She was paired with another woman, Catherine whose first partner had won already, too. They had talked a little, although Lennard didn’t like him very much. Lennard pulled his sweater sleeve over his hand awkwardly, not letting go of Shira’s hand. In the simulation, the siren was just ringing. She ran from the Cornocopia instantly.

DAY ONE

Shira’s heart rate had been especially bad this year. The little monitor next to her comatoes body was beeping very, very fast. If only he could read her thoughts. All he had were those simulation cameras that showed him and everyone watching what she was doing, but that’s it. So far, Shira had just ran from the Blood bath, but by now, she was just wantering through the jungle, hugging herself, crying. Why did she have to do this test? Why? Anger rushed through Lennard’s veins and he kicked one of the cabinets next to him before he threw himself on her, trying to sleep for a while. This was going on for two hours or three, they were automatically ommitting the parts deemed unwatchable for the stream, so he might as well just not give a fuck. Nothing he could do here, anyway.

He was awakened by her heart rate monitor. Shira’s body underneath him was shaking and he rushed towards the monitor. He would kill the bastard that hurt her, he would hurt them a thousand times more --!! rushed through him, but he let go of his iron grip when he saw Shira herself, frothing at the mouth, clutching her throat, her stomach, convulsing horribly. Around her a bunch of red berries. The camera zoomed in on her dieing face. Her eyes were red and puffy, but her gaze already completely without life, even if her body was still fighting for it. Her lips were coloured the red of the berries. “Someone poisoned her” a thought tried to fight, but Lennard knew what he was seeing. Her fingers were coloured red, too.

She didn’t know. She didn’t know now she’d have to go through it again and again, until she won. Or had 10 Kills by the time the tenth, the fifteenth, the twentiest round came... and Shira had only one kill so far.

Her body was shaking less now, on the simulation chair she had already stopped. Lennard watched her, a few tears falling through his lashes. until her face was projected on the Fallen Tributes Screen. Then he smashed the screen.

YEAR SIX: Alphonse and Nicholas

His hands were shaking terribly. He’d have to keep a straight face. He’d be able to do that. Just one run, just one run. One run and he’d be through.

It was coming sooner or later and finally, finally he had managed to hack into the deepest bits of data this hellhole had on its servers. Simulation Therapy, hacked. That had been the easy part. The hard part had been writing the programm that would get him out of here. Months he had done nothing but write code that would set itself in motion as soon as Al was sent into Simulation Therapy. Code that stopped the partial memory erasure for the duration of the simulation. Code that would declare him victor.

Al looked to his right, where Nicholas stood in his pod, thinking as quick and as much as he could. Horrible guilt almost overwhelmed Alphonse for choosing himself the victor over his best friend. But he’d have to be first, the code was written specifically for him, it had to be so subtle. If anything happened, if they’d notice... this was just a simulation, of course, but if this was what they could create, Alphonse didn’t want to know what else there was.

The floor under their feet shook and the pods moved upwards. It was starting. Al turned right to Nick, who was looking at him. Al’s lips trembled. Pressing both of his hands, Alphonse yelled over “Soon!”

THE BLOODBATH All these people. Alphonse could hardly believe his eyes. Most of those were faces he wasn’t able to recognize because he had never seen them, even though he had read their names. “William” sprung to his mind. Or “Kitty”. Looking around, he could see Nick point towards their right. “There they are. Al, look, there are Ed and Jen.” He saw them too, both looking very determined. The sun was blinding. “I’ll go for the cornocopia.”, Nick said and Al wanted to reply with a “No!”, but his words were silenced by the horn blaring. Stepping off his pod, Al wanted to grab Nick, but he had bolted straight for the large supply, grabbing a basket of bread the same time another woman had - and punching her square in the face. Al looked around, Jen was grabbing supplies next to three others and Edward wasn’t to be seen anymore. Nick was running towards him now, again, the woman with the dark brown hair still behind him, bleeding a lot from her nose, when something hit him in his side. Al fell, only to stumble back onto his feet and pull out the needle-looking weapon someone had thrown at him. Nick’s run had fastened and soon he had almost arrived, slowing down, only for Al to start running, too. Nick caught up with him in mere seconds. “You’re bleeding! Who threw that?!”, he hissed, but Al couldn’t answer while they ran as far as they could, until they saw some sort of cave-like structure and crawled into the dim darkness.

As the tributes stand on their podiums, the horn sounds. Edward runs away from the Cornucopia. Albus runs away with a lighter and some rope. Amean grabs a backpack and retreats. Sunshine runs away from the Cornucopia. Kenneth, Killah, Jennifer, and Shoshanna share everything they gathered before running. Hope runs away from the Cornucopia. Kitty runs away from the Cornucopia. William runs away from the Cornucopia. Clay finds a canteen full of water. Shira runs away from the Cornucopia. Nicholas breaks Catherine's nose for a basket of bread. Ava runs away from the Cornucopia. Theresa strangles Kilian after engaging in a fist fight. Alice runs away from the Cornucopia. Oliver breaks Kenneth's nose for a basket of bread. Sidjay takes a sickle from inside the cornucopia. Rajat runs away from the Cornucopia. Alphonse runs away from the Cornucopia.

DAY ONE

Kitty camouflauges herself in the bushes. William practices his archery. Sunshine makes a slingshot. Shoshanna kills Hope with a hatchet. Kenneth injures himself. Alice constructs a shack. Nicholas attacks Rajat, but he manages to escape. Albus constructs a shack. Kenneth tends to Oliver's wounds. Sidjay attacks Clay, but he manages to escape. Edward and Theresa work together for the day. Jennifer tries to sleep through the entire day. Killah hunts for other tributes. Shira cannot handle the circumstances and commits suicide. Catherine tends to Alphonse's wounds. Ava steals from Amean while he isn't looking.

DAY TWO

Edward receives fresh food from an unknown sponsor. Kenneth pushes Kenneth off a cliff during a knife fight. Ava hunts for other tributes. Oliver, Amean, Nicholas, Sidjay, and Sunshine hunt for other tributes. Clay tends to Jennifer's wounds. Kitty picks flowers. Killah severely injures Catherine and leaves her to die. Alice, William, and Alphonse successfully ambush and kill Rajat, Shoshanna, and Albus. Theresa injures herself.

Amean convinces Sunshine to snuggle with him. 

DAY THREE

Nicholas, Kitty, and Sidjay hunt for other tributes. William injures himself. Sunshine throws a knife into Oliver's chest. Ava steals from Alice while he isn't looking. Amean and Edward split up to search for resources. Kenneth and Jennifer split up to search for resources. Clay receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor. Alphonse scares Theresa off.

The cornucopia is replenished with food, supplies, weapons, and memoirs from the tributes' families. Kenneth, Edward, Alphonse, and Theresa team up to grab food, supplies, weapons, and memoirs. Clay accidently steps on a landmine. Ava decides not to go to The Feast. Sidjay kills Kitty with a hatchet. Amean decides not to go to The Feast. 

DAY 5

Sidjay makes a wooden spear. Amean hunts for other tributes. Kenneth searches for a water source. Ava tries to spear fish with a trident. Alphonse and Theresa track down and kill Edward.
