Characters crossed out are characters that have existed in the past but might have gone through changes due to the reboot.

Behroz / Sharon (#mc - behroz) : they have a son, and it was his birthday. they made food. they live in the hut. they have scars on their face.

Johnny (#mc - johnny) : his hydreigon stole his slice of cake. "audience to every battle".

"Cerberino" : it's presumably the hydreigon. stole the redhead's slice of cake.

"Seth" : a dark espeon is bringing him a slice of cake. he's in his room. he's the birthday boy. he "doesn't like anything".

"A dark espeon" : it's bringing a slice of cake upstairs.

from @sonder-palms // As Alyse speaks, there is no immediate acknowledgement, as if the cook was somewhat used to chatter outside, or to not being directly spoken to. When too long goes by and the question remains unanswered, the woman realizes she was being referred to!

The tall woman, white-haired and sculped by her years, stands in place as she flips some meat in her pan. Her voice sounds like honey, like a bountiful dinner, and the smell of the flowers all around the house seemed to have rubbed on her.

"We hardly see new places around these parts... How are you, dear? Would you like something to eat?"

Somewhere no one has been reaching, there is the sound of fire crackling. A stove turning on, the sweet smell of food being made with love...

The Scolipede goes on to politely turn on the radio to the first channel it can arrange it to, and music fills the air.

As the door stays wide open, inviting all pokemon and trainers to make their way in, the owner of the house works alongside their companions to make the perfect dish. It feels as though they are unaware of who enters, but accepting.

(ShayminCafe) Chicory tromps up to the duo with a large cake on his back. He grins at them proudly and speaks to them in his native Pokemon tongue, coming across as squeaks and grunts to those who cannot understand him. "I heard there was a birthday and that someone's slice of cake was stolen, so I have come to offer up some Shaymin Shortcake for the birthday celebrants!"

The Shaymin is welcomed in and... Johnny just looks at them with a bit of a furrowed brow. It's almost like the squeaking was so clearly an attempt to communicate, but he just didn't quite register any words, like when you teach a cat how to meow an 'hello!' or a bird how to caw 'kisses!'. He awkwardly leans down and takes the gift.

He seemed more concerned about the cake than the fact there was a whole Shaymin in the hut - Behroz was all the same, and shoved all confusion aside to just admire the delicacy their guest delivered, snatching it out of Johnny's hands as if the cake itself wasn't to make up for his hunger.

And as the two argue, one of the cutieflies shily reaches down to Chicory and greets the mythical pokemon, excusing itself.

"Such a kind gesture!!" are the cutiefly's final words before they buzz off and back around Behroz's head.

Behroz seems very happy about Kyo's even vague opinion on Seth. They seem to have glanced off briefly at the Shaeon, protagonist of their conversation, who rested on the steps of the stairs and stared at the chatting people.

Johnny finally comes up to Behroz and tugs at their sleeve like a child, his look for Kyo never changing as he whispers, "Maybe let's start taking into account who walks in here........"

(askthewhiterocket) "A dark Espeon?" Kyo tilts her head a bit in thought. "Dark as in fur color? Or did this Espeon somehow gain the dark typing through unusual means?"

Behroz welcomes Kyo's presence without much care. Johnny, on the other hand, is looking straight at the guest with a look that stands right between fear and anger, making him seem terribly wary and tense. Maybe it's the uniform.

"That's what he calls it," Behroz carries on nonchalantly, "you see, I did ask about it also... all I could gather was: it all starts with an eevee!"

"Back when Seth used to be a little all over the world, he had found residence in a desert where the sun was so bright the moon could never fully rise - day and night would always be at the same time. So what's a wild eevee to do then but develop as something that is both the dark and the light?"

"The people that hosted him told him they were omens of storms, cousins of absols, and they were worshipped out of fear. I looked it all up then, and it talks about how they're wild beasts without owner..."

Behroz laughed,

"He's always been like that - with pokemon, that is. He just claims they follow him around!" They seem to be quite enthusiastic talking about their son, "He's never picked up a pokeball."

They seem to catch their breath before returning to the original conversation.

Johnny is far more eager about introducing himself than his friend, but as he speaks his name, it almost sounds rehearsed - Behroz's gentle tone again overrides their speech, making it even easier to focus on their mouth rather than their words. At least their introduction sounds genuine.

Aight what made you decide to do a lil spinoff of the main blog? 👁 Was it just for funsies, au shenanigans, exploring character arcs outside of the main story? I wanna know because I'm genuinely curious hehe

(Crewel??) A short chubby man with dark skin and short dark hair pokes his head in through the doorway. He smiles sheepishly as he knocks on the doorframe. "Hello...? Sorry to barge in, but something smelled really really good." His eyes settle on the cake and he brightens up, smiling a little more. "Oh, hey! Is it someone's birthday today?? Happy birthday! If I'd have known, I would've brought something to share." His gaze moves on to the inhabitants of the little house, lingering on the tallest of them for far too long. He seems awed by their height and appearance; maybe even a little smitten.

The tallest, "Sharon", looks right back at the stranger and seems to gradually become... more flustered... each second in which the man's eyes are on them, until they have to look away. They cover their mouth with a towel.

The redhead intrudes, clueless or perhaps casual about his friend's reaction. "Sharon" leaves the scene briefly.

The business looking man yaps on. He seems to know well who he's talking about, or maybe he's just too confident about everything and anything ever. "Sharon" subtly shoots a glare at him but sighs and adds: "It's true... my son doesn't quite like birthdays..."

"He doesn't like anything at all, actually." A witty reply escapes the younger man's mouth.

Then they return, with a shawl around their nose. They politely display a plate to their guest.

(( @asktheisle )) Nat peeks around-unintentionally-right as the Hydreigon leaves no traces of the cake that was on the plate. The action is all too similar to his own Hydreigon's and gets a snicker out of him, catching himself as he realizes he's more or less in the line of sight of the two occupants of the home.

"Sorry, don't mean to intrude or anything! I thought I heard something and got a bit curious."

The redhead, too, seems used to strangers entering the hut. The hydreigon at his side flicks its tongue around to smell Nat, or perhaps to clean cream off their face. Its trainer's stomach grumbles, but that's interrupted by a change in his expression - realization.

The man goes up to Nat and analyzes them head to toe. One can read in his eyes just how hard he's trying to pin down where that sense of familiarity comes from, until it clicks.

"I've seen you in the battlefield before! Plenty of times, actually," he rambles on now. The change in his tone of voice rises a feeling that he knows much about what he's mentioning. "Big Sinnohnian and Alolan champion, eh?"

There's a bit of a laugh after that. It doesn't result to be malicious, but proud.

"Quite the show." The words come out as he's catching his breath, then he turns to the tallest, "Get this man a piece of cake, Sharon! We have a big name in the house!"

(@ask-pokecats) Annalisé sniffs something sweet as she enters the hut. She waves and smiles

"Bonjour! *sniff sniff* Excuses-moi? Can I have a cake, please? Zis place is so so charming... I wonder is zere a story behind this?"

You walk in to be met with the buzzing noise of numerous anthropod specimens - butterfrees, wimpods, larvestas, parases, venonats... you name it!

Whilst you catch the attention of the tallest of the two, the feisty redhead doesn't pay you any mind at all, fighting with his life for that slice of cake. By the way they look at you, you can assume they're not used to talking pokemon... but they ARE used to people just walking into their home, apparently.

Now that you wander up close, despite your height, you see this figure is towering over you by at least two feet. You feel stared down upon as you study the person before you... nevertheless...

They do sound awfully friendly! One can't quite tell if it's their scent or the home's that smells so good. Come to think of it, they smell like cake themselves.

"A story! How could I possibly give you a story? There is none, or not much at all. This is where I live, where I work and... cook." They look pleased to talk. Their voice comes out with a relaxing tone.

"If anything, all that I could possibly tell you is my day today. It's my son's birthday and... these are the leftovers. He didn't quite have the stomach for it. Or, well, he doesn't have that big of an appetite at all..."

Birthday date being February 25!

They lean down with a new plate for you, adorned with a pecha berry favoured slice and a fork.

"Here you go, then! Careful, it's a bit cold still."

Why would you be afraid of the woods?

Right when you believe you have lost your way, the sweet scent of cold cake frosting meets your nose. What's there not to follow?

You're welcomed by a hut - no, a wooden house that becomes one with the trees as their vines tangle into the cracks, and nicely planted flowers outgrow their pots resting upon the windows that let the sunset's breeze through.

The forest is the home's privacy, for the walls barely hide the habitats' exchange of words.

Through the window, your eyes meet two people, living a domestic moment.

One appears tall and gentle, bugs swarm around them, and their floral purfume becomes clearer the moment you get close - their voice is deep, their face is scarred from the corners of their mouth to their ear and their dark hair seems only to be dyed for its roots are terribly pale. The other, though, looks impatient - he rests his head over what seems to be a hydreigon with some traits reminiscing a serperior - they both wait eagerly for their portion. His hair is red, and its ends are a warm blond - his eyes are asymmetrical, for one is an icy blue, and the other looks... hurt, awfully red.

Your sense of smell was correct, though, for there is a cold cake being sliced and served. A dark espeon is given a plate and scurries off a ramp of stairs.

They carry on talking, unaware.

You've walked through this forest for days - did you find what you were looking for? Would you like a break?

"Have the last slice, you glutton..." the tallest had spoken,

The redhead scoffs, "Right, you're the- CERBERINO. CERBERINO, NO!! THAT'S MINE!!"

You witness the dragon snatch the plate out of its owner's hands, licking it with its other heads. A fun display, if you ask me.

The door looks open, and the smell of food doesn't seem to be limited to a dessert.

You could always enter...
