no yeah wc is the same way for me now. i still adore old (and new) animations for their creativity, i still love rewrite aus like better bones, and i even like the new graphic novel adaptation of tpb. clangen is fun to play every once in a while too. i also like looking at the official art in other countries like china!

but WOW reading dotc and avos made me so mad i can barely (re)read official books anymore lol. like i do want to read tbc eventually but with how bad those arcs are i just put it off forever tbh

YEAHHHHH like i keep wanting to read them just bc i wanna join in on my mutuals discussions properly but like. anytime i see a passage im just like “this is dogwater” and i prioritize a book that actually looks good.

i dont think i’ll ever stop engaging with fanworks though. as many gripes as i have with the unchallenged fandom misogyny, when it comes to fanfiction… yeah there’s a ton of good shit out there. i get more excited for better bones than i do anything in canon. clangens fun to play with and i ADORE clangen comics inspired from certain playthroughs, and if i had the patience then id absolutely try one out. (shoutout to fallenclan, vaporclan, vespidclan, and ranchclan in particular…. those are my current faves atm)

i mentioned that newer maps don’t really interest me, but that’s definitely not true for comics. follow your heart, the dog star, and the exiled are all so good so far. plus barrenclan, which im reading as it updates on comicfury for now bc im Intimidated.

this sentiment has been repeated countless times, but we’ve made this world our own, i think. i think i’d rather focus on that than the meanspirited mess that is canon.

Shut up bc im thinking about Tallstar's Revenge and how wide and wondrous Windclan feels bc Talltail desperately wants to be a moor runner but also desperately wants some form of relationship to his dad AT ALL. Im thinking about how confined and restricting Windclan feels after sandgorse's death and how Talltail's jaded attitude completely reshapes everything around him im thinking about how when he finally leaves after its been built up to for AGES he meets Jake which is such a breath of fresh air for both of them until he goes to kill his father's murderer and just... doesnt. Hes told the truth about Sandgorse's death and he doesnt get the revenge he abandoned his home for, but its not triumphant. Hes now at a standstill. Hes still bitter and angry and grieving and the only difference is now he has to turn back without the satisfaction. And he returns home and begs Jake to come with him, but he doesnt, because thats not who he is. Im thinking about how Talltail returns to Windclan and misses it so much, and the air is sweet and the moor is open and wide but he has still lost so much. Hes lost Sandgorse, Jake, the honour he thought he'd bring his father. But hes a warrior, he'll always be a warrior

my opinion is crowfeather should've been killed by breezepelt in the last hope as a parallel to the scene where hollyleaf threatens leafpool's life but can't actually go through with it and immediately, despite everything crowfeather put him through, he's filled with a sick sense of remorse and disgust and shame and realizes this didn't make him happy and crowfeather's trial becomes breezepelt's trial (like it SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ALONG)

New vs. Old Spottedleaf, roughly 6 years apart. My style has definitely changed since then ... it's only messier because I have less time than ever to dedicate to drawing canon characters! But I want to try and redo all the ones I've done so far, at least. Feel free to send in requests for your favorites if you want.

With that said, I've never pictured Spottedleaf as a tortoiseshell. A lot of these depictions are based off the image I initially saw in my mind when I read the series, so may not be entirely compliant.
