the rest of the party). So his hairs got a lot longer, tied up in a ponytail now, he’s got one of Maeyr’s hair ties around his wrist,,, in the background we can see a certain plushie, and that in fact, is Maeyr’s plushie! Left behind in her room, hidden under the covers, where she expected to be able to come back to later on. Since she couldn’t, he keeps hold of it, taking care of it until she gets back. His room smells almost salty, like the sea, seashells and trinkets dotted around. When Maeyr eventually returns, he isn’t there, out on a mission, so she leaves him a note telling him she needs to talk to him, and also that she’s taking her plushie with her. She hopes he doesn’t mind.

It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to draw Nephil, and I’m still figuring him out, same as Maeyr, but I really love this piece.

Vigilante outfit for Aika! Big stomper boots,,, lil bit of tenshi kawaii influence too

So the other two people in the rebel riot team, Cassidy and Aiden, don’t happen to have a magical girl transformation ability, so they have to have cool outfits to hide their identity, but it’s also not super smart to have Aika just walking around is (and for a variety of reasons they need to keep their identities hidden anyways) so Aika also gets a neat lil outfit. She’s pretty much refused all extra gear because she’s a stubborn girly, she wants to do everything herself, but there’s definitely some stuff built into that suit by her worried friends. I mean, her AC in normal human form is 10. T e n. Her intimidation may be +7 but god her self preservation is infinitely low. In her defense, Cassidy literally offered to carry her across rooftops and that is an incredibly pretty man. I promise that’s not the only reason she’s saying no to gear. It’s just a big part of it—

Some of Maeyr’s consistent outfits! One of the members of the party is a fashion designer and seamstress, so a transition happened where basically none of the party is allowed to buy clothes anymore, she makes all of them now.

I’m fully aware the winter one is significantly more practical than the summer one, whenever I draw the summer one I always yeet the like,,I don’t know what they’re called but the long flowy bits that sit on top. Why did I add those. Anyways Nephil has not yet seen her in that summer outfit and when he does he will inevitably go feral over how high the slit of her skirt is.

There was a long point before these outfits where Maeyr was using illusions to hide all her scars, so it’s really sweet that she’s comfortable wearing such a revealing dress, lot of character growth and love for her friends, they all slay in their lil outfits and hype each other up 🙂‍↕️
