Back onto the island

Dawn was surprised when she got an invitation to come back onto the new season of Total Drama Island. It had been a few years since she had been on the show and she hadn't necessarily been a fan favorite when she competed but apparently it was enough to bring her onto another season. That was a few days ago and now she was on a boat full of previous competitors and she wondered what the new twist on this season would be but she was sure to find out shortly. After being dropped off with another boat docking they were corralled on the beach.

"Okay contestants I'm you host Chris McLean and as you can see there there's familiar faces and unfamiliar faces and double the amount of you guys." The host commented from a wooden stand. "Each previous contestant will pair off with a newbie and then those pairs will make up the teams. Be careful who you pick as the first newbie you choose will be with you for the rest of the game. If you get out they're out. You now have 5 minutes to choose your partners!" He announced before pressing a button that let off a timer to start counting down.

After hearing the speech by Chris dawn started to look around and find out who she wanted to choose. as she wandered the beach she looked to the others auras, though most people weren't even paying attention to her. She eventually looked towards someone and saw an aura she liked and decided to approach. "Hi, do you have a partner yet? If not I feel we could make a really useful team." She spoke, smiling at the larger person.

"I mean we still might need to worry about the moose just not for a minute, hopefully they choose to chase other contestants first." At his question she went back to what Chris had said. "He didn't say anything about how to get to the island but knowing this show we won't be given a boat but maybe..." She trailed off looking around at their surroundings. "See that log I think it can support us we can use it kinda like a canoe, we'd make faster time than swimming like the other team." She pointed out as she looked at the log before turning back towards Hiroyuki. "What do you think? Think it's a good idea?"

At her suggestion, he would take a moment to think. Swimming could be a safer option, but the log was fair large and was certainly sturdy enough to allow both of them to slip on top of it before they'd use it to get to the island. "I think that would work just fine." He stated before he was then beginning to grab at one end of the log as he'd then bring it closer to the water before he waited for her to slip on it before he'd push it fully into the water.

Dawn slipped onto the log as he brought it closer to the water. She really hoped the idea worked and that they'd be able to get to the island and back. "Alright I'm ready." She commented as she settle herself and grabbed a stick to use as a paddle. In doing so she uncovered a hidden hole with two necklaces that were just a band of cord with a little carving of Chris' had attached to it. "Alright so these might be something to prevent elimination, hold onto this one." She commented tossing one of them to Hiroyuki before they set out of their crossing. "I appreciate the help that you're doing." Dawn commented. "Your aura told me that our team would work great together."

"Careful!" He'd say as he'd reach out and then began to carry her in his arms bridal style. Hopefully, she was comfortable. Carrying Dawn wasn't a struggle. To Hiroyuki, she was as light as several sacks of rice he'd carry in bulk whenever he bought some. Holding her up in his arms, Hiroyuki would run as she would point out directions. "Right. Okay." He'd say as he'd be following the directions. "Quite the adventure." He comments. "Much different from what I'm used to." He admitted.

"I'll try to be more careful next time." Her response coming out as sincere as she could be. She was surprised at how he was able to carry her, she knew she wasn't the heaviest person in fact she knew she was relatively light but he seemed to not have any trouble carrying her whatsoever. After what seemed like forever she saw another island sitting in the water that was quickly approaching. That's the island, and look there's only one other team in front of us!" She exclaimed as she got down from his arms as they got to the shoreline. "I also think we lost the moose."

Why did his stablemaster have to sign him up on a gameshow? Well, he couldn't get out of it now. He was already in this situation, so he might as well give it a shot even if it meant he would not be training nor competing for however long this show lasted.

As he'd listen to the host speak, Hiroyuki would find himself wondering just what would happen. Five minutes wasn't much time to decide on a partner, but it seems fate had different plans as the sumo wrestler would find himself being approached by a young woman. Fiddling with the obi to his kimono, Hiroyuki found himself gazing at her eyes as she spoke to him. Bare toes curled into his geta as he'd find himself suddenly nervous. Bit that changed at hearing her words. At her question, he shook his head. "No, I do not." He'd say truthfully before the sumo wrestler would then listen. Then she smiled at him, almost instantly Hiroyuki uncured his toes and relaxed somewhat. Well, he would not say no. "I'm honored you'd think so." He'd say to her as he'd return the smile to her. Plump lips pressed together before parting as he'd speak.

"I wouldn't mind being your partner." He mused before he would then introduce himself. "I'm Koizumi Hiroyuki." He'd say before he would then bow. "It's my pleasure to meet and work with you."

Dawn wasn't surprised by the short time limit, That seemed typical for anything to do with Total Drama but she was glad that she had managed to find a partner for the games.

"Well that's good, glad that we were able to become partners, your aura brought me to chose you." She admitted bowing back at him trying to be respectful. "Nice to meet you Hiroyuki, I'm Dawn. It's..." She spoke before being cut off by Chris.

"Okay Contestants your time is up. Now it's time to sort you all into the teams but first you have to make it to the other island any way you can grab a team totem and then make it to your new cabins, all while being chased by mutant moose." Chris announced showing large cages behind him with some rather large and angry moose with various mutations. "Aaand GO!" He yelled before the cages released the animals.

"Hiroyuki, I hopefully we'll have time to chat later, now we should probably start running." She commented as the contestants scattered after not being told which direction to go, typical for the course of the show.

Things went by quickly, it seemed. The two didn't even have a chance to get to know each other before he would then hear that they had to go and run and be chased. Well, it was all part of the show.

Nodding his head as she spoke, he'd run along closely before adding. "I can carry you if you get tired." He offered. He was stronger than he looked and had quite the stamina.

Dawn was more used to the fast paced nature of the show from her short time on the her previous season, but even to her this felt faster than the other time, and more dangerous as well.

"Thanks for the offer but...." She stopped as she tripped but almost as soon as she hit the ground it seemed like she was picked up until she saw that her partner, no more than that, her new friend, picked her up and then they were still moving with Dawn being carried. "Thank you so much. If it's the island that I'm thinking about we need to turn here." She told him as they navigated the woods.

From Canada to Gotham

The trip to America was fairly mundane, and normal, and honestly she didn't mind that. Unfortunately for her the move America was fairly expensive and the only place she could afford to get to was Gotham City. A job had already been aligned for her and now after a few days of sitting in an apartment in the eastern side of the city it was her first day of work. She hadn't really been told about a uniform so she just wore her normal attire consisting of a blue collared shirt under a green sweater, a skirt, purple long socks and black shoes. As she stepped out of the taxi and towards the shop which she had the address written on a slip of paper she opened the door cautiously.

"Mr Owens? I'm got the job from the posting not too long ago." She called out wandering the empty shop until she ran into a man, she realized it was who she was looking for after looking up and seeing the face that had shown up when she was doing her research for the position she had obtained. "Sorry I'm a minute late, the traffic here is like nothing that I've seen before." She commented, folding her hands in front of her but offering him a smile. "It's nice to meet you in person I'm Dawn." She spoke, holding out her hand.

The store front was called Artificers of Gotham, and it was a repair shop and supply store for tinkerers of a casual nature and professional alike, with all points between covered. Though he'd been running the store with his coworker for a while now, Tyson knew that he could use some help. So he put out a job posting for an assistant and seemed to get an answer from someone from the Great White North.

As the door opened, a loud meow was heard from the back, the padding quartet of paws holding up a tiger striped orange cat sounding louder and louder as the cat meowed his way to the front, snuggling against the guest's legs. She was soon followed by a young man wearing a hooded flannel button up over a Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon t-shirt.

"No need to worry, traffic in this city is bad, especially when we have sudden abnormal issues. Usually on Wednesday, so plan accordingly."

He shook her hand. "Hello, Dawn, you can call me Tyson if you'd like. Mr. Owens if you must but it makes me feel like I'm teaching high school computer science again," he said. "I see you've met our local morale manager, greeter, and mascot. Meet Jonesy."

The cat seemed to already adore her. "First question in our interview is how are you with cats? You won't be asked to do anything special, but Jonesy does love the occasional ear scritch."

"That's good to know, I'll have to get a feel of the city better to plan my trip accordingly." She acknowledged, glad that he was understanding of her plight to get to work on time.

"Got it I won't call you Mr. Owens then, Tyson is fine." It was strange that she wasn't picking up Tyson's aura though, normally she could see someone's and then act accordingly but now she was just in the dark. "Yes he seems like a nice cat."

"Oh you want more scratches Jonesy?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the cat, scratching him more as he snuggled upon her legs.

"Anyways Tyson, I'm great with cats, I'm great with all animals really. I actually ended up creating an animal sanctuary for mutated animals in Canada. And Jonesy said that you may not ask me to do anything special but he surely will." She chuckled giving him another ear scritch. "Don't worry Jonesy I got you." She gave a quick smile to the cat, seemingly understanding his meows.

Rosa knocked on Tyson's door, she knew that he'd be able to help her study for her naturalization process. Now that her husband was deployed again she needed to find a new sponsor and also someone to help her study for her testing.

She had a stack of books that she had to nearly memorize. As soon as he answered the door she smiled at him. "Hey Tyson, could you help me I need help with my naturalization."

“Of course,” Tyson nodded, stepping aside to allow her into his home. “You came all this way, it’d be rude of me to say no.”

Tyson’s apartment was in a renovated clocktower, where he resided up in the clock face area in an apartment that was like a small townhouse. Had a lovely view of the entire city no matter where you looked, but only the bravest got right up to the window.

“Can I get you something to drink?” he asked.

She stepped inside and looked around at his apartment. It was interesting to say the least. Setting her books down on the table she sat down and looked back at Tyson. "Water will be fine." She told him politely.

"You're really the only person I have "My husband is in Iraq right now along with my other friends. I'm on leave until I figure this mess out."

“Water it is,” he nodded, filling up from the fridge filter and doing up a bowl for his dogs, a yellow lab with a bandana around his neck and a large floofy Newfoundland puppy. He also had a bowl for a ginger cat he called Jonesy, also filled at the filter.

For himself, he brought over a small half pint bottle of green liquid, that when the cap was released, it smelt citrusy and sweet. “Okay, I’ve got your back. It’s a right shame they expect you to put your life on the line for the same people that deny you citizenship without jumping through the hoops. But don’t you worry, we’ll get through this.”

“I mean I get why I have so many hoops Tyson, I came to the States illegally. I am a DREAMer. But thank you for doing this.” She admitted slightly blushing. “I’ve got most of the paperwork down, serving in the Army’s given me the amazing ability to do paperwork.” She chuckled.

“Okay first question. What does the Judicial branch do?” She read, looking at the question from the booklet. She looked confused about the question. She honestly didn’t know.

“We could get into a whole debate over who did what to send whom fleeing to a relatively safer place, and that the Statue of Liberty doesn’t say anything about people having to fill out a test to be safe within the country they stand for, but that won’t do us any good,” he remarked. “Okay, so we’ve got that down.”

“Judicial branch interprets laws. They serve as part of a checks and balances against the other two branches. Legislative makes laws, executive enforces, and Judicial makes sure the laws are constitutional. Checks and Balances gives each of the branches power to keep the other two from being too powerful, but the other branches have just as much power to keep each other in line.”

"Makes enough sense." She spoke with a smile. She was sure she was going to ace the test. She continued to flip through pages of the book trying to find other questions that she felt she'd struggle with.

After about an hour of studying with him she closed the book. Sm"So i think we've gotten to a good spot to stop studying, today. Should we just hang out for a few?" She inquired.

“You got this, I’m sure you will,” he nodded. Later on, they finished studying after an hour. You couldn’t keep pushing your brain to remember things without taking a break. “That’d be great. I’m going to order pizza, and put on a movie. Tonight, I’m feeling either Black Panther or Into the Spiderverse.”

"Awesome!" She said with a grin before getting up. "Actually, I have a better idea than a pizza. I can make some pretty good pozole. And if you don't have the ingredients I can always make tacos." She chuckled heading over to the kitchen.

“Of course,” Tyson nodded, stepping aside to allow her into his home. “You came all this way, it’d be rude of me to say no.”

Tyson’s apartment was in a renovated clocktower, where he resided up in the clock face area in an apartment that was like a small townhouse. Had a lovely view of the entire city no matter where you looked, but only the bravest got right up to the window.

“Can I get you something to drink?” he asked.

She stepped inside and looked around at his apartment. It was interesting to say the least. Setting her books down on the table she sat down and looked back at Tyson. "Water will be fine." She told him politely.

"You're really the only person I have "My husband is in Iraq right now along with my other friends. I'm on leave until I figure this mess out."

“Water it is,” he nodded, filling up from the fridge filter and doing up a bowl for his dogs, a yellow lab with a bandana around his neck and a large floofy Newfoundland puppy. He also had a bowl for a ginger cat he called Jonesy, also filled at the filter.

For himself, he brought over a small half pint bottle of green liquid, that when the cap was released, it smelt citrusy and sweet. “Okay, I’ve got your back. It’s a right shame they expect you to put your life on the line for the same people that deny you citizenship without jumping through the hoops. But don’t you worry, we’ll get through this.”

“I mean I get why I have so many hoops Tyson, I came to the States illegally. I am a DREAMer. But thank you for doing this.” She admitted slightly blushing. “I’ve got most of the paperwork down, serving in the Army’s given me the amazing ability to do paperwork.” She chuckled.

“Okay first question. What does the Judicial branch do?” She read, looking at the question from the booklet. She looked confused about the question. She honestly didn’t know.
