Riddle era headcanons
Walburga, like her son Sirius, was very rebellious in her youth. Wally’s parents had difficulty suppressing her recalcitrant tendencies and it only got worse once she got to Hogwarts. 100% bullied Muggleborns, probably even tried to hex Tom maybe once or twice before he earned his reputation.
Orion Black and Abraxas Malfoy were the first of Tom Riddle’s peers that he befriended during his first year at Hogwarts. In spite of this, Malfoy was the only one out of the two who joined the Knights of Walpurgis.
There is no doubt in my mind that would lead me to believe that Orion was not a pure-blood supremacist, but I don’t think he was much of an extremist when it came to blood purity. It definitely comes down to how far you are willing to go in order to preserve your own ideals and for Orion that only went as far as to marry your own cousin.
Alphard Black was a metamorphmagus like his grandniece Nymphadora Tonks. Being a metamorphmagi was not widely accepted back in the ‘30s and ‘40s, especially for witches and wizards born into influential pure-blood families so I don’t think Alphard’s parents approved of his abilities and probably implored him not to use them in public.
Cygnus and Druella were a love match which was a rare occurrence for pure-blood marriages at the time.
Tom Riddle’s classmate Rosier Sr. was the father of Evan and Felix Rosier. Rosier Sr. is also the brother of Druella Rosier, which therefore makes him the uncle of her three daughters Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa.
Druella inherited the lighter Rosier traits such as blond hair and blue eyes from her father, while her brother Rosier Sr. got the gene for more darker features from his family like his aunt Vinda Rosier.
Birth order of the Black siblings: Walburga (b. 1925), Alphard (b. 1927) and Cygnus (b. 1929). Canonically, Cygnus was born somewhere around 1938 which would’ve made him thirteen by the time Bellatrix (b. 1951) was born. Most fans have considered this a mathematical error made by J.K. Rowling and so I’m going to put his date of birth around the late 1920s.
Lucretia Black was not a pure-blood supremacist like her family, making her much like her cousin Alphard in that regard. She would later become an ally to the Order of the Phoenix when Voldemort rose into power.
Rodolphus Lestrange is said to have the gift of foresight, which I headcanon he gets from his father Lestrange Sr. Ironically, the raven is the family emblem of the Lestrange family, and in Greek mythology, a raven is the sacred bird of Apollo, God of foresight.
Lestrange Sr. married Tasoula Shafiq, a pure-blood witch from the Shafiq family who are listed in the Sacred Twenty-Eight. The Shafiq family are of Middle Eastern origin which is where I assume Rabastan Lestrange got his name from; the name Rabastan is Arabic for ‘Head of the Serpent’.
Euphemia Potter and Walburga Black were actually very close friends during their time at Hogwarts. The two grew apart especially once they graduated and Euphemia went on to marry Fleamont. Walburga didn’t approve of the match, because even if the Potters were a respectable pure-blood family they were not supremacists.
Orion and Walburga saw their marriage as more of an obligation than a partnership. It was a practical match which neither Orion or Wally were hesitant to accept. The two of them believed that it was their duty to keep their bloodline pure and if that meant marrying each other then so be it.
Due to the House of Black’s constant inbreeding, Orion was born with hemophilia.
my favourite horror movie? oh maybe bellatrix and sirius play fighting like children until she accidentally killed him by pushing him through the veil.

Elena Ferrante not only has female characters so complex that it’s inevitable to adore them despite their countless flaws, terrible decisions, contradictions, and reprehensible actions. Women who, in the hegemonic conception of gender dynamics, would be easily portrayed in a twisted manner, but she sketches them as complete human beings with multiple dimensions and shades of gray, which gives them a humanity that gets under your skin and overwhelms your entire body. She is also a writer whose most terrible male characters are those who could become heroic protagonists in other stories, but she reduces them to pathetic wretches who are nothing more than a shadow of what they always aspired to be, and they don’t necessarily have to physically bully women to show themselves as the worst scum on the planet. And yes, I am talking about Nino Sarratore and my ability to write an essay on why he is the worst man in literature and to what extent Ferrante’s portrayal brilliantly shapes a horrifically terrible character. I have many feelings about the new and final season of this saga, but I will analyze it when I recover emotionally. It’s been four years since I finished the books, and it still gives me chills when I think about everything it made me feel, so I don’t know when I will feel ready to talk about the series.
“Relationships between women don’t have solid rules like those between men,” says the Italian author Elena Ferrante. “I was interested in recounting how a long friendship between two women could endure and survive in spite of good and bad feelings, dependence and rebellion, mutual support and betrayal.”

About writing beautiful dialogues in screenplays
Maybe I’m a little late to say this, but whatever. As an amateur writer I can’t find words to describe how flabbergasted I was when watched SAS: Rogue Heroes for the first time and saw some amazing dialogues. I know the show has it’s flaws, but Paddy quoting T.S Elliot when he saw Augustin Jordan and saying “The eyes of a familiar compound ghost, both intimate and unidentifiable.” was beautiful. Another great dialogue happened later in the same episode (S01Ep.05) when Stirling and Paddy are fighting (It's not a physical fight, I don't know how to explain it properly, but they describe their actions in words as if they were hitting each other) and Stirling says “You need to forget about Eoin McGonigal, that was me pulling a knife” that is peak writing for me. The screenwriter had a vision and was able to put into words the essence of his characters, truly amazing.
There is another scene where Paddy says to Augustin “Loving someone can make you too fond of life which can turn you in to a coward” and a few scenes later Paddy is reminiscing about the past and says to himself “How great life would be to be a coward, to love life that much” but he is referring to the fact that he loved Eoin so much and now I’m crying….
ps: English is not my first language, sorry for any spelling mistakes. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts watching the show.
letters for home in the bag...
it would have been CHEESY as all hell, but- I think I would've liked the group suicide ending a lot better if, instead of standing there slowly waiting to get absorbed, they went out dancing. like they're all upset and scared and as a callback to season 1, Luther puts on some music to try and make them feel better. or, fuck, Viktor starts playing the violin. and they're obviously still upset and crying but they're letting themselves feel a little joy at the end, dancing together with their family. it also would've been a gut-punch bc everyone was waiting for a siblings dance break all season. instead of just standing there going 'I'll miss you guys' until they get absorbed they just...vibe and dance out of existence. I think it would've been more fitting.

you can’t waste your life btw it’s just not something that’s possible to do. your mere existence is already a precious and valuable use of your time. the time you spent becoming who you are now was inherently worthwhile

every time one of you gay people reblog this i have to think about it for the next two weeks
“When I showed [Stephen Sondheim] the finished film, he said, ‘You treated me gently and royally, for which I’m grateful,’” says [Lin-Manuel Miranda]. “And then he wrote me and said, 'But the last phone message to Jon, the language feels a little trite. I don’t feel like I would ever really say that. Can I rewrite it?’ I was like, 'Gosh, a rewrite from Stephen Sondheim — do I accept this?’”
There was only one problem — [Bradley Whitford] had already wrapped his work on the project and was unavailable to re-record it. Sondheim offered to record the new version for Miranda, and it’s his voice that audiences can hear in the final cut.
“It makes me weep to even think about,” gushes Miranda. “Because he was such a mentor to Jon and generations of songwriters. But yes, he rewrote that message and recorded it himself and just sent it to me." (x)
