more art! for a birthday gift, I was so happy when I saw fire emblem on their wish list. I'm deep in an acrylic paint phase, so I thought trying to emulate a more "classic" painterly style could be neat - and while I hated it through a lot of the process, I'm quite happy with it now :D
I realize I have the chance to properly introduce these two. They are my latest fixation along with the world around them. Meet Iris and Lian!

They both belong to my world called Oceamagna which I'm updating on toyhouse. If you'd like deep lore I suggest checking it out because I'm not going to spend much type explaining all the world building in every post I make with these two and their cast.
A quick summary of the two:
Iris Grandstream: Iris is from a clan of beast tamers that live in the Sunkissed Paradise in a village called Lotara. When Iris was 18 years old, she completed her beast tamer trial and met her soul-bonded companion Flip the salamander (he doesn't have a proper ref yet I'm sorry!!). Iris tries to prove herself by dismantling the river pirates that plague many villages and kingdoms and taming the mighty river king Lián Xiù. She would end up siding with these pirates and falling in love with Lián Xiù.
Lián Xiù: Lián is the great ruler of the Sunkissed Paradise. Rumor has it Lián was there before many kingdoms including Socrela. Some sea pirates say they were around before pirates even began to sail. Lián's name is so feared its said when a lotus flower grows in your waters it means the river dragon and their dastardly pirates will sail by soon. Their origins are a mystery to most.

I experimented with just cleaning up the sketch and jumping straight to coloring instead of doing lineart. I'm searching for some ways of speeding up the process, because I'll have less and less free time in the next semesters and I'd like to make more than one artwork in 2 months.
I love doing lineart and getting lost in detail, so I'm definitely not going to abandon rendered pieces. I love how they present, there's nothing more satisfying than zooming in and looking at the tiny little details. But I need to adjust to my new way of life. 😭
