“Oh, no thanks,” Miles said, waving a little, “I’m not a big candy corn fan. But thanks,” He replied, “The exit?” He asked again, pointing behind him. He wasn’t sure if it was on that direction but he pointed anyway.

Shrugging, Remington capped the tin and set somewhere inside her door. Pointing to the hall across from her office door, she grinned. “Follow me- its quicker this way.”

Louis chuckled, “Fair enough,” He paused and nodded, “Are you not already?” He asked, “With all the murders, I’m surprised you’re not around more often than you are,” He frowned a little, “Though hopefully we will get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later.”

“Right now the best I can do is sift through the mounds of physical evidence- time and time again and hope to god that the more I know the better information I can give you all.” Theories aside, Remington unfortunately did not yet have much to go on. Her nose scrunched a bit. “Doing a full bone analysis tomorrow, now that I have the clearance and permission to do so. Hopefully that might give us more information we missed previously.” She would not get into the disgusting processing of doing so unless asked. “I suppose the more the investigation picks up pace the more I will have to actually be there.”

“Well, that is good. You should be able to have plenty of time to attend the festival. There is some really great food out there. I’m personally a fan of all the sweets,” she added with a bright smile, hoping the other didn’t find the conversation too awkward or anything. “And he can’t avoid me forever. I always bug him to bring Luna to the restaurant more so I can see her. I think I’m almost a stalker at this point.”

“That child wraps people around her little fingers far too quickly.” Remington nodded slowly, thinking back on the influence Luna had on her own decisions in the past. “I’ll be sure to try the sweets, I have a terrible diet this time of year.” And well, pretty much all year.. her metabolism was insanely fast working and she often took advantage of that.

A flush of pink filled her cheeks but Tabitha was still smiling despite her own embarrassment. “Guilty as charged,” she agreed as the tin was presented her eyes watching the doctor with interest and brightening when she saw her smile. The candy corn thrust forward brought on a sudden laugh and she playfully bit at the piece without giving much thought to whether or not it looked silly. It was instinct based on the way she often played with her niece in the same way. Tabitha giggled at herself and brushed back a piece of her hair. “Well I’m really glad to hear that. I just wanted to make sure some of the holiday cheer made it down here to you. I didn’t make enough for the cadavers but I figured they wouldn’t even know what they were missing,” she chirped jokingly.

“I mean, I could drop some pieces into the organ boxes but I am sure even your brother would be mad at me for that one.” She shrugged and smirked at the movements- a familiar instinct. If there was one child in all of Northknot who had the pathologist under control it was the tiny Davidson. Even Rem could admit to it. 

“Well I needed the sugar, got a few more reports before I dare to leave the corpses to their own devices and check out the festival. I hear its in full swing.” The morgue was an eerie place to be around this time of year.

“Well I tried there first and left a message as well and then someone suggested I try here. I guess I’m really going to badger him,” she said, shrugging her shoulders. “Oh, it’s not that important. It can wait. I am sure what you have to speak to him about is far more necessary,” she quickly added, flashing her a smile.  “I hope you aren’t stuck here for the whole time the festival is here. You guys more than anyone deserve to have some fun with everything going on lately.”

“I am sure I will find time. I don’t have anything on the slab docket today so might head out in a bit. Just wanted to finish up some reports.” Remington shrugged. Truly she didn’t need to be here, but it was odd for her, dealing with normal people. By that she meant those who could respond. “I am sure he will get one of the notes. He’s can’t avoid the desk forever, no matter which one he lands at.”

“Well James is my partner so I don’t imagine I’d have much more to say than he would,” Louis pointed out, “But sure, expanding social circles. Sounds great. I could probably use that too to be fair,” He smiled, “A read? What kind of a read?”

“I suppose the easiest way to explain that.... a read on wether or not your insane enough to dumb ass... somehow James does, which in and of itself is a miracle.” At least as far as it went for platonic dealings. Though she had to get that out of her mind right now, baaaad thing to think about for her at this point. “I have this... gut feeling I will be seeing more of the PD than I have in the past.”

“Got a secret admirer or something?” Erik asked, nodding toward the tin that the other had tucked under her arm. He shrugged, “Nah, was just passing through. Thought I’d see if you were going to the festival. Or are you too busy hanging out with the dead down here to hang out with the dead up there?” He asked teasingly.

“Oh so he has jokes...” She snickered and rolled her eyes- popping some more of her treat into gob. Shifting the tin, she motioned to him with a raised brow. “Typically its only the dead who can stand me for long periods of time.” She shrugged and capped the treat turning towards her office and motioning for him to follow for a moment. 

“I don’t have anything to do today here. I was just checking in before I made my way to hell in a hayfield out there.” Her fond smile was likely the only indication she was joking. “As for the candy.... well, it seems every year someone tries to kill everyone in the hospital and police department by giving me a sugar high.”

“Uh… no. Maybe. I think I’m a little lost,” Miles explained, “I was looking for the exit and ended up down here and- what’s that smell?”

“Yeah, just a little.” Remington shifted the tin, intent on explaining how to find the exit when the male changed gears. “Uhh, Caramel corn and candy corn mix... it was on my desk...” Rem paused a moment, studying the male before offering the tin out. “Want some?”

“One comment about the green tights and I’ll have to rip out your tongue I’m afraid. Don’t think I’m joking,” Erik said, “Besides, they’re leggings but no jokes about those either because the results will be the same.”

“See when you bring it up, it makes it so much harder to take that threat seriously.” Pushing her chair back, Remy kept wary eyes on the male, fully aware he could follow through. “Besides. Tights make asses look better and stand out more, and that always brightens my day!” She was a bit too chipper this year, but who could blame her?

“Uh, yeah. Not sure what for though, is this a work thing?” Louis asked but sat down anyway. He was confused by the whole thing but he didn’t mind he guessed. He needed the distraction, “Dinner? Okay, sure. I mean I can’t stay long. I’ve got… plans. In about an hour,” The plans were locking himself up for the full moon but he wasn’t gonna tell the other that.

“Sorry, I know its not the most clear invitation.” She pinched her nose, cursing herself silently. “We can make it quick. I speak to James often enough, but considering how things are playing out- I figured it was best if I expand my social circle to others at the PD as well.” She gave a strained sort of smile. “Makes people easier to work with if I can get a read on them early on.”

Natalie had come by looking for James, wanting to suggest he bring Luna to the restaurant for dinner soon, but she had missed him. She had gotten a pen and piece of paper and was writing a note when she bumped the desk, dropping some of the other pens and pencils. She was picking everything up when the other peered around the corner. “Oh hi. Sorry to bother you. I was just leaving a note for James,” she explained, putting the pens back in their holder before standing up. “Apparently I must make a mess wherever I go.”

She shifted uncomfortably a bit. “Well, that would be better left at the department.” It was true, the detective did have a desk here, mostly for when there were long hours spent pooling resources over forensic evidence, but his primary desk was at the actual station. 

“Or have you left on there already? I can pass along any message you need, I tend to run into him often enough.” She popped some more caramel corn into her mouth before closing the tin and leaving it on a table beside her office door, moving further out and into the alcove the woman was standing by. “I have another report to run over anyway.”

With a heart full of holiday spirit and an urge to share that with others Tabitha had taken to making and delivering sweets to the people at both her workplace and her brothers. This delivery was one of the few out of the way since the Doctor didn’t work in her brothers place of work but rather with him on occasion as crimes dictated but she didn’t mind if it made people smile. Having already done the drop off she’d considered sticking around to see if her work was well received and that was where she made her mistake. Slipping on a wet spot on the floor she crashed into a door and only saved herself from falling completely thanks to her dancers grace. She was meaning to make a hasty retreat but the voice rang out behind her and she cringed.

“Dr. Phinleigh,” Tabitha replied with a sheepish smile as she turned to face them. A brief inclination to lie flickered through her since it wasn’t yet Halloween and she didn’t want to destroy the surprise but it quickly passed. “No! I don’t need anything. I was attempting not to be caught but the wet floor foiled that plan. Happy Halloween!”

Remington almost winced at the story, but ended up smothering laughter. A full step out of her office and another bite of her snack and the doctor pointedly closed the space between them. “This was your handiwork then?” She shruged the tin further up into her arm and raised a brow. 

After a moment a bright smile crossed her face. “Thank you!” She didn’t want to encroach on space so instead she reached out and stuck a candy corn to the woman nose, snickering in amusement. The Davidsons seemed nice to her, it was something she really did appreciate. “I really appreciate this!”

Cold Eyes...

The bike roared beneath her as she navigated it into the downtown, her fingers twitching with the vibrations. She pulled into the spot a tad too fast, causing her wheels to give out a sharp, momentary squeal as she stopped. 

With another few days off, Rem had volunteered to act as a runner, manning booths and stalls when relief was needed. This was the only reason she slogged her exhausted ass out of bed this damn early. 

So she was already annoyed as she pulled off her helmet, hanging it against a handlebar as she cut the engine. A shudder ran down her spine, eyes glancing where it was coming from. Her brow raised, expectance showing. “Astra. Too bad, I was aiming for you.” She snarked the comment out, leaning back and crossing her arms. Remington didn’t hate Astra, nor was she aiming for the woman, but it seemed that theirs was an acquaintance that centered around seemingly harsh quips and heated glares. 

Today; Astra’s stare felt cold as ice.

A casual run in...

Remington only knew of the woman through the words of others, she’d never really had the chance to come face to face, at least not in this setting. The wind had a chill in it, the leaves scattered over the concrete danced around their feet. Remington had donned something a bit warmer, but having been outside since early morning, her face was flushed crimson and her hands were damn near numb. This festival was always her undoing... or perhaps it was the child who cursed her to this existence.

“You’re Elsa Morgan right?” Angling her head to one side, Remington seemed to brighten up- something about the woman seemed almost warm, inviting. She held out an icy hand without thinking, a brief tremor making her digits vibrate for a moment. “Remington. I’ve heard about you through Athelstan...” Despite first appearances, Remy thoroughly enjoyed reading, enhaling novels in the matter of hours or days rather than weeks. She had spent quite a few hours perusing the book store and requesting novels she could not find. While it could not quite be friendship, she got along with the owner fairly well.

Please... sit?

“Ahh detective, I see you got my invitation?” The succubus had her chair tipped back, languidly swinging one leg while the other was propped up against the table. She worked often enough with the PD to know that sometimes the best bait was a plain old, if not slightly creepy, invitation to dinner. The added red, which she imagined he had worked out early enough was simply carefully mixed corn syrup, chocolate syrup and food coloring. A nice touch considering the season. 

Why did she go through the trouble of tempting Louis Byers away from his desk, she assumed he rarely left his job, was definitely a good question. With everything going on, Remington had set her sights on bothering people she had previously left alone. In other words, she was bored, she only dressed up on account of a certain child having insisted she participate in all hallows eve, otherwise she found the holiday most certainly abhorrent and needed something to distract her. “Please, you actually came all this way, sit?” Letting her foot, and her chair drop, she pushed the seat opposite her out, motioning towards it. “I’ll buy dinner.”

A little bit of sugar...

The tin had been left on her desk, a stickie note with her name popped onto the lid. It only took her a moment to get it open, the sweet smell of caramel corn and candy corn wafting through the office, overpowering the lingering scent of chemicals and sanitizer that refused to leave. Plunking the tin under one arm and digging in, the succubus hummed happily with her snack, wiggling in place. God she loved this time of year, the sweets alone made her happy and honestly, whoever kept slipping sugar into her office since the festival started was going to leave her co-workers stressed and questioning just who thought it was a good idea.

The sound of something falling beyond her door had the woman freezing, curiosity building up and forcing her to investigate, the mix still clenched to her side, a few pieces between her fingers that she quickly tossed into her mouth, elbowing the handle to let her out. Like a jack in the box, her head sprung past her doorframe, peering down both sides and freezing when she spotted them.
