“I’m just saying that yes, prom is a social construct and popularity contest, but it’s one that I’m looking forward to. What I’m not looking forward to - however - are all the questions about where my date is,” Gray rambled before he came to a stop at his locker. “Where’s your date, Gray? Why don’t you have a date? You’re seriously okay with going stag?” he imitated a few of his classmates before he rolled his eyes as he opened the door and retrieved the notebooks he needed for his next classes. “I don’t have a date, have you met me and my track record with romance, and yes, I’m seriously okay with going stag,” he continued then took a deep breath while his usual warm smile graced his features and he leaned against his locker.

“How about you, Mr. Prom Prince nominee?” he questioned as an eyebrow quirked up. “My camera is ready and waiting to go for your promposal. Just say the word or text me and I’ll be there in a heartbeat. Then on the big night I promise that I won’t be an epic third wheel. You two can have your fun in peace and quiet.” A beat of silence before Gray added, “And I’ll be the second loudest person cheering for you if that prince crown ends up on your handsome head of yours. Only seems fitting that the first loudest person would be your actual date.”

Kai just laughed in his head as Grayson spoke, knowing his friend could go on tangents about any topic. One of his favorite memories when they went to see the new Cats movie and having to listen to Graysons thoughts and feelings for the following two hours. While most would’ve been annoyed beyond belief Kai was content, he was always content just being in their presence. Leaning against the locker next to Graysons, a small smile on his face as he watched them, a couple eye rolls following his words. “Who knew you were so popular that everyone’s wondering who has your hand for prom,” he teased with a chuckle, standing up slightly.

“It’s still weird to me that I got nominated for that,” he spoke with a slight head shake, “Perhaps it’s the Montgomery name that got me on the ballot,” he shrugged, a brow raise being sent Graysons way. Truth was, Kai already had all his stuff planned for his promposal. He had a hopeful feeling, a much larger one than some may have when doing this thing, and he was excited. “I think you’d make a great third wheel, considering you’d be the first and second loudest cheering for me,” he spoke with a small shrug, an accompanying smirk tugging at his lips as he stood up straight.

“Since Im nominated for that stupid prince thing I feel like I sort of have to dress up in a suit? I was originally gonna try and get away with my usual style, seems unrealistic now,”

vanessa: "they jumped you guys?" vanessa asked, eyes growing wide. she knew that the eldest bell was dangerous and cunning, but she didn't think he'd ever do anything against his own children to prove a point. her mouth opened to say more, but there wasn't much that was able to come out. it disgusted vanessa to think what he could have said, but she knew better than to asl for anymore. "it doesn't matter what i'm planning, but i'm gonna... i'm gonna fix all of this," vanessa assured. "has daddy come to see you yet?" she asked, knowing the answer already but wanting to be proven wrong.

kai: "Yup," he spoke, with a small nod. "Something felt off the second he told us to leave. And perhaps if we were ever the slightest bit faster, things couldve been better," he knew it was hard to wrap ones head around, the idea of a father sending people to beat their own kid and his friend. It was a lot, but they also grew up knowing him to not be a good person, and not much shoudlve shocked them about the eldest male bell anymore. "It does matter because youre gonna be a stupid head, I can tell," He spoke with an eye roll, "Dont put yourself in danger V. Not for me, and not for Tiny. its over its done with. Lets just move on," He chuckled dryly, "You damn well know neither of them have been here,"

“OK personally, I liked the music choice from the party. But can I request that the next one you and your friend do, you have an optional karaoke request? I don’t know about you, but I’ve wanted to sing Lady Marmalade in front of a live crowd.”

“I think our music was pretty good, a nice mix of throwbacks and current jams. It was like a group karaoke type thing,” he chuckled as he sipped his drink, “Would there be outfit changes? Octave and range change for each part? Or you gonna get all your hoes to do the others parts?”

Tiny grumbled as he finished cutting his hair to even it out, a bald fade not exactly something he wanted, but he figured it was the price he had to pay for his little announcement last night. “I look like I did back in 1st Grade when my mom would take me and Vince to our aunt’s, her big sis. Her husband Uncle Rob used to bald fade our shit and knick our hairlines up so bad.” He called out to Kai as he brushed what remaining hair was on his head. “Your sister hold’s a grudge like a mug. So what if I called Esme and Katie bad chicks? I’m a hype man.”

Kai couldnt help the chuckles leaving his mouth, “hey now you can dye it like me, get a sick red or an orange,” he spoke, giving a pointed look, “Nah, you were a whole ass mess in first grade, half that shit was janky and not cut down right, and then the other half was well, even worse. This at least I can even you up and get this shit right,” He spoke, “You called her enemy the baddest bitches in this place at her own party? It makes sense to me but shed kill me if i disagreed,”

Gray: "I wonder what you gave you that idea," Gray returned the joking with a light laugh of his own. He nodded some as he paid attention to what Kai had to say before he answered, "I'd say so. Probably the best way to put it and that's coming from someone who doesn't even know the situation." He aimed to peck Kai's forehead again in a comforting gesture as he wished that he could do more to support his partner in crime. Even though he kept plenty of things under lock and key, one of his primary sources of comfort was knowing that he had such an awesome friend in his corner if he ever decided to talk about any of it. He doubted he would, but all the same, he wanted to return the favor. After all, there wasn't a thing in the world that Gray wouldn't do for his friends. Another round of chuckles escaped as they kept talking about the bodyguard concept. "I agree. There's an idea for the near future, coming up with a foolproof workout plan that will turn me into the bodyguard of your dreams." A thoughtful look appeared on his face before he added, "And the smart mouth will hopefully keep you laughing. Maybe fire off a stereotypical, cheesy as hell quip or two."

kai: "I dont know, maybe we made out or something," He shrugged, grabbing the tv remote, watching as the screen lit up. Just the presence of Gray soothed him, made things seem better. Even if he knew deep down they werent, and there was a lot more in his life that was bad than good. But Gray was a large part of the light spot in his darkness, and he was forever grateful. He had a lot of stories and a lot of baggage, especially when it came to his family. Parts of it not even his own story to tell, but he experienced it, and had a part in it. He also knew that him and Gray were similar in more ways than their smart ass setting that never seemed to turn off. Both were fiercely protective of the ones they love, and he would do anything for his friends. Hence why he was in the position he was in probably. "Itll get you ripped before you know it, like those body builder competitions," Laughing at their expression, shaking his head lightly, "Or bust out some nerd stuff and confuse em,"

Gray: "Well, thank you very much and I'm honored that I'm one of your favorite people. You're one of my favorite people, I hope you know that," Gray responded before he gave Kai a smile full of reassurance. "And when it comes to telling me about all of this, take the time you need of course. Whole ass messes take time to work through, especially with everything else that goes on in a day. School, work if you have a job, things like that." Hell, he had his own fair share of experience with whole ass messes of different varieties, yet there were messes all the same. But it was moments spent with loved ones like Kai that made him feel like he was on top of the world and could conquer each mess with ease. As they revisited the bodyguard idea, Gray chuckled, "Yeah, I imagine that I'd have to bulk up a fair amount. 'Cause right now, I could probably give the cross country team a run for their money but I'd lose in any fight that wasn't a battle of wits."

kai: "Ya know i didnt want to presume we were eachothers favorites, but something told me we might be," He joked, laughing lightly. "Its just-" he paused for a second, running his hand over his hair for a moment. "My family has a lot of stories and not a whole lot of them are good. Is that a good way to put it?" He shrugged slightly, "I suppose," He knew that both him and Gray had their fair share of secrets, and for potentially the same reasons. The things they kept were the things that hurt them, and he didnt want to send his pain onto someone he was close with. Someone who he knew was dealing with their own fair share of things. But they brought out the good in each other, and made all the bad disappear if only for a moment. "I think we can come up with a nice workout routine," he chuckled lightly, "However, you got a sharp tongue, can be used to your advantage,"
