Chapter Excerpt: “Beth, what’s wrong?” her eyes flew to the deep blue of her hunter. He was freshly showered, his hair shorter than she remembered him having before she fell asleep. She gave a small yelp and tried to pull on the shirt to cover more of her body. Daryl looked at her in concern when she tried to cover herself and continued to look around confused. “What is it?” He looked around the bedroom, his ears listening for anything besides the still blaring alarm clock. The hunter finally moved around the bed, his hands gentle on her arm as he passed her, and turned off the alarm.
“Where am I?” the blonde whispered, her eyes wide as she took in the soft blue walls, the plush bedspread, and the quiet of the house beyond the open door.
Story summary: This story starts right after Beth is taken from the funeral home. She manages to find the emergency trunk release button to escape her kidnapper and Daryl, of course, comes to her rescue. The two survive and meet with the Claimers before going to Terminus and onwards. Beth survived Grady but she is alone and hurt, walking around the country before finding her way back to Daryl.

Saw a comment on TSDF. Someone was asking about Jesus’ season 9 arc & if what TSDF posted about it was true. Another person said it had to be because TSDF posted it & they’re always accurate. How does anyone not remember the whole ‘Beth was driving’ post they suddenly changed to ‘Emily was driving’? They’ve been the same way with other posts concerning Beth where TSDF said she was spotted after Coda on set & then retracted. I don’t consider them 100% accurate at all.
Hey anon. I agree with you – that site isn’t infallible. They were right about last night from what I’ve heard (didn’t read the spoilers, only know the generals of last night, but it fits). They’re so accurate mostly because early screeners leak information/episode guides to them. In the early stages of season 5 filming, I remember that site being very certain that Glenn would die at Terminus. Season 5, especially in regards to Beth, was very different (x), and it’s frustrating that only Beth fans want to know what happened.
In May 2014 some cast members filmed at two white houses in a suburban Griffin, and over a dozen witnesses reported seeing Emily (x). A limo drove through the street, distracting people who had come to watch filming, as a van pulled up to the steps of the smaller house. It didn’t pull up to the curb – it pulled p into the yard, right up to the porch. A woman with a blonde ponytail and dirty shirt was then ushered inside by two security men and was there for about two hours. This was during filming for 5x02, and none of that episode took place in a suburban area. Emily was in Georgia at the time and tweeted about being at the movies, but she only tweeted that after the woman had left the house. Everyone saw through the ruse. There was a figure in the background of a picture who resembled season 5 Morgan (x).
Filming was so important that two executive producers were there (Gale Anne Hurd and Denise Huth) as well as the costume designer at the time, Eulyn Womble. Finally, a man was photographed walking on to set with Alanna, and he appeared to have a gun on his hip. This is strange because he was an actor based in Georgia who tweeted about being on the show before Gale Anne Hurd said that he wouldn’t (x). You can read about the white houses here: x.
In late December 2014 the site answered an ask about the white houses and completely dismissed the footage, saying that it wasn’t Emily/Beth and was just cut (x). They also said that, “Beth has not filmed since the MSF.” This is an example of their bias against Beth coming out. Beth came back in 5x09, and Emily wasn’t spotted because it was studio filming around August 28th/29th. Coincidentally on the 28th Emily posted a selfie captioned, “Don’t f**k with me zombies,” and she had make-up on her face for Beth’s cheek laceration, except it looked more healed (x) (x) (x). They also said this even though a month ago a woman was photographed on the Alexandria set (x), and she had to be Emily as it wasn’t Alexandra Breckenridge (which she confirmed) and didn’t match any female crew members. Emily/Beth was only photographed twice that whole season: July 15th (the Grady Bethfoot) and then November 17th (the original Bethfoot). Emily posted a picture from her TWD trailer at the same time, and it was of her holding a polaroid. She didn’t have nail polish on, and it conflicts with her filming Bulletproof Picasso. (I think her parts of the video were filmed months earlier as the featured Cadillac was in two other Train videos from the same year, and financially it makes no sense to rent a Cadillac multiple times.) Even if the site didn’t believe Beth would come back in the flesh, they could have at least admitted to a possible flashback or hallucination return.
The post you referenced has to do with the Grady Bethfoot (x) (x) (x). They referenced a “she” driving out of the hospital and later claimed that they meant Emily. That makes no sense. Why bring up that detail about Emily driving herself off-set? It doesn’t make sense and it wouldn’t be relevant; they are clearly referencing something that was seen being filmed. In addition, Emily never drove to the hospital. She was witnessed being driven off-set in a white van, which was the type of vans used to shuttle actors from basecamp to set.

This was around the time that episode 7 was being filmed, before the SDCC break. Earlier that month during 5x06 filming, Emily was reported being on set the same time as Norman and Melissa. Multiple Beth fans, some who didn’t know each other at the time, remembering distinctly reports of Beth driving out of the hospital and her being seen in the backseat of a Grady car (x) (x). At the same time there was also reports that a car was going to crash into a fence, and a tarp was set up so people could not watch certain scenes which were being filmed that night (x) (x). And of course this doesn’t include other Beth rumors/sightings that disappeared/changed like the 800 walkers for the MSF, the fire screen and explosion at Grady and Beth driving a police car in 5x09, later changed to Rick. (That was actually referenced in a meta written before 5x08 aired: x, x). Emily was even confirmed to have been filming past late August, likely through September and October 2014, by a media/podcast site; she had been scheduled to do an interview with them in October but that fell through due to her busy schedule (x).

The site also is heavily biased against Beth and her fans. In the weeks after Coda, they made a few nasty graphics referencing Beth and TD (x) (x). The site doesn’t have to like her, but they should keep that to themselves and be neutral instead of encouraging hate. This also connects to when 7x09 and 7x10 aired, and they kept talking about how hard they were going to be for Bethyl and TD people, implying that something romantic was going to happen with C@ryl. Which didn’t happen.

The Good Stars: 25 - what is it we don’t do well enough
[Daryl has a talk with the group’s prisoner - which doesn’t go well, and any remaining conviction that he doesn’t have to get involved with any of this goes right out the proverbial window.]
“‘cept…” His eyes are unfocusing ever so slightly, his gaze drifting past Daryl into the shadows of the barn, landing on something that isn’t there, and ice creeps up Daryl’s spine, because whatever is coming, it’s not good. Not a story the kid wants to tell. Yet he’s telling it, perhaps because he can’t not. “We’d go out, scavenge. Just the men. One night we found this campsite. A man and his daughters. Teenagers, right? Real young.” He pauses, tongue sweeping across his cracked lips. “Real cute.”
No. Oh, no, no, he doesn’t want to go here. That ice is melting into heat and beginning to smolder red, pulsing at the periphery of his vision. This is not what he signed on for when he took on this job. Not that any of this is anything he ever would have signed on for in his right fucking mind, but if he hears this, if that red haze spreads…

After seeing the unseen still from “Still” that @emilykinneygallery posted a few days ago, I became obsessed with actually find out more about the image. For me, if possible, it became so much better. This image was on an official AMC branded Topps trading card…and the beautiful part…this trading card was titled “Claimed”. As if we needed any more validation that Beth and Daryl claimed each other and that their love blossomed. Much thanks to @emilykinneygalley for providing the still that sent me on my quest to find this official trading card that just made my day!
The Good Stars: 23 - turning with the listless
[As night wears on and Hershel doesn’t return, Daryl and Beth sink further into their respective darknesses. One of them is paralyzed, while the other moves closer to a choice which will change everything.]
She takes a breath, and he feels her trying to center herself. She’s scared now, though he doesn’t know what of, but she’s casting about for a brave face to put on. Which somehow only stokes the fury higher. “I’m not gonna let you pull away.” Pause. “You’ve earned your place.”
Earned. The fuck does that mean? Like he was trying. Like it was something he was meaning to do. All the ugliest images of himself, the worst representations he’s been able to conjure, this pathetic mutt trotting at their heels, tongue lolling hopefully, making himself as appealing as a dog can with its coat patchy with mange and hopping with fleas. Obsequious. Slavish. He’ll do anything they want, accept whatever scraps they care to offer, just so they let him lie within the warmth of their fire and they don’t pelt him with rocks to chase him off.
Leaving his own brother to suffer and die alone because a fucking girl asked him to do something for her and he did.
The Good Stars: 22 - the blood crawls to a slow and stops
[With fewer and fewer reasons to stay, Beth begins to turn inward and away from the world. But while she’s caring less, Daryl is caring more - no matter how hard he tries not to.]
“I’m here, Beth.”
As if that matters. As if that’s even true. Beth listens, not with any great interest. Nothing matters, just as it didn’t before, and in fact with every second it all seems to matter less. Evening is falling, slow and gentle, and she’s sure that if she was outside in it, it would be pretty. The last red-orange stains of sunlight, the fireflies rising out of the grass and lingering in the trees. She would want that, if she still wanted anything. Not to be in this house anymore, which is no longer her home. Under the sky is more a place for her than this ever could be.
Find Daryl, perhaps. Sit with him in silence. He wouldn’t try to make her talk. Wouldn’t talk to her. He would simply be there, and that would be very good.
But she doesn’t want, because she doesn’t want anything anymore.

I would really love to see Daryl and Beth get the opportunity to have some apocalypse happily ever after moments…the simple joys in life that make all the fighting worth it. If people aren’t fighting to have moments like this, why do they even keep breathing…

Follow Up Thoughts on the Dixon Brothers Marathon
Okay, this will be short and sweet today. I just wanted to post some follow-up thoughts on Sunday’s marathon. Just something we talked about in our Facebook group.
This isn’t something that occurred to me when I was looking at the at the lineup of episodes, but while watching it, something jumped out at me.
Right after airing Still, they played 6x06, Always Accountable. Remember on Sunday I talked about how I wasn’t sure why they included that or 7x03, especially since there is no Merle in either one. It really has to be a Beth thing.
Transitioning from Still to the beginning of Always Accountable, the symbolism was driven home to me, powerfully. We had the Beth episode, which ended with Daryl and Beth walking away happily together. The next episode we saw in the marathon showed Daryl lying next to the walker after crashing on his bike.
Remember, this is part of the Bethyl Side-by-Side Theme. You can read the details HERE, but the gist is we often see a male and female lying side-by-side. Sometimes it’s two walkers, sometimes one walker and one human, and sometimes two humans. I think they generally represent the dual deaths of a couple. In most cases, only one member of the couple dies literally, but the other dies emotionally.
We started seeing this pattern in season 4a. The first time was when Karen and David were burned by Carol. In that case, Karen died literally, but Tyreese stated emotionally. We the same thing in Inmates, with Beth and Daryl lying side-by-side. In that case, just like Tyreese and Karen, the woman (Beth) died literally, or so it seems. Daryl’s figurative death, foreshadowed by him lying in the coffin Alone, accompanied it. We’ve also seen other periodic reminders of the of this theme, including in 5B, and also in 6x06 with the two burnt walkers in the greenhouse.
So, we had Still, in which Daryl was clearly happy with Beth, and next thing we see is him lying next to this walker, which represents his death after he lost her. All I’m trying to say is that it’s very obvious now while they included these two episodes, and while they specifically included them after Still, skipping over other episodes like Alone, Coda, and Them. They were trying to show us that the symbolism in these episodes is all about Beth. Daryl’s sadness and his choices in these episodes revolve around what happened with her.
As some of my Facebook peeps pointed out, right after 6x06 we saw The Cell, where the sad song Dwight played for Daryl (not Easy Street; the other one) mirrored the song Daryl watched Beth sing in S3. And Daryl cried a great deal when he heard it.
AMC is trying to tell us something about Daryl’s arc. They’re trying very hard to make us understand that these two episodes, 6x06, and 7x03, were all about Beth for Daryl.
Just wanted to point that out. Anyone else have any insights into the marathon?

Norman is really feeling Beth and Daryl in “Still” today (June 24, 2018) as it aired during the “Dixon Brothers” marathon on AMC. Posting this video on Instagram along with his earlier post on Twitter…my heart is just fluttering and melting all at once if that is even possible!
