Random Ghost Crew Headcanons #1/?

Hera snorts when she laughs. She keeps a very cool exterior most of the time, but she's a secret fan of crude humor and occasionally something will have her doubled over giggling like a middle-schooler.

Kanan is a functioning alcoholic. We have no idea how many important things he's done while buzzed. Hera can still drink him under the table, though.

Chopper is about 80% original parts. Hera has had to get custom machining work done to replace some older and more rarely replaced parts for him. He has his own unique set of old machine noises he makes, and if it's quiet you can hear him from across the ship. It kinda sounds like there's always something wrong with him, but Hera can always pick out when something is actually off.

Zeb, despite his rough and tumble appearance, is extremely particular in his tastes. Hera and Kanan will pretty much eat whatever and have kinda horrendous diets (week old cold space pizza, space cup noodles, space pop tarts, etc. etc,) but Zeb will literally only eat the name brand space waffles. The generic brand is DIFFERENT.

Sabine is a chronic nail chewer. It's Hera and Zeb's least favorite thing in the galaxy. It's made especially gross bc the state of Sabine's nails is usually quite bad (paint and engine grease under her nails, severely chipped nail polish, let's not even talk about her cuticles.) Hera has tried to put the yucky nail biting deterrent polish on her but tbh it didn't really work that well. Also, nail chewing is a much bigger issue for Lasat as they have CLAWS, so it gives Zeb the heebeegeebeez every time. Despite the condition of her own nails, Sabine can give a super solid amateur nail art manicure.

Ezra cannot stay still while he sleeps. He tosses and turns, sometimes ends up completely upside-down in his bunk. He has fallen out of the top bunk several times, but instead of trading him, Zeb just put up some netting from the cargo bay to catch him.

Pros and Cons of Bipedalism

Pros:

One of the most efficient gaits of the animal kingdom

Can carry and use tools while walking

Less area for sun exposure back in Africa (top of the head vs whole back)

Can carry our young since their stupid tiny hands can’t cling to us anymore like proper primates

Taller: see predators coming, pick fruit from trees, give better high-fives

Look scarier to other animals

saw a photo of garlic mustard somewhere on the internet once and americans in the comments were like "fun fact this plant is invasive so you should definitely tear out any you see, WITH THE ROOTS so it won't spread!" whole fucking time i'm living in garlic mustard native range. i don't think i will be doing that.

This drives me absolutely up the wall in r/birdfeeding. Every time there's a picture of a house sparrow, the entire comments are filled with americans talking about them being invasive and how they should be basically killed on sight. But often OP has not provided a location, and house sparrows have a HUGE native range. Here in the UK they're not only native birds, they're on the decline, they need our help and protection.

Me every time I see a post saying that you should destroy your lawn and cram a bunch of native plants as closely together as you can instead. Look, I'm not saying lawns are native to Australia because they're not, but our native plants evolved to burn; they are dry, their leaves are dry, and they're full of oils. If you plant native plants the way Americans tell you to that's a fucking fire hazard and you are endangering yourself and your neighbours next time we have a Black Summer.

tapping onto this, Ry's guide is for a specific part of NSW. Australia is a very very big place and there is a lot of biodiversity. So don't take one guide as The One True Guide because I used to be a ranger and lemme tell you, trying to stuff native plants in terrains they are unsuited for just creates a mess for everyone. Honestly, just google "native planting <your council> " and they will have a guide that is specific to your area.
