Beltane Tips!
* Wear lots of green
* Have a bonfire and fill it with fragrant incense, flowers, and sacred woods
* Bake tiny colorful cookies (with flowers, if you can!) and offer them to your local fae
* The veil is the thinnest this time of year - the only other time it’s this thin is during Samhain. Venerate and honor the spirits, and guard against malicious ones with salt along your windowsills or doors
* Wash your face with the morning dew to fill yourself with beauty
* Eat sexually suggestive foods or aphrodisiacs
* Dance. Dance a LOT. Turn on some drum-heavy music and let loose. Do it alone in your room at night, if you have to.
* Go talk to all your local plants and give them little offerings of water. Blessed water charged with a quartz crystal would be extra nice.
* Do a tarot reading for yourself (or have someone else do it for you). This is a wonderful time of year for divination!
* Buy flowers. Pick flowers. Wear flowers. BE FLOWERS.
* You don’t have to have sex to have a legitimate Beltane, but you can always show yourself some love if ya know what I mean *wink wink*
* This is a holiday of sensual pleasure. That doesn’t necessarily mean sex - it means really indulge your senses. Take a hot, luxurious bath. Dance until you work up a sweat. Eat foods that you love and crave. Smell the flowers, feel your bare feet in the grass, splash your face with fresh water. FEEL the world around you - the spirits are alive and active on Beltane! Engage your emotional, intuitive, sensual side and you might catch a glimpse of one or two.
* Reach out to friends you haven’t talked to in awhile. Strike up a friendly conversation. Celebrate friendship!
* Meditate with crystals that open your third-eye or specifically relate to the fairy or devic realms - chlorite phantom quartz, moss agate, rainforest jasper, green diopside, spirit quartz, azeztulite, most green crystals, prehnite, a rock you found someplace outdoors that feels charged with earth energy - you choose!
* Perform solitary spells for abundance, protection, fertility, romance, love, sex, and divination!
* Plant seeds and start a magickal garden. There are lots of plants you can grow indoors pretty easily that have magickal properties.
* Dedicate an altar to Flora, Cernunnos, Bes, Pan, Hera, etc - any deity you can think of who rules fertility, marriage, romance, and abundance!
Hope you all have a wonderful Beltane!!!
“You think that it’s not magic that keeps you alive? Just ‘cause you understand the mechanics of how something works, doesn’t make it any less of a miracle. Which is just another word for magic. We’re all kept alive by magic”

Offering stones
When taking something from nature, such as herbs, it is nice to give something back. You can leave these lovely air-dry stones in places such as the forest as a way to say thank you. Leaving these in nature is also totally safe for the environment. You can also offer these to a god/goddess.
Recipe:
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup of corn starch
1 ½ cups cold water
Mix until smooth, then put it in a pan and stir until it boils. Keep stirring until it is the consistency of mashed potatoes.
Let it cool and take the clay out of the pan. It should feel really smooth and you will probably play with it alot before you are even going to make the stones :)
I added some herbs and flowers, such as rosemary, lavender, roses, carnations, thyme, cloves, cinnamon, some blue flowers of which I don’t know the name and some orange berries that I found near the park.
I just made a little ball, then made a hole in it and added some herbs.
Now you can decorate it! You can add anything and shape them in any way you want. As you can see I made some squares, hearts, blobs and even an easter egg :) I’ve seen some people use glitter and I recommend you don’t add any glitter since that is actually bad for the environment. I tried using normal white sugar as an alternative, but i noticed that the stones got kind of wet, which I should’ve seen coming. Not sure what’s going to happen when it dries so I’ll keep you guys updated.
I’m so happy with these and I am definitely going to use these for Ostara ^^ Of course you can use this recipe to make anything you want, not just offering stones.
I hope this was helpful for you guys ^-^

)O( Garden Witch Tip )O(
A lot of witchlings say they have black thumbs but want to grow plants, especially of the magical variety, but are afraid they’ll just kill anything they try to grow. MY FRIENDS. Let me introduce you to the plants that are a) magical and b) flipping hard to kill. But before that I want you to remember: you have energy, and plants are living things that FEEL that energy (it’s been scientifically proven that plants respond and grow–or die–because of music. So yeah. Energy. They feel yours). If all you do is think “this plant isn’t going to make it, just like the last one” or “I’m no good at this” or “I hope it doesn’t die!” you’re going to get a dead or unhealthy plant (or a more likely out come of it). Instead of thinking negative thoughts while you plant things, think positive thoughts. Envision NOT your plant dying, but your plant thriving, growing and giving you leaves for tea or protection or love or a clean home. Plants will grow if you let them. Also, as a gardener I also want to say; People fuss over plants A LOT. But if plants were as delicate and fragile as we treat them, they never wold have survived on their on in the wilds where they come from. Plants are tough. Take care of them, but know they can thrive on their own too! MAGICAL PLANTS THAT ARE EASY TO GROW OR KEEP ALIVE: Rosemary: Used for protection, purification, love, lust, mental powers, exorcism, healing, sleep. Don’t try to grow from seed. Buy at your local store, put it in a pot (terra cotta is better than plastic as it retains water in its pores longer, but hey, plastic works too!) and place it in a sunny window if you don’t have a balcony or backyard. It doesn’t need MUCH water as it’s from the Mediterranean and grew in rocky places. If unsure, stick your finger in the pot. If it’s dry down to an inch, water it! You can use the sprigs to dip into blessed water to asperge (sprinkle water on) your house to cleanse it of negative energies–or put it in your cooking! Mint: Used for cleansing, consecration, dreams, happiness, healing, love, money, passion, prosperity, protection, psychic development, purification, release, renewal, rest. This plant loooooves water! In fact it usually grows near (and even trails into) streams and creeks. So if you tend to over water things, this is your friend! Again, if you live an apartment put it in a pot in a sunny window! Make a mint tea before doing a tarot reading! If you have yard don’t grow it in the ground–its super invasive. Keep it in a pot! Beans: Used for creativity and communication. I know what you’re thinking. BEANS? But really! There’s a reason teachers send kids homes with bean pods in bags to have them grow for a science experiment. Because they’ll freaking grow in a bag. They’re SUPER hardy! Get a pot, fill it with good potting mix, stick a tall pole in the middle (like a bamboo rod found in most local garden stores) and plant four seeds around the poll. Set it in a sunny location in your apartment and watch those things GROW. They’ll put out pretty flowers AND food! Plus, I mean, they’re pretty hard to kill!
GRIMOIRE TIPS&IDEAS
I’ve heard from quite a few of you that you don’t know what to put in your grimoire, or that you were having a hard time filling it! Here is a jumble of Lapis Cat’s tips & ideas for your grimoire!
Getting started can be hard, for a lot of reasons! I think it took me so incredibly long to do mine because i was so nervous about messing it up.
Different ways to keep your grimoire
- Spiral notebooks
- Composition books
- Binders
- Flash drive/SD card
- In google drive, notes on your phone/computer, online
- I’ve seen a $5 hardback sketchbook from michaels used
I will add, Don’t go off and buy a $65 grimoire that is beautiful for your first one, unless you really just must. You will have many grimoires after this one, and they will get more organized and beautiful as you establish your style over time.
Once you’ve selected your personal book, Its time to gather information to put in it! This is the part i’m often asked about. Nothing is mandatory in a grimoire, and you should add only information that is important to you. The one thing i will suggest you add is a blessing as one of your first pages. I’ve posted a book of shadows blessing in the past <3 Everything listed under this are just ideas for things you can add in!

How to Read Your Candle 🕯
(Pyromancy, specifically… aka reading your candle’s flame)
High flame: your spell is strong along with the magick surrounding you
Low flame: there is something opposing your spell. It might be you, a deity, or the magick in general that believes you shouldn’t do this spell or maybe your magick isn’t strong enough at the time of your spell (try meditating more or practicing more if you think this is the case)
Crackling or popping flame: conversation! Your deities or spirits are trying to speak to you!
flickering flame: usually indicates a spirit is near or that your deity is listening to your prayer if you’re using a devotional candle
A split flame: indicates that there is more than one spirit accompanying you
If the candle will not light: your guardian/deity/intuition doesn’t think doing this spell is a good idea
if the candle will not go out: usually means your spell is not done and your magic is still trying to finish up, let it burn some more until you think it’s time to put it out
How to return to the craft
I’m finally looking to the future and creating posts I can link, instead of answering the same questions over and over. It’s not that I mind answering them, it’s just that I usually don’t have the energy to give you the solid answer you deserve.\
Where to start?
I generally wouldn’t recommend picking up where you left off. You spent a lot of time building up to that point, jumping right in is going to be a lot. I would recommend starting slow, and slowly building back up. Get a solid foundation back under your feet:
Make a list of the things that you’d like to relearn, and do one per day.
Start at the basics, even if you knew the advanced stuff. Act like a beginner again and relearn. Chances are, you’ll learn some things you missed before!
Don’t compare it to your old craft. Crafts and paths are constantly shifting over time, taking a break doesn’t change this, time has passed and your craft will likely be different.
Do what excites you! Learn new things too! What drew you back into the craft? This is a great chance for a fresh start!
Drawing a blank? Here’s some ideas of things to research/relearn:
Altars.
Astral travel/projection.
Astrology.
Crystals.
Deities (perhaps learn about a new pantheon!)
Divination (any type)
Local wildlife; birds, animals, plants.
Mythology (maybe local mythology and lore?)
Sigil creation and using.
Space; the cosmos.
Spell writing and casting.
Spirit work.
Warding/protection.
Whatever you want!!
Some recommendations if you feel stuck/hit a block:
Browse the baby witch tag and help some beginners out. They have so much motivation and inspiration, and it’ll likely leak over to you (and you’ll reinforce some of the knowledge you forgot you had).
Buy yourself something witchy (it doesn’t have the be expensive, even just a new little candle you only burn for witchy things).
Find a friend who is also getting back into the craft, talk about your practices!
Look up some tips and tricks on overcoming art block/writer’s block and find a way to apply them.
Know that it’s perfectly normal to hit blocks and lose motivation (it happens to me all the time at least). And it’s okay to take as many breaks/hiatuses as you need.
