What is J7?

I see a lot of people reblogging my post and tagging it “What is J7?”

In case that’s a genuine question I’ll answer it. J7 is how Josei Seven referred to them in the teaser announcement last week. They announced that they would feature a photo shoot of that they called “Next Generation Johnny’s Jrs”. It’s a popular tactic especially in the tabloid world to give hints instead of saying names directly to drive up interest.

The magazine went on sale yesterday and it was revealed who the Jrs were. Nowhere in that feature does it refer to them as J7 or a new unit. That was just a way of referencing them when they didn’t want to reveal names. They literally just meant 7 Jrs.

The magazine says they chose 7 Jrs who are “ones to watch for the future”. TV mags do it all the time, get a random selection of Jrs and be like “ooh look at these boys!”

So in conclusion, I don’t think it’s a new unit or anything to get upset/excited over. These 7 are already often grouped together in various combinations in idol mags and Shokura performances anyway.
