With the upcoming Kingdom Of Zod arc in Supergirl, is there another series you would recommend reading for any background knowledge and context?

I wrote a story in Action Comics #1100 that is a prologue to Supergirl 16, it's not totally necessary but has some context for the characters all hanging out together. There's also stuff from Superman Unlimited, mostly the El Caldero/Kryptonite Kingdom storyline. The event is actually a follow-up to a mini from 2024, Kneel Before Zod, not sure why it took so long!! Haha.

When you see all the love and attention Lesla-Lar gets across social media, are you especially proud of your interpretation of her and how well received she’s been? ^^

I'm actually kind of surprised! I've seen more than one person say how much they hate Lesla so it's really cool seeing the opposite opinion pop up. It makes me really want to do a Lesla spin-off, haha.

Might sound silly but..What do you think about people selfshipping with the characters you created? (No matter if it's from tmnt or the other comics you worked on!!)

I've never heard of self shipping! What does that entail?? But feel free, doesn't bother me.

I decided to try to make a comic with my OCS (not TMNT related) and wanted to ask if you had any ideas for starting your own Comic

I want my comic to be a TV MA type Action Comedy with some Slice of Life to it

But it's truly something I want to try and help me focus on something,I got tons of ideas it's just hard to stay focus on a single story(I'm currently thinking of my 2nd Tournament Arc)

But again any advice can help if you got time

That sounds cool! I guess my only advice is to just start writing it, put your ideas down in a tangible form and then start drawing. Simple as that. There's never going to be a "perfect" time to start doing it, it's always going to feel overwhelming at first, you just have to jump in the deep end and start drawing page 1!

Hello Ms. Campbell! So, issue #18 of Supergirl is not included with the October solicits, so I wonder, is the book skipping a month or was it just a mistake?

I'm not sure actually! I haven't heard anything about skipping a month but I'll ask my editors about it.

i’m so excited to see mae again! the supergirl #18 cover is gorgeous and i love the homage to superman #21. supergirl saga is such a complicated arc with so much potential but not the best execution (i like mae in it though, even if at some point she kinda disappears in favor of the whole execution nonsense)! i hope your reinterpretation lands a bit more smoothly, i have high hopes <33

i’ve been noticing some possibilities for where mae will be coming from here and i’m really excited to see how it happens. i think it’s really cool how close this is to the zod event with ursa, especially considering mae’s history with zod and zaora (and quex ul is there i guess)! and so close to the superboys event with her connection there too!!

i love how goopy she looks already! and the cape!! thank you so much for bringing her back, i’m so so excited. i hope i don’t come off as having super extreme high standards or anything, i’m happy as long as you treat her with the same care you have with the rest of supergirl lore <33

Was the gorilla orb with Titano in issue #2 of Supergirl a reference to Ultraseven?

Not specifically but I guess it's the latest in a long line of throwable capsule creatures from Ultraseven to Yu-Gi-Oh to Pokemon.

Thanks for answering my last question, about the orphanage (I guess you already wrote Kara as having complicated feelings about it anyways, which is kinda the takeaway from the other SoSG stories taken together!). A few more quick questions: 1) You were showing off outfits on Bluesky for Kara; do you plan to keep changing her look every arc or two? 2) You mentioned on Bsky that Lesla would be back; what about Zora? (I notice she's put on a path towards reform like in the 80s...) 3) At the end of #15, Lena seems to her own Supergirl(!); do those solar reservoirs give anyone Kryptonian powers? (I just assumed they worked for Team Thunder because they were the "offspring" of Kim-Da)

If I had my way she'd be changing costumes every issue, haha.

Zora currently has a cameo in issue 18 but nothing concrete beyond that (yet!). I kinda want to do my own spin on the old story where she frees the evil leprechaun L. Finn from the Phantom Zone.

No, the solar reservoirs only work on Kryptonians or similar species (like Boy Thunder) that are empowered by sunlight. The reason they were used is because in Kandor, Kryptonians don't have powers, so the reservoir tech channels sunlight into the wearer. Lena won't be getting powers beyond what she's already been doing with her super-smarts and gadgets.

I'm not too sure if you've already been asked this but when you were designing Scout is there anyone that you used as a reference or someone you pictured as you drew her?

She wasn't based on anyone, no. I actually put less effort into her design than I usually do because originally after she transformed into Shadoweyes I never thought I'd be drawing her human form again, so I didn't want to "waste" a design on her, if that makes sense. Since I ended up drawing a lot of random pics of her human form and she wound up turning back that form in the next book, I put more thought into her design and refined it a bit.

I read the Summer of Supergirl Special last week and loved it! Your SG/Lobo story took a unique angle and it fits how you've written SG. But the other stories that made me want to ask two things:

1) Was there any collab between you/Simone/Waid on the Special?

2) Have the other stories influenced how you think about/plan to write about the Midvale Orphanage in the future (since both Waid and Simone brought it up, albeit in different ways), assuming you've thought it over? (I just found it fascinating both of them referenced it on top of you bringing it up back in the Christmas issue.)

There was no collab with Gail or Mark at all, no, I had no idea what they were doing and I didn't even get to read their stories until the issue came out! I was a little surprised at the different takes they both had on the orphanage, interesting juxtaposition. I don't think it'll change how I write it in the main series if it comes up again.

With your work on Supergirl, what versions of Supergirl would you say have been your greatest inspiration aside from Silver Age if I remember right (Sorry I get silver and gold mixed up)?

The main inspirations are the 1972 series by Cary Bates, Art Saaf, Vince Coletta, and Arnold Drake, and the Adventure Comics from around that same time. Everyone felt like they were on fire in those comics.

Since you worked on Mothra: Queen Of Monsters, are there any other Toho kaiju you'd like to take a stab at making their own solos as well?

Does Daigoro count? He's joint Toho/Tsuburaya but he's the big one I'd love to do. Rodan, Anguirus, Mechanikong, and Gabara are also high on the list.

Hi!! This questions is probably super outdated but i was re-reading the Jem and The Holograms comics and was wondering how you came up with the clothing designs? They're all super cute and i just love them!!

Thank you so much! Some of them were based on outfits from the cartoon or the dolls and I'd take them and make alterations to them in my own style, and some I just made up. There wasn't really a secret to it, it's just what I thought would look cool and be fun to draw and what would fit the characters and overall tone.

What’s your stance on having tattoos based on your work? I’m kinda hoping to get a little reference to koya in tattoo form one day but I know there’s a lot of tricky implications in using artists work without permission for something so permanent

I consider people getting tattoos of my work to be a huge honor!! I love it, I think it's great.

I have been wondering this

If you know of the New Turtles Odyn,Moja,Uno and Yi,which ones would you say are your Favorite from Least to Great? Or are all of them your Favorites(plus I think you drew them for a cover I think)

I like their designs a lot but I confess I've never actually read any of the comics they're in so I don't know much about them at all.

How would Koya confess her love to Leo? Outright yelling or a show of affection?
