I’ve Given Up On You

I spent so many nights dreaming about the future and who’d be part of it. Sometimes that future felt empty, like waiting for a train that’d never come. I’d be out there at the station all by myself, on a cold night.

But that’s when it happens.

A car’s headlight flickers in the distance and slowly gets closer. It rolls up next to me and the driver lowers the window. He smiles, and I smile back.

There was someone waiting for me after all.

If I tremble at the sight of you...

It’s not because I’m cold. Well, maybe a little bit. Those sweltering summer days finally died away for this beautiful fall weather (or at least I think it’s fall here). The leaves haven’t changed color, but it feels 20 degrees cooler and I can wear sweaters without feeling like a crazy person. And if it keeps getting colder, it’ll be perfect cuddle weather.
