âYou were in a car crash?â Kate looked the man up and down as if inspecting for evidence, before realising that if there were any blatant proof of his injuries, he wouldnât exactly be walking around. âIt wasnât very serious, I supposeâŚ.?â If his greatest concern was that the other driver had been forced to pay for the damages, then surely it couldnât have been drastic?
She paused, thinking a moment before giving voice to the question which was burning on her tongue, âDo IâŚ..do I make youâ do I make you feel nervous?â
âA few months ago,â Jon confirmed, lips turning downward in a frown as he recalled the death of his beloved car.  âIt was totalled.  Better the car than my passenger though.â  Heâd nearly caught himself saying âgirlfriendâ and while that was rather much the truth, for some reason he didnât feel like opening up that conversation quite yet.Â
Do I make you feel nervous?  Jon usually thought he was decent at shielding his nerves, but not around Kate, and deep down he thought he knew the reason for it.  Part of him still denied what he knew to be true.  Fear was not the right word, because he knew no proper fear of the woman before him, but - âYes,â he found himself saying honestly.  âthough I canât say why.âÂ
