❝Hey, punk, what do I have to do to get you to move away from the van? Kinda got work to do.❞
{ ♫ } ❝I dunno, man. Does said first impression involve me being an extremely sexy lady, with a great ass, legs for miles, and charisma to spare? If not, then that would be a definite no.❞
❝Sounds like I was right on the money, then.❞
Virgil flashed her a lop-sided grin and winked at her in a way which his brother would most certainly make fun of him for if he were here - but Turk wasn't here, thank God.
❝I'm Virgil Malloy and I'd love to buy the most stunning girl in the room a drink.❞
{ ♠ } ❝——- I'm not old. Do I really look old?❞
❝Dunno, man, ever thought of gettin' those roots touched up?❞
❝Might do ya a world of good.❞
{ ♠ } ❝Is there maybe a chance you two could stop fighting for… five minutes? I don’t feel like that’s asking too much.❞
❝Did we miss somethin'?❞
❝Or we just givin' you a headache, old man?❞
”Oh, yes. My life has been simply tragic.” She laughs, shrugging slightly. ”I don’t know if I’m cheerful. I’ve been described as ‘pleasant’ plenty of times, however.” A nod at his introduction, and she’ll offer one in return. ”My name is Marjorie Thomas. Pleased to meet you.”
❝Not cheerful but pleasant? Aren't we splittin' hairs a little now? Or am I just too simple to know the difference?❞
He shook his head and a short, quiet laugh escaped him.
❝Nah, it's me who's pleased. Maybe I can buy you a drink.❞
“It depends on what your first impression was, I’d reckon.”
❝I think cheerful might be the word I'm looking for. Or is that smile hiding a boatload of inner pain?❞
Virgil lifted a hand to rub at the back of his neck with an embarrassed chuckle.
❝Sorry. I'm not as funny as I think I am sometimes. Name's Virgil Malloy.❞
❝So, I gotta know. Is my first impression of you right or not?❞
❝Hey, punk, what do I have to do to get you to move away from the van? Kinda got work to do.❞
{ ≪- ♠ -≫ } "Why doesn’t that surprise me?" Of course she was more than aware that the definition was far from the conventional one most people used, but there were plenty of things in Marielle’s life that weren’t exactly ordinary, such as her choice of… job.
“Ha. You?" A minor fit of laughter managed to escape from her. "Please, enlighten me because quite frankly, I don’t see it—Mr. Nineteen-Twenties."
❝Nineteen-Twenties? Please.❞
If only she knew just how modern he actually was. (Just modern enough to really bother his family back in Salt Lake City -- or maybe a little more than just.)
❝I could tell you stories 'bout shit I've done that you wouldn't believe. And I've never regretted a damn second of it. So if you say it's all about living without regrets, sorry to burst your bubble, but I might even have you beat --
--but let me guess... you don't buy it, right?❞
{ ≪- ♠ -≫ } "Doll? Seriously?" Marie wasn’t sure whether she should even try and tell him to drop that outdated word as well, or allow it; however, she decided on the latter, for the time being at least.
"Yes, I would use that word and here’s why: perfection isn’t about makin’ no mistakes. It’s about livin’ without regrets."
❝Yeah, seriously. Got a problem?❞
What she said next sounded nothing less than ludicrous, but Turk somehow managed to keep a straight face.
❝That's the definition? Son of a bitch, I've been usin' it wrong all this time.❞
He shook his head.
❝In that case, you're in the presence of a fellow--❞ Well, shit. ❝--perfect... person. Congrats.❞
{ ≪- ♠ -≫ } "Excuse me?" Oh, a nerve was hit with that one, even if she didn’t completely believe that she was perfect herself.
“First off, can the sweetheart. Second….” Pause was given as eyes gave him a once over. “Well, compared to some people, yeah. I am.”
Turk had to laugh, not only because the chances of him 'canning the sweetheart were slim to absolutely none.
❝Perfect? You'd actually use that word. Really. Now, this I gotta hear. C'mon, doll.❞
{ ≪- ♠ -≫ } "Some people…." Marie isn’t pleased. Not in the slightest, so she will just stare and silently judge everyone.
❝What, sweetheart, you think you're perfect?❞
He couldn't help but laugh at his own stupid little joke, if one could even call it that.
"I’ll show you mine if you show me yours."
Virgil skipped a beat -- but only one. ❝'Course. Got it right here.❞ It was only luck that the clearance card he removed from his back pocket -- the one he'd swiped upon entrance -- didn't come with a picture. ❝And, uh... how 'bout you, sweetheart?❞
⊰ ♖ ⊱ ❝ been behaving yourself, turk ? ❞ ( no worries. he never saw that girl vomit on the lawn. )
❝......❞ A pause. A short, breathy chuckle. ❝What, you think I need a babysitter, Rus? Gimme a break.❞ Turk grinned, albiet lopsidedly. ❝Just havin' a little fun is all.❞
❝You, uh... got the clearance to be up here?❞
