Bit of a different post but this is what I look like if any of y’all were curious.
Judith Barsi:Sweet Child O’ Mine
-On July 25th, 1988, Judith Barsi and her mother were murdered by her father in a double murder-suicide. This followed years of horrific abuse at the hands of her father.
-Judith Eva Barsi was born June 6th, 1978 to Jozsef Istvan Barsi and Maria Virovacz. Her mother began guiding her towards a movie career, and she would often teach her about posture and poise. Her career as a child star began at the young age of five, when she was spotted in an ice skating rink. Her first role was in the film Fatal Vision, and she played Kimberley Mcdonald. She starred in as many as 72 commercials during her life. She is most famously known as the voice of Ducky in the film The Land Before Time. Her father, Jozsef, was described as a hard drinker with a violent temper. Following the family’s move into a 3 bedroom house in the West Hills area of Hollywood in 1985, the cracks began to show. Judith’s mother filed a police report in 1986, accusing him of threatening to kill her, choking her, and hitting her in the face. Unfortunately, due to a lack of physical injuries, the report was dropped. This would prove to be a microcosmic example of the horrors to come. Before Judith left to film Jaws:The Revenge, Jozsef threatened her with a knife, saying “If you decide not to come back, I will cut your throat.” In addition, he said “Remember what I told you before you left.” When Judith returned, the abuse continued. On one occasion, Maria bought Judith a kite, which Barsi broke into pieces after calling her a “spoilt brat”. She was under so much stress that she plucked out her eyebrows and her cat’s whiskers. Following the incident with the police report, Jozsef allegedly threw pots and pans at Judith, causing a nosebleed. All this abuse culminated on July 25th, 1988, when Jozsef shot Judith and Maria before turning the gun himself.

This case bothers me, and I was hesitant to cover it. However, I feel it needs to be discussed, as it shines a light on the horrors of child abuse and the necessity of CPS and social services. May Judith and her mother rest in peace.
Just A Heads Up. Seriously.
The next case I'm going to cover is the darkest and most disturbing I've covered thus far. If you are sensitive to subjects like child abuse and the murder of children, I advise that you sit out my next post. If you're comfortable, I hope you find the post informative.

An excerpt of an interview with Charles Manson, the leader of the Manson Family. He is being interviewed by Geraldo Rivera.
Today marks the 28th anniversary of the Waco siege. I’m deeply fascinated by True Crime, and the Waco siege is a story that both infuriates and fascinates me. Watching videos of Mount Carmel burning is a haunting experience, and it’s one I doubt I’ll ever forget. I struggle to comprehend how horrifying it must’ve been to see it in person. I’m of the opinion that neither side was in the right here, and both sides made horrendous mistakes. I feel it would be remiss of me to not mention the Oklahoma City Bombing, because I feel I need to make a point. Tragedy doesn’t beget tragedy. The events at Waco, as tragic as they were, do not justify violence. Timothy Mcveigh was a radicalized monster who believed in blood for blood. With this being said, I hope that we can all remember Waco for the human tragedy it was.
James Oliver Huberty:Massacre in San Ysidro
-On July 18th, 1984, James Huberty opened fire on a Mcdonald’s in San Ysidro, California, killing 21 before being killed by a Police sniper.
-James Oliver Huberty was born October 11th, 1942, in Canton, Ohio to devoutly religious parents Earl Vincent and Icle Evalone Huberty. Huberty contracted polio at age three, which lead to him wearing steel and leather braces. Although he made a full recovery, he was afflicted with a mild limp for the remainder of his life. In 1950, Huberty’s father moved to a farm in Mount Eaton. Icle refused to move and ultimately abandoned the family. His father recalled finding him slumped against the chicken coop, crying. Huberty was described as a sullen child, and his primary interest was target practice. Due to his limp, religious beliefs, and poor social skills, Huberty was often bullied in school. Huberty married his wife Etna Markland in 1965, and the couple had two children, Zeila and Cassandra. Huberty was described as sullen, ill-tempered, and paranoid by neighbors and coworkers. A conspiratorial and paranoid individual, Huberty believed that the US Government, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter were conspiring against him. Huberty had large caches of non-perishable foods and guns in his home due to a belief that the Soviets would become more aggressive. Huberty was fired several times, and his wife said he began hearing voices during this time. Huberty once threatened to commit suicide, but was succesfully talked out of it by his wife. The family also relocated several times, once to Tijuana, once to Ohio, before finally settling in San Ysidro.
-Huberty’s motive remains unclear, however, the most likely motive is a final cry for help. Three days before the shooting, Huberty told his wife he believed he had a mental problem. On the morning of the 17th, he called a mental health clinic in San Diego, but due to his calm demeanor and lack of previous hospitalizations for mental health issues, his case was deemed non-crisis and was set to be handled in 48 hours. The day of the shooting began with the Huberty family visiting the San Diego Zoo. During their visit, Huberty told his wife that he believed his life was effectively over. While referring to the phone call to the clinic, Huberty said “Well, society had their chance.” Shortly after returning home, Huberty changed into a maroon t-shirt and green slacks. Before leaving, Huberty is alleged to have said to his wife “I’m going hunting. Hunting for humans.” when asked where he was going. Tragically, his final words to his eldest daughter, Zeila, were “Goodbye. I won’t be back.” Huberty then drove to the Mcdonald’s on San Ysidro Boulevard.
-The shooting began at approximately 3:56 PM when Huberty, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, an Uzi, and a 12-gauge shotgun, approached 16 year old employee John Arnold. Initially, Huberty’s gun didn't fire, which lead to Huberty shooting Neva Caine with his Uzi after she tried to approach Arnold. After shooting Caine, Huberty told everyone in the restaurant to get on the ground. Huberty referred to everyone in the restaurant as “dirty swine, Vietnam assholes” and claimed he’d “killed a thousand” and intended to “Kill a thousand more.” Huberty continued shooting indiscriminately, both inside and outside the restaurant. Huberty at one point adjusted a nearby radio, turning on music and shooting while dancing to the music. Police arrived on scene 10 minutes after the initial call was made. A lockdown was deployed for an area spanning six blocks from the site of the shooting. The authorization to kill the perpetrator was given at 5:05 PM. This opportunity wouldn’t come until 5:17 PM, when Huberty walked close to the front door, giving police sniper Charles Foster the shot he needed. The shot that killed Huberty entered his chest, severed the aorta just beneath his heart, and exited through his spine. All in all, the massacre lasted 77 minutes, with Huberty firing as many as 257 rounds.

Patrick Sherrill:Going Postal
-On August 20th, 1986, Patrick Sherrill opened fire on the Edmond Post Office in Edmond, Oklahoma, killing 14 before taking his own life.
-Patrick Henry Sherrill was born November 13th, 1941, in Watonga, Oklahoma. Previous to his career in the Postal Service, Sherrill had served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a member of a National Guard pistol team. Interestingly, and perhaps ominously, Sherrill was considered a sharpshooter.
-Sherrill’s motive for committing the shooting was a combination of intense anger and fear of losing his job. His position as a Relief Carrier meant he lacked the job security of other positions, which contributed to his stressed, angry mental state. Sherrill harbored a deep anger towards his supervisors, who he saw as unfair and cruel. The environment he worked in was described as intensely stressful by himself and others. His supervisors would often reprimand him for innocuous or minor things, and this anger boiled over into the shooting. The day before the shooting, Sherrill was reprimanded for his behavior, and it is believed that this was the final straw that pushed him over the edge. The shooting began around 7 am, when Sherrill, armed with two 1911s and a Ruger pistol, entered the Edmond post office. Sherrill moved deliberately through the building, shooting indiscriminately, only sparing one person, Tracy Sanchez. After killing 14 people, Sherrill doubled back until he was in front of the lobby before taking his own life.
-This shooting lead to the phrase “Going Postal” being coined. Going Postal refers to committing mass murder at one’s workplace. The Edmond shooting is believed to have inspired other, similar shootings, such as the Royal Oak shooting in 1991 and the Xerox Shooting in 1999.

The Manson Family: Love and Terror in Hollywood
-On August 9th, 1969, Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Steven Parent, Abigail Folger and Voytek Frykowski were viciously murdered at 10050 Cielo Drive in Los Angeles, California. The following night, Rosemary and Leno Labianca were murdered in similar fashion. The words “Death To Pigs” and “Rise” were found written in Leno’s blood on the walls and “Healter Skelter” was scrawled on the refrigerator, also in blood. These murders were committed by Susan Atkins, Charles “Tex” Watson, Leslie Van Houten, and Patricia Krenwinkel at the behest of their leader, Charles Manson, in order to spark a violent race war he referred to as Helter Skelter, a name he took from a Beatles song released the previous year. Manson interpreted the song as being about an impending, apocalyptic race war that he and his followers would start and win. Ominously, Tex is reported to have said “I’m the devil and I’m here to do the devil’s business” when asked by Frykowski who he was.
-What would become The Manson Family began in 1967 when Charles Manson, a lifelong convict born on November 12th, 1934, to Kathleen Manson Bower-Cavender, (who was then only 16 years old), was released from Prison. He started taking in drifters in San Francisco, mostly hippies and runaways that he charmed with his music and connection to popular hippie band The Beach Boys. After gathering a small group of followers and establishing himself as a fringe hippie icon, Manson moved his followers to Spahn Ranch in August 1968 following their eviction from the home of Beach Boys member Dennis Wilson. It is around this time that Charles Watson, later known simply as Tex, joined the family after meeting Manson at the home of famed Beach Boys member Dennis Wilson. In November of 1968, Manson’s remarks about increasing racial tensions in America turned into an apocalyptic race war known as Helter Skelter. Manson then moved the group into two little used ranches in Death Valley: Myers and Barker. It was there that Manson’s vision of the race war would be completed. In July of 1969, Manson sent Susan Atkins, Mary Brunner, and Bobby Beausoleil to the home of Gary Allen Hinman, a friend of the group and someone Manson believed to be wealthy. This visit was meant persuade Hinman to join the Family and turn over his assets to them. The group held Hinman hostage for two days, and during this time Manson slashed Hinman’s ear with a sword. Following this, Bobby stabbed Hinman to death, allegedly under orders from Manson. “Political Piggy” was written in blood on the wall. Following the arrest of Beausoleil, Manson is alleged to have said to his followers “Now is the time for Helter Skelter.” On August 9th, 1969, Manson ordered Tex to bring Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel to the home of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate. Upon arriving, the group brutally murdered all five people staying at the home, most infamously Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant at the time. Susan wrote Pig in Tate’s blood on the front door as they left. The following night Manson again ordered Family members to kill, this time accompanying them and targeting Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. According to Susan’s testimony, Manson tied up Rosemary and Leno before Tex, Leslie Van Houten, and Patricia Krenwinkel entered the home. Watson, Krenwinkel, and Van Houten all stabbed Rosemary after Leno was killed by Tex using a Bayonet. Manson was arrested on August 16th, 1969 on suspicion of car theft and was later found guilty of murder in 1971. Susan Atkins was arrested for the murder of Gary Hinman in October of 1969. She would later brag about the Tate-Labianca murders, leading to the convictions of other family members, namely Tex in November of 1969. Their original sentence was death but following the abolishment of the death penalty in California in 1972, their sentences were changed to life in prison. Manson would ultimately die in prison in 2017, the same fate having befallen Atkins in 2009.

The Narcosatanists: Horror in Matamoros -In April of 1989, 15 mutilated corpses were dug up in Matamoros Mexico. Among these bodies was Mark Kilroy, a Pre-Med student whose brain was removed. A cauldron containing human body parts and the brain of Mark Kilroy was discovered shortly after. -These murders were committed by the Narcosatanists cult, a black magic human sacrifice drug cult ran by Adolfo Constanzo and Sara Aldrete. As many as 23 victims are tied to the Narcosatanists. The Narcosatanists believed in Palo Mayombe, a belief system steeped in Mexican folklore. Palo Mayombe promises power to those who sacrifice humans and animals, and this belief led Adolfo Constanzo to commit gruesome, ritualistic murders. Pictured: Adolfo Constanzo, Sara Aldrete and Mark Kilroy.
