saying “hm. must be the curse” every time something bad happens and refusing to elaborate is my new hobby
One time I was cooking with a girl and we were both bilingual but we didn’t have a language in common so we were just sitting by the fire doing prep work quietly and I was peeling little garlic cloves to mince and she put her hand on my arm to stop me and demonstrated how you’re supposed to press on the clove with the flat side of your knife to break the shell off all at once to peel it and I was like oh! And I imitated her and she nodded in approval and we went back to quietly peeling and mincing the garlic and I don’t want to be hyperbolic but in that moment I was like wow I truly understand the universal thread of human love and connection inherent in our souls or whatever
“What do we do with knowledge that we cannot bear to live with? What do we do with the things we do not want to know?”
— Deborah Levy, “Things I Don’t Want to Know: On Writing” (Bloomsbury USA June 10, 2014)
“Do you know what torture by hope is? After despair, calm sets in, but hope can drive you mad.”
-Anne Akhmatova
Loving her was like loving spring. It was new and exciting, but yet also warm and familiar.

literally i just can’t comprehend any interpretation of hamlet that doesn’t put grief at the center like. hamlet’s father died and he is actively grieving throughout the play that is the driver of all of his behavior. “is hamlet actually crazy or is he putting on a performance” is a boring question to me because grief is a type of insanity. grief makes you feel like you are performing even when you are all alone. it makes you feel like you’re seeing things it makes you feel completely alone it makes you cling to the people around you it makes you push them away it makes you angry and sad and hamlet wants to kill claudius for replacing his father and taking his mother from him as much as he wants to kill him for revenge.

compliment recklessly! say the nice things that come to your head! we've got better things to do than resisting the instinct to be kind!
No for real, this last week or so to ourselves has just shown me how dangerously in live I am with my girlfriend. Atm she's half asleep, slightly tipsy, and giggling at the cat telling him that "mama will always be there. You just meow and I'll be there" and then turning to the fish to give him attention and when the cat meowed indignantly turned around, with quite the Sass, and said "no it's fish love time"
