   ❛   FLATTERED ?? SO THERE IS a heart under all those robes !  ❜   feigned shock drips with humored words, grin ever - present on his face once leather - clad fingers cease their curious mischief … thoroughly finished by the time the dottore faces him.  ❛   i do take great pride in what little praise you offer me.  ❜  scarred lips pull into half a smile, head canted.

quick to acknowledge their gaze on him, though leisurely in returning his ; gold roams the expanse of the clinic before lazily settling on the other  . ❛   luckily for both of us, i seem to have a short reprieve in my duties.  ❜  both are privy to the grisly & tiresome nature that the word symbolizes, ezio reminds himself as he follows francis’s motions without hesitation.  ❛   therefore, i am in no rush. though, it does make me think : we have not ventured into venezia together as of yet, have we ?  ❜

a low laugh shakes their shoulders, brow drawn by such preposterous speak. digits flit across the heavy fabric obscuring their chest — across their heart, as if shocked by the phenomena themselves. “ have i become so transparent? ” tongue clicks as though beside themselves, hairs swaying at the edge of their visage while they uncork the bottle and douse mottled fabric.

“ do you? good. ” breach in routine was always helpful, yes — and especially so for ezio, and his particular ... dealings. in a beckon for his hand, they take leisure in cleaning away lingering red, sure motions perhaps a bit prolonged. “ we — haven’t, have we? ” pause for a fond curl of their lip has moss finally seeking gold. “ well, where would you like to go? i have been told many times i should frequent the market at piazza san marco. but ... is that too open? ”

  ❛   AH, IT COULD BE. these days, the guards are a little meaner, no ?   ❜   a rich laugh spills into the air, mischief glimmer in both eyes & smile. auditore : a name both loved & hated in equal parts … or so he likes to think. this touch is a welcome one, tenseness in broad shoulders easing away, just as the blood does. 

 ❛   grazie, dottore, you have my most sincere thanks.  ❜   soundless steps betray stature ; curious eyes take in the familiarity of the clinic. ❛   i must say, you’ve never failed to disappoint me.  ❜  new herbs, & more bottles than last time … to which ezio takes upon himself to rearrange ever - so - slightly behind their back. 

“ that --- they are. ” comes a laugh, just bitter by the suggestion’s haunting validity. but that was a conversation for another time --- they could ruminate the city’s decline later. now, they rifle through a cabinet. the gentle clatter of glass - on - glass easily masks what sound the assassin’s mischief may have produced.

“ certo. ( of course. ) it is my job to be thorough, but i am flattered nonetheless. ” in a sway of fabric they turn ‘round, a simple astringent in - hand. and then comes the briefest, fleeting pause --- simply to absorb the man stood in the middle of what may as well be their dwelling, innocently observing wares. an easy gesture directs him to the low counter in the true heart of the room, to which they drift. “ would you like to sit a while or must you go today? ”

“ your wrist, auditore? are you sure it isn’t something else? ” a bemused scoff is inevitable, green eyes brightening as the dottore steps forward from the clinic’s shadowy depth. weight rests heavily ‘pon the counter that separates them, spindly leather - clad fingers taking delicate hold of those bloodied. there, they ghost across, a kerchief drawn from one pocket to clear dappled red.

“ don’t be foolish, you know i do. dai, ( come on, ) ”   they part all too easily, leaving him to force the nearby door ajar --- an invitation in. the rattle of buckles chases after while francis recedes to a cabinet full of tinctured bottles.
