formative years? aren’t they all?
actually I think you should be normal about ordinary citizens of authoritarian countries and yes that applies even to that country you're thinking of right now
"but they support [dictator] and [violent action]!" okay is it possible that a combination of propaganda, election rigging, and authoritarian crackdowns on dissent could lead a population to look like it supports something most people would find distasteful under more reasonable circumstances
I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.
I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.
TRINITY TATUM & ANIYA HARVEY Love Island USA ⭒ 8x24: "Episode 24"
the first kiss of aniya and carl in say less is visually the most beautiful scene of love island. the colors, their chemistry, the tension, the light, the ambiance, THE KISS - absolute perfection.
“that’s ‘cause you give me butterflies” STOP OMG WHEN WILL SOMEONE LIKE HIM SHOW UP FOR ME AND HE ALSO MAKES AMORA BREAKFAST AND SAYS “makes sure no one goes hungry” FUCK HE’S A REAL MAN
i love declining birth rates 🥰 "what a horrible problem! society will collapse!" oopsie it looks like you're gonna have to make having children worth it 😊 teehee you're gonna have to improve society in order to fix this problem, or it will all collapse. oh noooooo. how horrible. :3c
anywho obama and biden and their party are going to hell for what theyve done to the global south and i personally am not turning a blind eye to it just bc they are blue
you can have multiple most gorgeous looking women giving performance of their lifetime in a movie or show yet people will still come out obsessing & wanting to fuck a white man with the personality of a wet cardboard
oh because we were all wondering
Caught myself spiraling and then remembered it's just my body not wanting to exist in these temperatures
I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things
my coworker announces that he's off to the dentist. someone reacts with a tooth emoji. is this a statement of dentist solidarity? a wish for my coworker to return with more (or fewer?) teeth than he set out with? simple word association? who can say
i honestly don't really understand why "some people prefer watching gameplay online rather than playing games themselves" is treated as such a taboo when being a spectator is considered a pretty mundane way to engage with most sports, game shows, reality tv or even just like. chess.
Don't call me if your party doesn't look like that:
“Too many people in the u.s support death and destruction without being aware of it. They indirectly support the killing of people without ever having to look at the corpses. But in Cuba i could see the results of u.s foreign policy: torture victims on crutches who came from other countries to Cuba for treatment, including Namibian children who had survived massacres, and evidence of the vicious aggression the u.s government had committed against Cuba, including sabotage and numerous assassination attempts against Fidel.
I wondered how all those people in the states who tried to sound tough, saying that the u.s should go in here, bomb there, take over this, attack that, would feel if they knew that they were indirectly responsible for babies being burned to death. i wondered how they would feel if they were forced to take moral responsibility for that. It sometimes seems that people in the states are so accustomed to watching death on “Eyewitness News”, watching people starve to death in Africa, being tortured to death in Latin America or shot down on Asian streets, that, somehow, for them, people across the ocean — people “up there” or “down there” or “over there” — are not real.”

i know they say no one is coming to save you but why the fuck not
