one of the really good things about the live action is I feel like we've gotten a lot more depths to the characters that we dont get in the manga because the live action has the benefit of happening well into the manga. like watching sanji struggle with nami being sick and it reminding him of his mother while on the other side we have zoro's struggle with sitting still when the crew is hurting.
nami directly question luffy on how he handles being a captain and that being throw back into his face again by vivi when it came to nami's health being on the line as well as luffy get called out by crocus for being a hypocrite towards laboon not accepting the fact that his crew couldn't be saved in that moment was so good.
the crew being an enemy to vivi but her valuing usopp's life over the potential of what that means for her in the future.
were also getting so much from robin having more moments of "hey, what's her motive and why is she sneaking around like this" (we also get this in the manga/anime but we do get more of her character which has been fun.
the only character I feel like they're missing the depth on is usopp but that's only because a lot of his character takes place in his head and that's something that's hard to adapt in a live action format.
I get why some people don't like it but it's so refreshing to see this level of depth that we don't necessarily get until later in the manga.
