“babe, i’m convinced that i no longer know how to write songs. i’ve spent all day trying to write one song and all i have is two lines. i give up,” killian sighed dramatically as his girlfriend entered their bedroom.
flopping onto the bed beside him, nintendo switch in hand (because my goodness did she love muggle gaming technology), she pressed a gentle kiss to the top of his head. “you haven’t lost your songwriting ability. but you did lose your coffee this morning. found your still full mug in the microwave.” her tone made it clear she suspected one had something to do with the other.
settling into her seat in the private box, lilith handed over half of the collected refreshments to her companion. “i didn’t miss anything good, did i?” she’d done her best to make it back to the box before the match had started, but had heard the whistle that marked the start just as she’d hit the stairs. “i must’ve gotten at least one of everything!”
it was always a yes whenever she was asked to partake in the ‘day with a fan’ variety of contests. lilith was fully aware of how lucky she’d been to receive such constant success, her first single being an overnight hit straight out of hogwarts only the beginning of what would be an upward streak. “hi, you must be petra,” she greeted her guest cheerfully as she opened the door and extended a hand. “come on in and make yourself comfortable!”
it had been brighter today than most as of late, summer still fighting the creeping chill of overcast autumn. as it was, lilith had elected to spend the day inside, not wanting to risk the painful burn of the sun’s rays. it made a night out that much more necessary, and she knew just the place to go. slipping into the bar, she was quick to take a seat and wave down the bartender. “hey, louis, surprise me with something heavy? i wanna feel fuzzy by the time i leave.”
she was in the process of recording her latest album, with the goal of a mid-november release, and had called on a friend to lay down some backing vocals. lying flat on the recording studio floor, her eyes popped open as she heard the door open. “either you’re early, or i’ve lost all concept of time.” it was definitely the latter, a fact confirmed with one glance at her phone. shitting into a sitting position, lilith couldn’t help giggling at herself. “you know, this isn’t even the first time i’ve been caught like this.” not her fault the floor was so unreasonably comfortable.
❛❛ lilith varney . ❜❜ ― 🥀 ― the shadow of the ripper always looming over your family legacy no matter how you run from it, a song in your heart far lighter than the thoughts clouding your mind, the drive to do what is right rather than what is easy no matter the cost to yourself, a desire to be loved truly and entirely in spite of the monster some would perceive you to be, and the constant humming of tunes as they’re put to paper in preparation of your next album.

background
born to thomas (a vampire) and cordelia (a witch) varney, lilith is an only child. she grew up learning the importance of being careful with her vampire half. even in the wizarding world, as magical as it was, there were still many who were prejudiced against their kind. while perfectly capable of eating normal food, she does still need a regular intake of blood. that said, she was raised to feed on animals or from a blood bag. only in cases of extreme emergency and with willing consent will she feed on other people.
she was around nine years old when her parents were killed. the trio were on a family vacation to the united states when they accidentally attracted the attention of vampire hunters. it seemed their surname had been recognized and marked them as a threat. (even though they most certainly were not a threat.) to this day, lilith has no recollection of how she survived the attack that claimed her parents, and even the first few months following their deaths remains a blur.
she went to live with her paternal grandparents, markus and antoinette “toni” varney. they are her everything. about six months after moving in with them, lilith mustered the courage to ask why the hunters had attacked them. it was then she learned the truth of her family’s legacy and vowed to do everything she could to repair the age old damage to their name. her ancestor, you see, one herbert varney, had also gone by another name. jack the ripper. (while not explicitly stated, this is heavily implied and i’ve decided to run with it.)
school was difficult at first. no one could understand how a vampire had made it into hufflepuff. but as she grew more comfortable with herself and made friends, the hat’s reasoning became clear. lilith was one of the most genuinely kind people you could wish to befriend. it seemed fangs didn’t make one a monster after all. it just made halloween a bit more fun.
when it came to life after hogwarts, music was the only plan she’d ever had. songwriting came easy to lilith, and she had a natural talent for writing and performing. she loved the attention, sure, but more than that, she loved the way her music career provided her with a platform she could use to better the view of both vampires and mental health. having been diagnosed with adhd, ptsd, depression, and anxiety, it was always important to her that she use her voice to bring light to how these affected her. she didn’t ever want anyone to feel alone the way she sometimes did. she is definitely aa big fan of normalizing the conversation around mental health and seeking out help for whatever you may be going through.
That’s all I’ve got for now, but feel free to come at me with any questions you might have or to plot.
